Hymn 737 Rejoice, My Heart, Be Glad and Sing, stanzas 1–3, 6, 7
6 His wisdom never plans in vain
Nor falters nor mistakes.
All that His counsels may ordain
A blessèd ending makes.
7 Upon your lips, then, lay your hand,
And trust His guiding love;
Then like a rock your peace shall stand
Here and in heav’n above.
Stand Invocation, Confession and Absolution – LSB p. 203
P In the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C Amen.
P Our help is in the name of the Lord,
C who made heaven and earth.
P If You, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand?
C But with You there is forgiveness; therefore You are feared.
P Since we are gathered to hear God’s Word, call upon Him in prayer and praise, and receive the body and blood of
our Lord Jesus Christ in the fellowship of this altar, let us first consider our unworthiness and confess before God
and one another that we have sinned in thought, word, and deed, and that we cannot free ourselves from our sinful
condition. Together as His people let us take refuge in the infinite mercy of God, our heavenly Father, seeking His
grace for the sake of Christ, and saying: God, be merciful to me, a sinner.
C Almighty God, have mercy upon us, forgive us our sins, and lead us to everlasting life. Amen.
2
P Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a
called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the
Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C Amen.
Kyrie – LSB p. 204

Holy Gospel Matthew 11:25–30 We are given rest by being yoked to Jesus and hearing his voice.
C Glory to You, O Lord. After the reading:
C Praise to You, O Christ.
Nicene Creed
C I believe in one God,
the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth
and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only-begotten Son of God,
begotten of His Father before all worlds,
God of God, Light of Light,
very God of very God,
begotten, not made,
being of one substance with the Father,
by whom all things were made;
who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven
and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary
and was made man;
and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate.
He suffered and was buried.
And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures
and ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of the Father.
And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead,
whose kingdom will have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord and giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified,
who spoke by the prophets.
4
And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church,
I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins,
and I look for the resurrection of the dead
and the life T of the world to come. Amen.

Hymn 618 I Come, O Savior, to Thy Table
1 I come, O Savior, to Thy table,
For weak and weary is my soul;
Thou, Bread of Life, alone art able
To satisfy and make me whole: Refrain.
Refrain Lord, may Thy body and Thy blood
Be for my soul the highest good!
2 Thy heart is filled with fervent yearning
That sinners may salvation see
Who, Lord, to Thee in faith are turning;
So I, a sinner, come to Thee. Refrain
The hymn continues on the next page.
Prayer before Communing
Dear Savior, at Your gracious invitation I come to Your table to eat and drink Your holy body and blood. Let me find favor in Your eyes to receive this holy Sacrament in faith for the salvation of my soul and to the glory of Your holy name; for You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
6
3 Unworthy though I am, O Savior,
Because I have a sinful heart,
Yet Thou Thy lamb wilt banish never,
For Thou my faithful shepherd art: Refrain
4 Weary am I and heavy laden;
With sin my soul is sore oppressed;
Receive me graciously and gladden
My heart, for I am now Thy guest. Refrain
5 What higher gift can we inherit?
It is faith’s bond and solid base;
It is the strength of heart and spirit,
The covenant of hope and grace. Refrain
Hymn 771 Be Still, My Soul, before the Lord
Choir/Solo I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say
1 I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“Come unto Me and rest;
Lay down, thou weary one, lay down
Thy head upon My breast.”
I came to Jesus as I was,
So weary, worn, and sad;
I found in Him a resting place,
And He has made me glad.
2 I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“Behold, I freely give
The living water; thirsty one,
Stoop down and drink and live.”
I came to Jesus, and I drank
Of that life-giving stream;
My thirst was quenched, my soul revived,
And now I live in Him.
3 I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“I am this dark world’s light.
Look unto Me; thy morn shall rise
And all thy day be bright.”
I looked to Jesus, and I found
In Him my star, my sun;
And in that light of life I’ll walk
Till trav’ling days are done.
Hymn 726 Evening and Morning
1 Evening and morning,
Sunset and dawning,
Wealth, peace, and gladness,
Comfort in sadness:
These are Thy works; all the glory be Thine!
Times without number,
Awake or in slumber,
Thine eye observes us,
From danger preserves us,
Causing Thy mercy upon us to shine.
2 Father, O hear me,
Pardon and spare me;
Calm all my terrors,
Blot out my errors
That by Thine eyes they may no more be scanned.
Order my goings,
Direct all my doings;
As it may please Thee,
Retain or release me;
All I commit to Thy fatherly hand.

3 Ills that still grieve me
Soon are to leave me;
Though billows tower,
And winds gain power,
After the storm the fair sun shows its face.
Joys e’er increasing
And peace never ceasing:
These shall I treasure
And share in full measure
When in His mansions God grants me a place.
4 To God in heaven
All praise be given!
Come, let us offer
And gladly proffer
To the Creator the gifts He doth prize.
He well receiveth
A heart that believeth;
Hymns that adore Him
Are precious before Him
And to His throne like sweet incense arise.

Small Catechism
The Sixth Petition
And lead us not into temptation.
What does this mean?
God tempts no one. We pray in this petition that
God would guard and keep us so that the devil, the
world, and our sinful nature may not deceive us or
mislead us into false belief, despair, and other great
shame and vice. Although we are attacked by these
things, we pray that we may finally overcome them
and win the victory.
Large Catechism
To feel temptation, therefore, is quite a different thing from
consenting and yielding to it. We must all feel it, though not
all to the same degree; some have more frequent and severe
temptations than others. The youth, for example, are tempted
chiefly by the flesh; older people are tempted by the world.
Others, who are concerned with spiritual matters (that is,
strong Christians) are tempted by the devil. But we cannot be
harmed by the mere feeling of temptation as long as it is
contrary to our will and we would prefer to be rid of it. If we
did not feel it, it could not be called a temptation. But to
consent to it is to give it free rein and neither resist it nor pray
for help against it.

Saturday: For faithfulness to the end; for the renewal of
those who are withering in the faith or have fallen away;
for receptive hearts and minds to God’s Word on the
Lord’s Day.
Lord’s Prayer
Final Collect
O God, our support and our refuge, deliver us from
temptation, give us the strong defense of Your salvation, hold
us up with Your right hand, teach us by Your discipline, and
make our way and our life undefiled, so that with You as our
protector and guardian we may remain steadfast in the faith to
life everlasting, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Hymn
Lead not into temptation, Lord,
Where our grim foe and all his horde
Would vex our souls on ev’ry hand.
Help us resist, help us to stand
Firm in the faith, a mighty host,
Through comfort of the Holy Ghost. (LSB 766:7)

In the Congregation Service in Our Neighborhood this July We are getting ready to launch the congregation’s Helping Hand Initiative for Summer 2020 with some changes to protect our workers, volunteers and residents. In partnership with Laborers for Christ and Lutheran Social Services we will be providing exterior work such as landscaping, painting and minor exterior home repairs to the homes of our neighbors in our neighborhood. All service recipients own their own homes and have critical home repair needs. Through this initiative, we seek to care for our neighbors’ needs and also share Christ’s love with them. You can help the following ways: 1) Keep these efforts in your prayers. 2) Help with tasks such as yard cleanup, painting, and neighborhood beautification. 3) Provide financial support through our grant match. Envelopes are located on the front desk or glass case in the narthex or you may send in a donation to St. Paul's and write “Helping Hand” in the memo area. To learn more about how you can contribute to this project with your gifts, time, and talents, please contact: Doug Schwartz, Initiative Coordinator (260) 437-8682 or djschwartz [email protected] or email (church secretary@stpauls fw.org) the church office.
