The emperor is watching he will find you
When you see it means deleted from imperial records
The Emperor
• Leader of the Imperium of Man
Creation of the PrimarchsThey were created in a secret underground laboratory on Luna under tightest security. However, the forces of Chaos somehow managed to spirit them away just prior to their
maturation and it is speculated that they also managed to tamper with the infant Primarchs. These were scattered across the galaxy, beyond the Emperor's reach, and
all of them landed on different worlds. The Emperor could sense that the infant Primarchs were alive, but was unable to reach them. Therefore he used their previously collected DNA samples to create the Space Marines. The genetic material of each one
of them was used to found a single Space Marine Legion, twenty in total. Their homeworlds and their infancy would influence and mould them to a large extent.
There they quickly grew to adulthood and often rose to power, ruling, leading, and helping the inhabitants. As the Emperor found them, he was generally pleased by their
actions, and quickly gave them the leadership of their respective legion. The first Primarch to be found was Horus, who became the Emperor's favourite. Most Primarchs somehow recognized the Emperor on sight, and immediately pledged their allegiance on the spot. A few, (Leman Russ, Ferrus Manus and Vulkan) only followed
Him after being bested in contests. Angron refused, and was abducted from his homeworld, something he never really accepted. The last to be found was Alpharius. At the end of the Great Crusade Warmaster Horus fell to Chaos, and eight of his fellow Primarchs followed him against the Emperor, resulting in a full-scale civil war known as the Horus Heresy. Each Primarch chose his side, loyalists against traitors, leading their
legions against their former comrades.

XX Alpharius Omegon unknown Alpha Legion Traitor One may be dead, slain by Roboute Guilliman. (It is not known which of the twins was
killed. The reliability of this information is disputed, therefore it is possible that both Alpharius and Omegon are still alive.)
Fate of the PrimarchsTraitors
Warmaster Horus was killed by the Emperor of Mankind, and his soul was obliterated. His corpse was completely destroyed by Abaddon the Despoiler, who also took over his place as overall leader of the Chaos Space Marines.
Magnus the Red rose to the rank of Daemon Prince of Tzeentch. Angron rose to the rank of of Daemon prince of Khorne.
Mortarion rose the rank of Daemon Prince of Nurgle. Fulgrim rose to the rank of Daemon Prince of Slaanesh.
Lorgar rose to the rank of Daemon Prince of Chaos Undivided. Perturabo rose to the rank of Daemon Prince of Chaos Undivided.
Konrad Curze, aka Night Haunter, was assassinated by Callidus assassin M'Shen. He allowed her infiltration, apparently wanting to die. Alpharius was killed by Roboute Guilliman, but the source which reported his death may have been manipulated. It is not known if Alpharius or Omegon is the
primarch killed in the report. Due to the report's unreliability, neither may have been killed.8. Loyalists
Ferrus Manus was killed at the Drop Site massacre at the start of the Horus Heresy by Fulgrim who presented his head to Horus. Sanguinius was slain by Horus after refusing to join him.
Lion El'Jonson returned to his homeworld of Caliban only to discover that his friend and second-in command Luther and the Dark Angel garrison had turned against him2. He led a strike force of his own loyal Dark Angels against the traitors. He disappeared amongst the inferno as the world was blasted apart by a
Warp Storm and a bombardment from his ships in orbit. He sleeps deep within the Rock, the biggest piece of Caliban and current home base of the Dark Angels1,2. Only the Emperor and the Watchers in the Dark know of this secret.1-p14
Jaghatai Khan disappeared while pursuing Dark Eldar into a webway portal after they had managed to raid Mundus Planus. There are rumors that he fights there still, lost in the twisting paths of the Webway. After nine thousand years it seems highly unlikely, but not impossible.
