• Lowers a person's blood flow to body parts like the fingers and toes.

• The brain and the nervous system is active for a short time and then reduced.

• Dizziness. • Nausea. • Watery eyes. • Weakened sense of taste and smell. • Loss of appetite.

The affect of smoking vary from person to person below are the most common effects from smoking tobacco:

Smoking is a stimulant.

The effects of smoking to an athlete are:

The decrease of lung function. Which makes it harder to breath.

When the lungs become less efficient there is a decrease in

stamina.Less performance, as muscles that don’t get enough oxygen

become tired more quickly.

Smoking affect reaction time which is vital while racing or competing in

other sports.

Smoking is also very bad for your eye

sight , by smoking you are altering the tear tissue in your eyes which could

result in allergic eye condictions.

ORGANS AFFECTED AND CELLS DAMAGED

The brain and lungs are majorly affected by smoking.

Tar will remove the cilia in the lungs. Cilia are small hairs that pick up bacteria.

The brain cells will become addicted to the nicotine in the cigarette.

The red cells cannot carry as much oxygen around the body as they prefer to transport carbon monoxide instead. This increases the heart rate.

WHAT INSIDE A CIGARETTE?

Nicotine is what makes a cigarette additive.

Carbon monoxide causes an increase of heart rate as the red blood cells prefer CO to oxygen.

The effects of alcohol to the average person are:

• If you drink more than the advised amount of units of alcohol then this could result in liver problems.

• Depression is a sign of someone drinking too much alcohol.

• Poor memory occurs.

Alcohol is a depressant.

Alcohol can effect an athletes strength,

reaction time, skill and heart

function.

If an athlete is tested and has had excessive alcohol, he or

she can be disqualified from their

event.

Even a few drinks, can reverse your

hard work by erasing the effects of your workouts,

reducing your endurance and

compromising your mental game

Alcohol slow the passage or message between nerve cells and the brain.The brain and

the liver are all affected if you smoke.

Smoking weakens muscle cells.

CANNABIS

Smoking cannabis will give you. • Bloodshot eyes • Rise blood pressure• Dry mouth• Anxiety• Time distortion• Sense of wellbeing or appreciation for

music• Impaired short term memory• Affect fertility Cannabis is a

depressant and hallucination.

Smoking cannabis would lower your

concentration, while competing you must be alert at all times.

Cannabis lowers your lung capacity which would effect

your performance.

Cannabis changes your mood so therefore effects the brainYour would

have damaged cells.

Smoking cannabis would make your eyes go bloodshot.

Cannabis makes your mouth go dry.
