One may develop the most technically sophisticated, accurate appraisal system, but if that system is not accepted and supported by employees, its effectiveness ultimately will be limited. </li><li> 3. Avoid the Double Curse-Research termrelated to the fact that some of the veryabilities that make a person good atperforming a job are the same abilitiesneeded to realize whether he/she is failing orsucceeding. Manager, Coach, or Mentor hold up themirror to the employee to educate them onthe difference of good and poor performance. </li><li> 4. Regularly talking about individual progress In the last six months, someone at work has talkedto me about my progress. Formal appraisal systems are good but whatis better is 1-on-1 coaching and feedback- Regular, personal two way communication Individualized attention Performance Evaluations should not be a surprise</li></ol>