Leman Russ disappeared in the Eye of Terror. The Space Wolves hold a legend that says Russ went on a quest to find a means to cure the Emperor. His final words before his disappearance is that he would return for the Wolftime (the final battle). It is also said that Leman Russ led the 13th Company into the
Eye of Terror and ordered them to hunt down the Traitor Legions which had fled to the Eye of Terror, particularly the Thousand Sons. Rogal Dorn boarded a Chaos cruiser during a Black Crusade alongside a company of his sons and died fighting. He died after many of his loyal brother
Primarchs. Today, his hand is housed in the holiest shrine of the Imperial Fists chapter, and his dead body encased in amber and put in Phalanx 11. Roboute Guilliman was struck down with an envenomed blade by his former brother Fulgrim. His body is perfectly preserved in a stasis field at the heart of the Temple of Correction3. It is rumoured that he is still alive and that his wound is slowly healing, something normally impossible in a stasis field. The truth of this
rumour is unknown but this is seen by many (including the Ultramarine captain Uriel Ventris) as mere optimistic thinking. Vulkan disappeared. The position of Chapter Master, filled by the Captain of the First Company, is considered to be a regency as the Salamanders believe that
Vulkan will one day return and lead them on a great crusade against Chaos. Corax was racked by guilt and shame. In order to rebuild quickly the strength of his legion from the dropsite massacre on Isstvan V, Corax accelerated the
growth of the gene-seed organs, producing more Space Marines, but this process also deteriorated the Gene-seed, causing many to become hulking monsters. Riddled with guilt over what he had done, Corax administered euthanasia to all of them and then locked himself away within his sanctum, the Raven's Tower. Exactly one year later he left his tower, haggard and gaunt, and took a small shuttle craft with the words Never more. It was last monitored setting a course for
the Eye of Terror. Two unknown Primarchs
Almost nothing is known about the two unknown primarchs. References to the second and eleventh Primarchs are made in the short story, The Lighting Tower12, in which Rogal Dorn describes the plinths on which their
statues stand should be vacant and says that 'no one ever spoke of those two absent brothers. Their separate tragedies had seemed like aberrations. Had they, in fact, been warnings that no one had heeded?'
The traitor Primarchs in this story are covered with a shroud, so the fate of the second and eleventh is undetermined. They may have been found and befell a tragedy as it implies they were spoken about previously.
The Space Marines They form the unyielding fist of the Emperor, brutally crushing all who threaten his vast realm. The mere mention of their name elicits awe and reverence within the Imperium,
while the same name draws cries of despair and fear among the many enemies of Man. They are the Space Marines, and there are few warriors in the galaxy that can match
them.Through a tortuous regiment of organ replacement, genetic modification, psycho-
chemical conditioning, and rigorous physical training that would kill a normal human, a Space Marine becomes superhuman. He can fight without sleep or food for weeks, he can digest poisons, he can breathe toxic gases, and he can heal from grievous injury. On top of his impressive physical powers, a Space Marine has access to some of the most devastating weaponry in the Imperium. From orbital strikes to lascannons to the
trusty bolter, a single Space Marine can obliterate an entire city block. He is further blessed with Land raiders, Razorbacks, and the hardy Rhino to transport him across the battlefield. Lastly, the process that made him superhuman also enables a Space Marine
to wear his trademark power amour, a suit of ceramite that protects him from many weapons.
Ultimately, however, the true power of a Space Marine lies in his unwavering faith in the Emperor. He is the divine Master of Mankind, chosen by the gods and worshipped for
one hundred centuries while he sits entombed in the Golden Throne. The Space Marines consider themselves particularly blessed because part of the gene-seed that flows
through their enhanced veins is from the Emperor’s flesh. They are truly the physical manifestation of his will

To have supremacy over the enemy the space marines use several weapons, vehicles, and units
A space standard Marine Bolter
Over the millennium, the Bolter has been improved and changed many times. There have been hundreds of variants, but only a few have made any radical difference. All of these have the same basic features, but each have different additional features (depending on the pattern) to improve it. The current standard-issue Bolter for the Space Marines is the .998 Godwyn pattern Bolter.
Bolt pistol
The Bolt Pistol is a common variant of the Boltgun, and apart from the Space Marines, is also available to officers and seasoned veterans of the Imperial Guard. They are awarded to Commissars, both for battle and to perform field executions of those too cowardly to perform the Emperor's service, leading to the weapon being nicknamed the "Bravery Bolter". A standard Bolt Pistol magazine, due to varying manufacturing skills and machinery, is capable of housing between 6 and 12 rounds of ammunition. Such weapons are often used by the assault troops of the Space Marines, the Sisters of Battle, and Chaos Marines. Many troops prefer to wield a Bolt Pistol in one hand and a melee weapon, such as a Chainsword, in the other, allowing them to switch from a firefight to a close-quarters battle instantly. In extended engagements, when reloading can mean almost certain death, a drum magazine can be utilized, with the same capacity as those used on Storm Bolters.
