r Joseph Gibson never smiled.

He didnt once smile, even for a while.

He woke up each morning and washed his sombre face,

but the side of his lips never moved from their place.

Nothing made our Joseph grin, laughing baby,

cute puppy, a good joke, nor gin.

And so he went about his days with a straight, serious look.

Never showing his molars to friend, neighbor, nor crook.

He walked towards her, one step and two. Left and right, just as you do.

As she passed him their eyes met. And on her face a smile had set.

But our dear Joseph's face could not make this expressionHis muscles only remembered the dour look of discretion.

Another step and then two and the lady had passed. On his face, Not even half a smile had cast.

e went straight home and stared in the mirror. But he still couldn’t produce a smile any clearer.

The shock and the horror he worried a lot. Once he could smile and now he could not.

and Dr Weinsteins help couldn't have been more concise.

You've not smiled for so long that your body has forgotten.

Thats why your eyes are so dull and your face looks so rotten.

Smiling is in fact a beautiful act,

It makes you feel good,

As good as you should.

It brings joy to others, who share your sad condition,

and helps with their health as much as nutrition.
