Heroin. Heroin affects the central nervous

system by depressing it. Heroin depresses nerve transmission in sensory pathways of the spinal cord and brain that signal pain. This explains why heroin is such an effective pain killer. Heroin also inhibits brain centres controlling coughing, and breathing.

Crystal meth. Crystal meth can lead to major

damage to the nervous system as continuously taking the crystal meth on a regular basis drug tolerance builds quickly. During withdrawal, users of the drug can experience anxiety attacks, severe levels of depression and even have ideas of suicide.

Some dependent meth addicts also experience hallucinations that can be auditory, visual or sensory in nature. Personality disorders can even develop in people that have used crystal meth for a long period of time. It can also lead to schizophrenic episodes, memory problems, attention deficits, and difficulty with problem-solving.

Cocaine. Cocaine can cause serious long-term effects to the

central nervous system, including an increased chance of heart attack, stroke, and convulsions, combined with a higher likelihood of brain seizures, respiratory failures, and, ultimately, death. An overdose of cocaine raises blood pressure to unsafe heights, often resulting brain damage. Trying to quit taking the drug is extremely hard, as the user may feel nauseous, irritable, and paranoid. Also, in some cases, a sudden death may occur, although it is impossible to predict who could be killed suddenly by cocaine ingestion.

GHB. After taking GHB, it travels in the bloodstream

to the brain. GHB interacts with many neurotransmitters or chemicals in the brain. GHB acts by depressing the central nervous system. The drugs can make you become weak and confused or even pass out so that you are unable to refuse sex or defend yourself. If you are drugged, you might not remember what happened while you were drugged.

Effects of GHB •Relaxation •Drowsiness •Dizziness •Nausea •Problems seeing •Loss of consciousness (black out) •Seizures •Can't remember what happened while drugged •Problems breathing •Tremors •Sweating •Vomiting •Slow heart rate •Dream-like feeling •Coma •Death

Magic mushrooms.magic mushrooms affect the brain or the central nervous system. Most of the magic mushrooms are non-poisonous, but they can alter perception and create hallucinations by acting on the central nervous system.