Storm Bolter
The Storm Bolter is a double-barreled version of the bolter. As it is designed for brutal assault, and consumes more ammunition than a normal bolter, they are not normally utilized by Space Marines in regular power amour. However, they are standard issue for Space Marine Terminators, and are often a tank's pintle-mounted weapon. They are also used by the Grey Knights as a gauntlet-mounted weapon with its feed sourced from the back of their amour or from a magazine on the side of the gauntlet (as seen in Like boltguns, Imperial Guard veterans and officers rarely carry a storm bolter. The Sisters of Battle will sometimes designate a member of a squad to carry a storm bolter as a special weapon. Due to high munitions consumption, and the lack of manual dexterity in Tactical Dreadnought Armor, most Storm Bolters are fed from a large box magazine, carrying approximately 60-150 rounds depending on the size and style. When the weapon is used without Tactical Dreadnought Armor, it usually has a more conventional magazine containing sixty rounds, which, given the double barrels and firing mechanism, gives you thirty shots. These rounds are identical to those fired from bolt pistols and boltguns.
Heavy Bolter
The Heavy Bolter is a support weapon. Unlike other Bolt weapons, it uses a much larger 1.00 caliber round and is in common use by all but the Imperium's most primitive martial forces. It has a high rate of fire, long range, is inexpensive to manufacture, and tolerant of mistreatment by inexperienced users. It is equipped on tanks and a variety of vehicles as an anti-infantry (AI) weapon as well as on fixed defenses.
Space Marine ammo back pack
Used in conjunction with the heavy bolter this is a ultra marines pattern pack
A space marine sniper rifle
Sniper rifles are highly accurate projectile weapons used to attack lightly armored high value targets from a distance.
Flamer
Flamers are infantry support weapons, given usually by officers to their most courageous soldiers as a sort of honor, but most troopers carry these with disdain due to the range of the weapon. The Flamer is a flamethrower-type weapon that projects an ignited stream of Promethium fuel over a wide area, igniting many enemies in a single shot.
Plasma cannon
The plasma cannon is a heavy weapon that relies on plasma technology to deliver lethal energy blasts, but also has another setting to allow direct shots against tanks and other large targets. It is much longer-ranged than the plasma gun, and has a wider blast radius.
Plasma gun
The Plasma Gun is a rifle-sized plasma weapon common to many of the forces of the Imperium. It is classified as a special weapon and is carried by a variety of Imperial infantry, including Space Marines, Imperial Guardsmen. Like other infantry-carried plasma weapons, Imperial plasma guns are more powerful than plasma weapons used by xenos races but are unstable; they have a chance to malfunction and wound the wielder.
Plasma pistol
The plasma pistol is a shorter-ranged, single handed pistol version of the plasma gun. It is most commonly encountered carried by officers of both Space Marines and Imperial Guard. Aside from characters, some specialized assault troops such as Assault Marines have the capability to be armed with plasma pistols.
Las cannon
the Lascannon has become the largest man-portable form of Las-weaponry, the barrel being several times larger in diameter and length than the standard Lasgun.
Melta Gun
Melta Guns are the basic version of Melta Weapons, used by forces of Imperial origin, including the Imperial Guard, Space Marines, and Witch Hunters.Given their fairly quiet and very effective nature, infiltrating parties make use of meltaguns to destroy enemy vehicles before they get a chance to fight on the battlefield. They are also given names such as 'fusion guns', 'melters' and 'cookers'.
Chain sword
The most common form of chain weapon is the chainsword, frequently carried by assault troops and low-ranking officers of the Imperial Guard and Space Marines (including the Traitor Legions).
Power sword
Power Swords are the most ubiquitous form of power weapon and are in use by all agencies of the Imperium. They are routinely wielded by ranking Space Marines, officers in the Imperial Guard, senior sisters of the Adepta Sororitas, and members of the Inquisition. Some Imperial armories hold ancient swords of such high quality they strike as potently as a power sword though they have no energy field; in-game such weapons often 'count as' a power weapon.
Power Fist
A Power Fist (aka Power Glove) is a large metal gauntlet surrounded by an energy field that disrupts solid matter. It is large and slow in combat, and so the bearer must be willing to take damage before they can strike back. The benefits of the power fist are that it increases the user's strength, much like Power Armour due to the extra power put in by the electronics designed to allow it to move.
