The foregoing pages is a pictorial capturing the Inaugural Walk4LIFE &

LIFEfest 2011 event, held on March 27, 2011, which traveled around

walking path of the Rose Bowl “Loop” (a 3 mile walk encircling the

infamous Rose Bowl stadium and the adjacent Brookside Golf Course,

located in the Arroyo Seco area of Pasadena, CA). The LIFEfest event was

held directly after this major historic pro-LIFE walk, on a large grassy field

(Area H) - located east of the Rose Bowl main gate.

The event began promptly at 12:20 p.m., with the Mater Dei Drummers

leading the American Legion Color Guard (Post #75) in front of the stage,

where upon the St. Monica Academy Chorus sung the National Anthem, on

stage where the new Archbishop of the Los Angeles Archdiocese, His Grace

Jose Gomez, “officially opened” the Inaugural Walk4LIFE and blessed a

crowd of about 7,000+. Immediately after the walk, LIFEfest 2011 took

place featuring live music, information booths, a Kids-Zone, gourmet food

trucks and a giant video screen for all to see as well as several dynamic

pro-LIFE speakers (Alphabetically: Walter Hoye, Jason Jones, Carol Liebau,

Karyme Lozano & Lila Rose), with emcee Ken Lund.

Forward:

Both faith-filled events (Walk4LIFE & LIFEfest 2011) were planned and or-

ganized by the LIFEsocal (LIFE Southern California), in partnership with the

Right to Life League of Southern California. The responsibility for the event

volunteers (solicitation and organizing) was handled by the San Gabriel Val-

ley (Knights of Columbus) Chapter, a subordinate organization of the Cali-

fornia State Council of the Knights of Columbus, which provide services to

Catholic parishes within the San Gabriel Pastoral Region of the Los Angeles

Archdiocese - via a network of 32 affiliated Councils and three (3) fourth

(4th) Degree Assemblies. Knights from Mission High Desert and South-

ern California Chapters augmented the volunteers, while Color Corps from

Mission San Gabriel Assembly, with Father Felix Penna Assembly, brought

pageantry.

Dear Fellow Knights and Volunteers,Congratulations on a successful and historical event (Walk4LIFE & LIFEfest

2011). We all should be feeling very proud of ourselves, as all these efforts

were for LIFE and a testament to the Glory of God! Personally, I am proud

beyond measure to have the San Gabriel Valley (Knights of Columbus)

Chapter, during my tenure as Chapter President, take on such a responsi-

ble role; soliciting & organizing the event volunteers. Later, being informed

that Archbishop Jose Gomez, the new leader of our very own Los Angeles

Archdiocese, would be opening this special event made it that much more

memorable. Much thanks to all our (4th Degree) Assemblies and Knights

of Columbus dignitaries that enriched this event.

It was also an honor and a pleasure to have been asked to take on this

endeavor, by the planning committee of the LIFEsocal organization - truly a

beautiful collaborative effort, by all. Special thanks to the Walk4LIFE Core

(Planning) Group and our Core (Knights’) Group, lead by our Knights’ Event

Liaison (also SGV Chapter Secretary)…A job well done! In Unity In Our Faith

Thanks again & God Bless,

Richard DelgadoRichard Delgado, President (FDD/PGK)

San Gabriel Valley (K of C) Chapter

Mission: The founding principles of the Knights of Columbus, are: Charity, Unity &

Fraternity...later adding Patriotism, in 2009.

Brief History: The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic, Family, Fraternal service

organization. It was founded by now Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney,

then the assistant pastor of Saint Mary’s Church (New Haven,

Connecticut), on 29 March 1882. It has grown from several members in

one “council” to more than 14,000 councils and approximately 1.8 million

member Knights throughout the world. Over 70,000 members serve the

Catholic Church in 550 California (K of C) councils. The San Gabriel Valley

(K of C) Chapter is a coordinating body for 32 councils in the San Gabriel

Pastoral Region of the Los Angeles Archdiocese.

Dear LIFEevent Supports,LIFEsocal (LIFE Southern California) was formed by a group of high school

and college students, who believe that from the moment of conception, all

babies deserve LIFE (Life Is For Everyone). In connection with this mission,

the all-volunteer group of 12 moms with 71 children started planning

LIFEsocal’s first major pro-LIFE event, Walk4LIFE at the Rose Bowl.

When our vision of a family-oriented celebration of LIFE started to become

a reality, we humbly acknowledged we needed help, and lots of it. So we

turned to the Knights of Columbus, hoping your motto “In service to one.

In service to all” would apply to us. On behalf of LIFEsocal, THANK YOU for

saying “YES” to the invitation to join our team. When we heard the good

news that you were on board, we all leaped for joy!!

We are so grateful for the presence of so many volunteer members of

the Knights of Columbus at the inaugural walk4LIFE event at the Rose

Bowl. We are particularly grateful for the “core group” of Knights who spent

countless hours recruiting and training volunteers to attend to the many

details of the walk4LIFE Registration, Parking, Water Station, First Aid,

Security, VIP Tent and Opening Pageantry. What a blessing you are to all

of us! We hope to work closely with the fine Knights again in planning

walk4LIFE 2012. With your help and the assistance and prayers of many

in Southern California, we believe the Second Annual walk4LIFE will be

AWESOME!

Sincerely,

Carol GolbransonCarol Golbranson, Executive Director

Mission:To spreading the message of LIFE.

Primary Goal: To inform and motivate teens and young adults in Southern California to

believe in LIFE, stand up for LIFE, and fight for LIFE, with the hope of

ending abortion.

Event Vision: This event was suggested by the Junior Advisors of LIFEsocal with the goal

of raising money for local pregnancy help centers and other pro-LIFE

organizations. Walk4LIFE, with the LIFEfest event being held on the grassy

area outside of the Rose Bowl (featuring live music, information booths,

food trucks and video entertainment and motivating pro-LIFE

speakers, etc.).
