TypesofEligibleCompanies

Exceptasexplainedherein,anycompany,publicorprivate,for-profitornot-for-profit,U.S.orbasedoutsideoftheU.S.,iseligibletoparticipateintheEQprocessandtobeconsideredfordesignationasaWorld'sMostEthicalCompany.However,asEthisphere’sprocesshasevolved,Ethispherehascometotheconclusionthatitcannotsufficientlyevaluatenon-profitcollegesanduniversities,governments,governmentalagencies,andNGOs.Therefore,beginningwiththe2017process,organizationsinthesecategorieswillnotbeconsideredfortheWorld’sMostEthicalCompanyhonor.

Weencouragewideparticipationregardlessofwhetheracompanythinksthatitwillbehonored.AllcompaniesthatrespondtothesurveywillreceiveananalysisthatprovidestheiroverallEthicsQuotientandhowtheirresponsesineachofthefivecategoriesandtokeyquestionscomparetothosethatareeventuallynamedashonorees.Thevalueinparticipatingisinlearningnotonlyhowyourcompanycomparestothehonorees,butinbetterunderstandingwhat'strendinginleadingcompaniesandmoreabouttheirbestpractices.PrivacyandConfidentiality

IntheprocessofcompletingtheEQSurveyandprovidingsupportingdocumentationandexplanation,aWorld’sMostEthicalCompanynomineewillsupplyEthispherewithconfidentialandproprietaryinformation.Ethispherewilltakereasonablestepstomaintaintheconfidentialityofthisinformation.Ethispherewillonlyusetheconfidentialinformationsubmitted:(i)toprocessthenominee’ssubmission,includinggeneratingscores;(ii)toprovideascorecardandotheranalysistothenominee;(iii)todeterminewhetherthenomineewillbedesignatedaWMEcompany;(iv)foranyadditionalanalysisordiscussionthecompanymaywishtohavewithEthisphere;and(v)inanaggregatedandanonymizedfashionforbenchmarkingorothercomparativeoranalyticalpurposes(anyconfidentialinformationwillbeanonymizedandwillnotbeabletobeconnectedtotheparticipant).

EQscoresforidentifiedindividualcompaniesarenotmadepublic.Anyconfidentialinformationcontainedinsupplementaldocumentationsubmittedinsupportofthecompany’snominationwillbedestroyedwithintwoyearsafteritssubmission.Anymethodofconveyingsuchstoredinformation,e.g.,portableharddrives,willnotbereturnedtothenomineebutwillbedestroyed.NamesofcompaniesarenotreleasedandremainconfidentialexceptforthenamesofthoseactuallyselectedasWorld’sMostEthicalCompanies.

TotheextentthenomineesubmitsanypersonalinformationofitsemployeesorothersincompletingtheEQquestionnaireorotherwiseparticipatingintheWMEselectionprocess,Ethispherewillonlyusesuchpersonalinformationtoprocessorfollowuponthenominee’ssubmissionincludingtocontactthe