Assault Cannon
The assault cannon is a six-barreled, self-loading automatic weapon used by a few select vehicles and heavy infantry that can carry such a weapon. Effective against massed infantry and light vehicles, the weapon's bulk more-or-less requires it to be mounted on stable platforms such as vehicles. Compared to other Imperial heavy weapons, there are much fewer units that are capable of carrying assault cannons due to the structural requirements of its mass, bulk, ammunition consumption, and, more than a self-propelled bolt weapon, its full heavy recoil relative to its power.
Space marine special units
• The space marines however powerful themselves utilize many other specialized units to dominate their enemies.
DreadnoughtWhen a space marine has been wounded mortally in combat from which he cannot recover from he may be granted the honor of becoming entombed in the dreadnought battle suit these walking tanks are nigh invincible and can be equipped with all kinds of heavy weapons proving that even in death space marines serve the emperor.
Techmarine
Techmarines (Frater Astrotechnicus) are Space Marine mechanical technicians as well as being battle-brothers. They are members of both the Cult Mechanicus and their chapter. They serve a similar role in their Chapter as an Techpriest Enginseer in the Imperial Guard.
ChaplainChaplains are the most well-versed in the knowledge of the Chapter's cult. This knowledge is put to practical use as Chaplains are responsible for the spiritual health, discipline and faith of the Chapter brethren. The bond between Marines and their Chaplains is a strong one. Chaplains are present in a Marine recruit's life as soon as he is chosen as a neophyte, presiding over their indoctrination as recruits as they progress toward becoming full battle-brothers.
Librarian
Librarians are space marines with psychic abilities and are used as scholar warriors who can and do use their abilities in combat
TerminatorTactical Dreadnought Armour was originally designed by the Emperor as a middle ground between the cybernetic Dreadnoughts and the standard Power Armour worn by the Space Marine Legions of the Great Crusade era. Power Armour provided excellent protection against small arms fire but not against heavier weapons, while Dreadnoughts, were very powerful and well-protected but were unable to operate in certain environments (buildings, forests) due to their sheer size and bulk.
Terminators can be equiped with shoulder mounted cyclonic missles, powerfists, and storm bolters.
Assault Terminator
Assault Terminator Squads are outfitted for all-out close combat ability. The Storm Bolter and Powerfist are given up for either a pair of Lightning Claws or the Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield. Lightning Claws are a form of Powerfist with the matter disruption field focused around long blades instead of the glove itself, so these are dedicated to and most effectively used against enemy troops. The Thunder Hammer delivers a powerful blast of energy when it strikes, which can be used to great effect to stun enemy vehicle crews, and the Storm Shield uses an energy field which the bearer can use to deflect attacks, making such Terminators more generalized all-round combatants. Having no ranged weapons, Terminators with these close combat weapons need to get close to the enemy as fast as possible, so they are usually transported by Land Raiders or teleported directly into the enemy's battle lines.
Tactical Space Marine
• Forming the bulk of a space marine fighting force these tactical marines have experience and can operate in almost any combat situation.
Space Marine Sergeant
These space marines have centuries of combat service and have vast amounts of experience, they lead by example and are the teachers and leaders of the frontline force.
Assault Marines
An Assault Marine is a Space Marine that is equipped with weapons that are specialized towards melee combat at close quarters and serves as part of an Assault Squad. The term Assault Marine refers to Imperial Space Marines equipped in such a manner.
Space Marine armor has progressed greatly over time to
what it is now.
MK1 Power Armor "Thunder Armor"This is the type of armour worn by the techno-barbarian factions
that dominated the Earth prior to the Emperor's ascendancy. When the Emperor began the conquest of Earth, the proto-Space
Marines which formed part of his retinue were armoured in the same way as the warriors of the other warlords. A thunderbolt and lightning symbol was displayed on the breastplate of warriors loyal
to the Emperor - this was the personal badge of the Emperor in those days, predating the Imperial Aquila which only became the symbol of the Imperium much later. The emblem gives the suit its
common name – Thunder Armour. Thunder Armour was not an enclosing suit and offered no life support functions, being unnecessary while the fighting was
confined to Earth. This early armour was produced on a completely local basis. There
was no standard design, individual suits varied heavily and their exact designs were often a matter of personal taste.
The main part of the armour is the massive powered torso which encloses the chest and arms. Coiled energy cables beneath the
armour plating transmit power from the power pack on the back to the arms, greatly increasing physical strength. Since fighting on
Earth during the period was primarily close-quarters, the strength of a warrior's chest and arms was of paramount importance. The
legs of this armour are not power-armoured at all, but are enclosed in tough padded breaches. Although uncommon, the best equipped warriors sometimes wore armoured greaves and
armoured boots.
