H old your keys in your hand, what do you see? What do they mean? Trust... responsibility? Ask those questions to five men who have lived in the shadow of homelessness. What did they

say when a key to a home was placed in their hands for the first time in many years.

“Finally I can get a good nights sleep and feel safe.“

“I made it, I feel blessed, I‟ve been struggling all my life, so having a key in my hand is really amazing!“

“I can hardly describe it. It‟s been so long since I‟ve had a key I don‟t even know what to do, it‟s beautiful,

    I‟m ready to move in.”

The first week of December brought new life to the house God gave us at

601 Frink Street and to the five men who now call it home. Men of

different ages, faces, backgrounds and dreams. Brave men who are blending into a family of strength, sharing life’s challenges together.

Five lives at a time, one house at a time, all on Frink Street; a place we

can see from our own front door. That’s our dream and with God’s grace this dream will come true. Can you imagine a street lined with brightly lit

homes, brimming with life… the same street that was once filled with boarded up houses and empty lots littered with trash.

Yes! We can imagine this because we can’t imagine why people have to sleep in abandoned cars and buses, on church steps, in doorways, in wooded areas, under bridges and in abandoned houses, right around

the corner from where we live. It breaks our heart and there's no doubt

it grieves the heart of God.

So He called and we answered.

Things can get better, life can be sweeter. We can do this if we trust Him. It’s going to take money, volunteers, prayers, courage and knowing God’s plan cannot be hindered for the people he loves so dearly.

These five keys are the beginning of unlocking dreams for more homes.

The gift of home lies within each of us and the key is now in our hands.

Home Sweet Home Frink Street here we come… one house down and many more to come! The first house is renovated

and now called home by five incredible men we have grown to love. They have committed to being good stewards of the home God has given us

and to honoring one another as brothers in Christ. We are deeply grateful to Victor Sharpe, Community Development Director

for coordinating the transfer of ownership from the City of Fayetteville to FAOIAM.

Our gratitude extends to all those who have helped

us return these members of our family to a safe place they can call home.

Our First Graduates From Jobs for Life

For eight weeks, twice a week, they met and were

surrounded by determined volunteers. They shared a strong belief that the teachings of our Lord Jesus

could change the direction of a life.

In an adjacent room men and women offered

prayers for all those involved in JfL and those prayers were deeply felt anytime they met.

Each session used the story of a figure from the

Bible to illustrate how the adversities of life can be overcome, the same trials and hardships each of us struggle to rise above.

The students were paired with a champion who sat beside them in every class

while dynamic discussions were led by Jobeth and Sandra. The support continued outside the walls of Inasmuch as feelings of hopelessness were

transformed through sharing lunch, study time at the library and deep conversations. Our JfL team is anticipating another exciting class that will begin in January.

    „Paula‟ ...One Hot Gal

After one year of breakfast service, we had totally

worn-out two residential dishwashers from the sheer

volume of dishes used each morning. Once again

St Johns Episcopal Church came to the rescue and granted

    us the funding we desperately

needed to purchase a commercial dishwasher; who

was affectionately named ‘Paula’ by Charles, our senior

aide. Thank you St Johns for blessing us with this valuable

tool we needed to do the Lord’s work.

    Kitchen Angels

We are so blessed to have Luanna Tatum &

Charles Bennett as part of our kitchen team. They are members of the Workforce Development

Senior Aide Program. Luanna & Charles are

faithful, hardworking members of our kitchen

staff and bring a joyful presence to us all.

    Each morning we are

assured that breakfast will be served to our

family on sparkling clean dishes because of their commitment to Inasmuch.

    Vision Statement

To walk among the broken and struggling, being the hands and feet of Jesus.

    Mission Purpose

Operation Inasmuch is designed by God to grow and make its

home in any church or heart where Jesus Christ is Lord. Our purpose is to go outside the church walls to a world in need,

offering the talents and gifts with which we have been blessed.

We believe that God has called us to be His hands and feet as we share His love with ‘the least of these’.

At Last! Computer Class Our first Microsoft computer class

was a huge success! Nine students received their Certificate of Achievement and were honored at breakfast with a reserved table and recognition. The Keyboarding class was instructed by Inasmuch staff member Lisbeth Marín.

During the 8 weeks of class, we witnessed an unexpected blessing as the students became friends, bonding into a family of people determined to gain new skills. The best news is that the entire class has enrolled for the second 8 week session! What an honor and privilege it is to work with people who are so eager to be the people God created them to be.

We are eternally grateful to Haymount United Methodist Church for generously providing the funding needed to equip the computer lab, top to bottom, with technology; The Florence Rogers Charitable Trust for beautiful desks and chairs as well as Joe Alley & Terry Plummer for their technical and installation services.

From L to R - Joseph Turns Jr., Catherine Toney, Edward Scott,

Do You See What I See?

You do if you know Jim Jackson, a member of Northwood Temple, who visits Inasmuch regularly to

evaluate the proper strength reading glasses needed by members of our family. Being able to enjoy the written word is a

blessing and provides access to things we take for granted like being able to read your prescription bottle or the daily newspaper.

Wishes Comes True! In the wish list of our last newsletter we requested a much needed storage building

and within days, God granted our wish! The men of Westminster Presbyterian Church, led by Lynn Haitchcock

along with a generous donor, Jan Belk, felt moved to supply

this significant need. Handi-Houses Of Fayetteville continued

the blessing by upgrading the building but not the cost.
