My beloved members, On the fourth Sunday of this month we celebrate our Annual Friends Day. We initiated Friends Day as an annual evangelistic event. Friends Day gives us the potential for doubling or tripling our attendance in Sunday School and Morning Worship. Jesus said in Luke 14:23, “Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” With this scripture in mind, I am challenging all of our members to invite your friends to come and share with us in Sunday School and Morning Worship on our Annual Friends Day observance. As a matter of fact, if everyone brought one friend, our attendance would be doubled. Friends Day is an attendance campaign with a difference. Its aim is not just to give our church a record high attendance on one day, but it includes a follow-up campaign designed to bring visitors back until they make a decision. The purpose of the campaign is to help churches carry out the Great Commission given in Matthew 28:19-20. This purpose is achieved by involving members in reaching out to their friends in an organized manner. The church as a team can then lead the friends to Christ. Some people who would never think of attending church by themselves will respond positively if asked. This is where members can play a major role in the evangelistic outreach of their church. My beloved members,

On the fourth Sunday of this month we celebrate our

Annual Friends Day. We initiated Friends Day as an

annual evangelistic event. Friends Day gives us the

potential for doubling or tripling our attendance in

    Sunday School and Morning Worship.

Jesus said in Luke 14:23, “Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” With this

scripture in mind, I am challenging all of our members to invite your

friends to come and share with us in Sunday School and Morning

Worship on our Annual Friends Day observance. As a matter of fact,

if everyone brought one friend, our attendance would be doubled.

Friends Day is an attendance campaign with a difference. Its aim is

not just to give our church a record high attendance on one day, but it

includes a follow-up campaign designed to bring visitors back until

they make a decision. The purpose of the campaign is to help

churches carry out the Great Commission given in Matthew 28:19-20.

This purpose is achieved by involving members in reaching out to

their friends in an organized manner. The church as a team can then

    lead the friends to Christ.

Some people who would never think of attending church by

themselves will respond positively if asked. This is where members

can play a major role in the evangelistic outreach of their church.

Friends Day can be a real blessing to our church. I pray that the Lord will bring precious souls into His kingdom through Friends Day this month!

The children in Primary groups, Sister Verrell Randolph, (Age 6),

JOIN US SUNDAY MAY 10, 2011

    AT 9:00 A.M.

    DURING THE SUNDAY SCHOOL HOUR

    FOR A TRIBUTE TO MOTHERS

    As I Look Back...

As I look back on my life

    I find myself wondering...

Did I remember to thank you

for all that you have done for me?

For all of the times you were by my side

to help me celebrate my successes

    and accept my defeats?

Or for teaching me the value of hard work,

    good judgement, courage, and honesty?

I wonder if I've ever thanked you

    for the simple things...

The laughter, smiles, and quiet times we've

    shared?

If I have forgotten to express my gratitude

    For any of these things,

    I am thanking you now...

and I am hoping that you've known all along,

how very much you are loved and appreciated.

  • 2011—MAY 8 THE FAIRVIEWAN

On the second Sunday of April, 2011, the Church Family put forth its best effort to spotlight the youth of Fairview. The day began with High Attendance for the Sunday School, followed by a Continental Breakfast held in conjunction with the New Member Fellowship, 10:00 a.m. Morning Worship that featured the youth and a Youth Bash in the Burns Fellowship Hall after morning worship (see comments from youth on the next page). Youth led the Sunday School Groups and those that were not on duty during Morning Worship an usher or in the choir were given priority seating in the center section of the sanctuary with a special message from the Pastor. Included are photos and recaps from the Sunday School and some of the youth that participated in the day’s events.

YOU DID IT!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! We had a total of 128 at Sunday School on April 10!!!!!! The previous weeks we had 99, 96, and 99. This means YOU got the Word out and people came!!!! In the Youth Department, Pre-School to Seniors, we had three visitors. Age 6-7 1 Age 7-8 1 Age 9-10 1 In the Youth Department, Pre-School to Age 10, we had a record 28 students. The previous week 23. This is up from the sin-gle digits we had less than 6 months ago. The Intermediates and Senior Youth were teaching so many were not in their groups. Now I need to find out how many adult members were in your groups who had not attended Sunday School in 2011-2010. Please let me know so the winners can be determined and recognition given. The Pot Luck for the Youth held by Evalia Darling Senior facilitator, was also a suc-cess. The Youth were asked what they wanted and Evalia took charge! The membership was very supportive and brought tons and tons of food. We had lots of youth come out to fellow-ship and eat! Again, thank you, thank you, thank you! KAREN LYNN HAYES SUNRISE: SEPTEMBER 15, 1963

    SUNSET: APRIL 17, 2011

The life of our sister Karen Lynn Hayes

was celebrated on Friday, April 22, 2011

    at her home-going services.

Karen joined Fairview Baptist Church at

an early age. In her commitment to

ministry, she served as Director of the JR

Inspirational Choir for 15 years. She

strongly exhibited her strength in her

conviction of love for anyone she met.

The youngest of three siblings, Karen’s

love and commitment for family ran

    deep, always maintaining the close

family bond that her parents instilled in

her and her sisters. In the words of her

    oldest sister, Dorsene Hayes-Jones;

―Karen, you had this special gift that

young people fell in love with. You were

a mother to the motherless, and sister to

those who had no sister. They called you

Auntie, Nana and Granny, but I called

    you my baby sister.‖

Karen was a leader, she was always a

lady, and she is forever loved. She put

the ―D‖ in Diva. In her sister Ernice

Hayes Wilson’s words, ―You knew who

you were, who you belonged to and

where you would spend eternity. The joy

of the Lord was in your heart and a word

    of praise on your lips.‖

    Sister Mattie B. Williams

Mattie Bell Nicholson was born, the second

of three children, to Aubrey and Lydia Nicholson, in Watonga,

Oklahoma. Sister Mattie, spoken of s a very neat, feisty, and

outspoken lady who availed herself to others, offering a helping hand

    to friends and neighbors.

Sister Nicholson married Mr. John Henry Parker and later married

Brother Willie B. Williams, one that lasted for 55 years until his death

in 1992. She loved to read the Bible and study the Word of God. She united

with Fairview Baptist Church on Easter Sunday, 1955, and remained a

faithful member until her death. She was active in the Women’s

Ministry, Bible Study, Senior Ministry, Sunday School, and the

Culinary Ministry, working in each as long as her health allowed.

The Fairview family extend our love, support and appreciation to the

family of Sister Williams for having shared her with us for these many

    rich years.

    Home-going Celebration: April 4, 2011

    Brother Charles “Bud” Anglin March 20, 1931 - March 26, 2011

Charles Anglin was born to Charlie Anglin of Elmore, Texas and Geneva Aldridge of Gilmore, Texas. He was the oldest of seven children. He lived a full life and was said to be a person that enjoyed loyal friends, and his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. Brother Anglin was a long-time

member of Fairview, his family being one of the oldest generational families of the church. Our love, support, and continual prayers go to the Anglin family. Remember that “earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.”

“And I heard a voice from heaven saying “Write

this down: Blessed are those who die in the Lord

from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, they are blessed

indeed, for they will rest from their hard work; for

their good deeds follow them!” - Revelation 14:13