MK2 Power Armor "Crusade Armor"After the conquest of the main planets of the Solar system, the factories on Mars were set to work constructing a new type of armour for the Emperor's elite Space Marines. This armoured suit is commonly referred to as Crusade Armour, since it was designed with the planned Great Crusade in
mind. It was the first fully enclosed power armour, making it suitable for conquest of space.
The Crusade Armour is fully plated, and the legs are also power armored. The plates are arranged into articulated
hoops, for increased maneuverability. The chest coils, which were kept on the outside of the armour plating on Mark 1
armour for cooling purposes, have now been placed on the inside of the chest plates, so that they are better protected,
thanks to more efficient cooling mechanisms. The back pack is roughly the same size as that on the mark 1 armour, but is much more efficient, and also includes extra life support, air
recycling and fluid recovery equipment, as well as automated medical devices that have remained a part of space marine
armour ever since. The helmet is fitted with automatic sensory devices developed on Mars, this allows the wearer to see and hear as though not wearing a helmet, and, since all information is transmitted to a computer in the helmet before being transmitted directly to the
wearer's brain via neural link, blinding lights and deafening noises can be muted so that they don't harm the wearer. The
wearer is also able to see in the infra-red and ultra-violet spectrum, and images can be zoomed in and magnified.
MK3 Power Armor “Iron Armor”
This model dates from the wars of the Great Crusade waged close to the galactic core. Many of these worlds were the Squat
Homeworlds, which were not pleased to find themselves the object of galactic conquest. The Squats' independent and
stubborn nature along with the conditions of the fighting spurred the creation of this new armour type. This armour was ideal when cover was minimal and combat was a matter of frontal assault. Mark 3 was never intended to replace the previous Mark but to provide a specialized suit with heavier protection. It has more
frontal protection than the Mark 2 Armour, but the weight of the rear armour was lessened to compensate. The suit uses a heavy armoured helmet with sloping plates designed to deflect shots to the left and right. The helmet inspired the Mark 4 and 6 helmet
designs. While successful in the conditions it was designed for -
particularly, tunnel fighting and boarding actions - the armour is too clumsy and uncomfortable for conventional fighting. As the
most visually brutal of all Marine armour, it is sometimes worn by ceremonial guards.
It is commonly called the Iron Suit or Armorum Ferrum in recognition of its great strength.
MK4 Power Armor "Imperial Maximus Suit"After the end of the Great Crusade the Space Marines found their armour wearing out. While some Legions chose to continue local production and maintenance, the Adeptus Mechanicus of Mars
started design new variant, which was to be the Mark 4 or Imperial Maximus suit.
At the Mark 4 stage of the power armour development, Space Marine armour began to take on an appearance recognizable as
contemporary power armour, its most main change being the abandonment of the separate abutting plates in favour of larger
inflexible armour casings incorporating flexible joints. This marginally reduced mobility but was far easier to produce and
maintain. Technical secrets recovered on newly conquered worlds allowed
Mars to develop the more efficient armour, improving the quality of protection and reducing the suit's weight at the same time.
Improved armouring of the power cables allowed the main arm and chest supply to be safely relocated to the exterior of the armour, while the use of new material reduced the size and number of
cables. The helmet was a completely new design, the basic shape inspired
by the sweeping front of the Mark 3. In Mark 3 and later versions the helmet is no longer fixed, but moves with the wearer's head. This represented the constructors increasing experience with neural
connector gear and the new materials which flooded into the Martian workshops as the Crusade progressed.
Mk. IV armour was envisioned at the time to be the ultimate and final type of Space Marine armour, able to offer the best protection in a variety of conditions. Many of the Space Marine Legions were
entirely or partially re-equipped with it.1 As a result of its widespread production and use prior to and during the Horus Heresy, Mk. 4
suits are the most common of the pre-Heresy armour Marks still in service during the 41st Millennium.
MK5 Power Armor "Heresy Armor"
The equipping of the legions was only partially complete when the Horus Heresy broke out. Many of the newly equipped Legions turned against the Imperium while many loyal Legions had old style armour. With war damage and mobile operations resupply for damaged equipment was difficult or impossible. Marine artificers and Techmarines had to use old style equipment from older models to keep the legions fighting. The Mark 5 is commonly called the Heresy Suit. This pattern is distinguished by a studded helmet, shoulder plate and greaves. These studs are the tops of bolts which attach each layer of the armour to one another. The helmet appears to be an early version of the Mk. VII helmet, although it is significantly more low-tech in its design.
MK6 Power Armor "Corvus Armor"
At the end of production of the Mark 4 type a long term research project began to replace the
existing power armour. This lead to the production of the Corvus Suit as a stopgap
measure using a mixture of new and old features. This armor is sometimes known as "Beakie
Armor" due to the beak-like shape of the helmet.
MK7 Power Armor "AquilaArmor"
Mark 7 armour was developed during the Horus Heresy, and remains in use as the most common form of power armour ten thousand years later. It represents the final major development of Mark 6
armour. While the final battle for Mars was underway, the Imperium realised the planet would eventually be
lost. Armour development teams were transferred to Earth to continue, incorporating their latest work into the armour type that would become Mark 7. As Mars
fell to Horus, the new armour began reaching the Space Marines on Earth and Luna.
Mark 7's main improvement is the newly designed chest plastron which covers the chest and arm
cabling. The chest bears the Imperial Eagle, giving the armour its common name of Armorum Impetor, or
Eagle Armour. This mark abandons the studded shoulder armour plate, and replaces the helmet. As
Mark 7 is a development of Mark 6, both have a great deal in common, and parts from one mark are readily
interchangeable with parts from the other.
Mark 8 "Errant Armor"
The suit itself is a highly modified Mark 7, with additional fixed armour plates on the torso that now enclose all of the suits cables, which were vulnerable to weapons fire, and a new armored collar protects the helmets respirator, and also addressed the vunerability issues of the neck joint, which had been know to act as a "shell-trap", (a round could hit the chest armour and deflect up into the neck joint). The new collar required a new helmet design, which caused problems for backward compatibility with earlier helmet types . Mark 8 armor has only seen limited production thus far, and is seen in limited numbers on the battlefields of the 41st millennium. Often, it is worn by officers or squad leaders as a symbol of rank.
the Imperial Guard The Imperial Guard is the largest and most diverse organization the galaxy has ever seen, containing billions of men from a million different worlds, united under the banner of the Imperium of Man. The entire diversity of the massive Imperium is encapsulated in its ranks. Despite its awesome power, however, the Imperial Guard constantly struggles to protect the Imperium from its many enemies. The mighty Tyranid hive fleets batter at the Eastern Fringe, Ork Waaagh!s erupt without warning or pause, the damned Traitor Legions pour from the Eye of Terror hungry for Mankind’s souls, mysterious Eldar raiders strike without mercy, the ancient Necrons sally from their tomb worlds and numerous emergent empires, such as the Tau, rise up to challenge Humanity’s mastery. Against these diverse and often incomprehensible threats, the Imperial Guard pits human resolve and ingenuity in an unending battle with an inimical universe. In the midst of genetically engineered super-beings, alien killing machines, warrior mystics, and technology that approaches sorcery in its sophistication, the Imperial Guard are mere soldiers. Clad in a flak jacket and carrying a lasgun, they have to contend with the most terrifying threats, relying on numbers, massed firepower and a bayonet with some guts behind it. As such it is easy to identify with these brave souls and to see in them the qualities of true heroes.

The Forces of chaos Ten thousand years ago, at the birth of the Imperium of Man, the Warmaster, Horus, Primarch of the Luna Wolves Legion and devout follower of the ways of Chaos, betrayed the Emperor of Mankind, and led the daemonic forces of Chaos in galactic civil war.
Several Space Marine Legions rebelled against the "False Emperor" under the persuasive-yet-corrupt leadership of Warmaster Horus. Space Marine fought brother Space Marine, culminating in a final battle at the Imperial Palace on Holy Terra.Though the forces of the Imperium were victorious, the Emperor of Mankind was mortally wounded and encased in the Golden Throne to sustain his life. Meanwhile, the surviving rebel Space Marines fled for the Eye of Terror, a massive warp storm on the north-eastern edge of the galaxy. Here, warp space mixed with real space and the Daemons of Chaos managed to manifest themselves. The Traitor Space Marines took refuge in the Eye of Terror, launching raids and Black Crusades from their maelstrom base. These Chaos Space Marines became an endless plague upon the Imperium, wreaking havoc in the name of their Chaos gods.Chaos Space Marines have most of the capabilities of regular Space Marines, though they also have Chaos abilities and gear that make them unique. Each of the four Chaos gods have Chaos Space Marines devoted to their cult, be they Noise Marines in the service of Slaneesh to Plague Marines in the service of Nurgle. They can unleash untold horrors on their opponents, from Daemon Packs to Chaos Defilers, and can be organised in an infinite number of ways, which is appropriate because Chaos embodies disorder itself. In the end, Chaos Space Marine armies are feared opponents that are seen as highly unpredictable by those who fight them

Eldar The Eldar are an incredibly ancient alien race, who once ruled a vast empire across the stars. Then came the hideous times of the Fall, when the Eldar fell from power. Though they are now few in number, the Eldar are one of the most technologically advanced races in the galaxy.
The story of the Eldar is one of regret and decline. Millennia ago, their race held the galaxy in their grasp. Their power was great; the Eldar could reshape entire worlds by the power of thought alone. Nothing threatened their dominance, and the Eldar began to lose themselves in the decadence of their comfortable existence. However, their decadent indulgences exacted a terrible price. Unbeknownst to the Eldar, the energy from their depravity had caused increasing disturbances in the Warp. Eventually, these disturbances coallesced into a Chaos god, Slaanesh. When Slaanesh was born, the energy from his birthcry travelled through the Warp and obliterated the minds of the majority of the Eldar race. The few survivors, scattered on craftworlds on the edge of the galaxy, realised what had happened and committed themselves to avoiding the same fate. By devoting themselves to self-discipline, the remaining Eldar avoided the decadent follies of their brethren. Now, the Eldar fight to keep their ancient race from extinction. On the battlefield, the Eldar can best be described as a "finesse" army. Alone, each of their troop types is rather limited. In combination, the troop types compliment each other perfectly and are a fearsome force of war.

The Dark Eldar Piratical raiders who launch devastating attacks throughout the galaxy, the Dark Eldar are a race to be feared, forever seeking new victims to satisfy their depraved pleasures.
These demented cousins of the Eldar are a curse upon all races of the galaxy. For endless millennia, the Dark Eldar have preyed upon other species, butchering or imprisoning all whose path they cross. Their piratical raids strike without warning, smashing defences quickly and then disappearing before reinforcements arrive. When a Dark Eldar raiding force appears on a planet, its inhabitants know one thing: it is far better to die fighting the Dark Eldar than be taken alive by them.
Thousands of years ago, shortly after the fall of the Eldar race, the Eldar and Dark Eldar responded to their crisis in two very different ways. Where the Eldar tried to preserve their race through self-control and discipline, the Dark Eldar chose another route. The Dark Eldar believed that they could stave off the predations of the Chaos gods by giving them what they wanted: unceasing pain and blood. If the Dark Eldar could torture and slay the lesser races, then perhaps the Dark Gods would be satiated and ignore the Eldar race.In short, the entire Dark Eldar philosophy boils down to this: "Better you than me."In combat, the Dark Eldar truly are a raiding force. Speed is their ally – many a Dark Eldar army has won by outflanking their opponents. Their Reaver Jetbikes slice through enemy troops, while their Raider transports quickly bring Dark Eldar Warrior squads into battle. Even when on foot, the Dark Eldar are frighteningly fast with their Fleet of Foot special rule.Dark Eldar armour is weak, but their firepower and close combat skills are fearsome. They cannot last in a sustained slug-fest, so the Dark Eldar strive to attack both quickly and hard.

The Necrons
The Necrons are a mysterious race of skeletal warriors that have lain dormant in their stasis-tombs for millions of years. They are ancient beyond reckoning, pre-dating even the Eldar. Yet, they are beginning to awaken, for the galaxy is ripe for harvest. The Necrons' story is one of an ancient betrayal. Aeons ago, the Necrontyr race clung to their short lives in fear of oblivion at the hands of their massive and ravaging star. They pushed the limits of science in an effort to lengthen their lives, but to no avail. Then, the star gods known as the C'tan were discovered, offering immortality at a terrible price. The Necrontyr agreed, and their souls were encased in living metal bodies. What they did not know was that the process dulled their minds and senses so they became slaves of the C'tan. The C'tan needed warrior-slaves to harvest the life forms of the galaxy so the star gods can feast on souls, and the C'tan's new Necrons served this purpose well. After life across the galaxy ran thin millions of years ago, the Necrons went into stasis, waiting for life to grow back. Now, in the 41st millennium, they have found a galaxy teeming with life again. In combat, the Necrons are unyielding war machines that bring swift death to their prey. Armed with gauss weapons that strip an opponent's molecules one layer at a time, the Necrons have fierce firepower. Also, they have a remarkable ability to repair themselves, a special rule known as We'll Be Back! This gives the Necrons incredible staying power in a battle, which makes them an enemy dreaded by all races in the world of Warhammer 40,000.

The Orks
The Orks infest every corner of the galaxy. Their primitive yet robust technology, tough physiology and compulsively violent behaviour means that they remain a constant threat to anything they encounter.Orks are the most widespread and warlike race of aliens in the bloodstained galaxy of the 41st millennium. They only live for one thing and that's war. They are constantly fighting anything that gets in the way, even themselves! In fact the only thing keeping the Orks from uniting and bringing down the end of the galaxy is their inability to get along. Were they to organise and unify, they would quickly overwhelm and crush all opposition.Since the Ork's appetite for violence is nearly unquenchable, they excel at causing extensive damage to cities, ammo depots, forests, planets, and even star systems! Using unstable, yet powerful, weapons and strange devices built by talented Ork Mekboyz, the Orks possess surprisingly high tech devices despite their primitive nature. The basic Ork Boyz is a musclebound, hulking monster capable of ripping a man apart with its bare hands. Their battle scarred green skin is tough and highly resistant to pain. In combat they can transform even the most common object into a lethal killing instrument. Orks aren't the brightest creatures in the galaxy, but they do possess a certain low cunning that can catch an overconfident commander off guard. In a word, the Orks are built for war.

The Tau The Tau believe that now is their time; their race, their empire will bring unity to all. There is no foe their technology cannot overcome, no quandry their science cannot resolve. The very stars themselves will be reforged in the cause of the Greater Good.On the Eastern Fringe of the galaxy, a new race has emerged to challenge the might of the Imperium of Man and the other established races in the 41st millennium. They are the Tau, a surprisingly advanced race that has organised itself around a single guiding principle known as "The Greater Good."By setting aside individualism to serve the needs of society as a whole, the Tau have developed and expanded at an astounding rate. In just over 6,000 years, they evolved from savannah-dwelling primitives to space-faring colonists. This unhindered progress has given the Tau confidence that there is no obstacle that their society and their science cannot overcome. Indeed, they believe that they can help the rest of the galaxy find their way to peace and prosperity. All the other races must do is devote themselves to serving the Greater Good. Not surprisingly, the established races have other plans. To help "bring them around," the Tau have invented some of the most lethal ranged weaponry in Warhammer 40,000. Their basic troop type, called Fire Warriors, are armed with pulse rifles and pulse carbines that can punch through armour like a comet through a dust cloud.Pulse weapons would be devastating enough, but the Tau also have power armour and anti-gravitic vehicles galore. Their Crisis and Stealth Battlesuits have unrivaled mobility on the battlefield, popping out from behind cover, firing an thunderous barrage, and disappearing again before the enemy can react. The Tau's Hammerhead Gunships pound opposing forces to bits while their Devilfish transport reposition Fire Warriors for better shots. At a distance, the Tau can lay waste to all but the hardiest of enemies.Yet, the Tau disdain up-close fighting and are unskilled in hand-to-hand combat. They have hired the mercenary Kroot to make up for this lack, but the Tau still try to avoid close-quarter engagements. Despite this limitation, the Tau are an emerging force in the galaxy that the established races cannot ignore.

Tryanids
The Tyranids are the most rapidly evolving race in the galaxy. They are super-predators, destined to hunt all others to extinction.Across the stars, a locust-like swarm of aliens attacked the Imperium of Man and the other species of the galaxy with ravenous ferocity. Known as Tyranids, this race of bio-mechanical monstrosities is driven by a single, narrow purpose: to feed. By ingesting the biomass of entire worlds, the Tyranids grow while absorbing genetic material so they can evolve into more-lethal killing machines. The first of the Tyranid hive fleets that attacked the galaxy were stopped by the forces of Humanity, but barely and at a terrible cost. Whether they can hold back the next wave of hive fleets is debatable at best. Humanity's only comfort in this is that the Tyranids are after all biomass in the galaxy, not just humans.Only fools confuse the ferocity of the Tyranids with a lack of intellect. The Hive Mind orchestrates the activities of the swarm to perpetuate the survival of their race with cold determination. They have consumed entire galaxies before and will not be stopped by any resistance.
