THE BRAND - Whip will have a separate brand identity to VISA Global Logistics. Although similar in imagery. the Whip identity means it can be postioned and promoted in the market separately.

A similar example of this is our client Cantarella Bros, who have brands for their products such as Vittoria Coffee, Santa Vittoria Water and Nutino. The advantage is brands can attract different niches audiences without compromising the core brand of VGL.

Agent highlight Throughout the month of September VISA Global Logistics offices were delighted to have visitors from our partner in Northern Europe, Logfret.

Logfret is an international freight forwarding company comprised of 190 offices and agencies in over 65 countries. For VISA Global Logistics, they are our official agents for shipments coming out of France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Poland.

The delegates that visited Australia included Marc Millet, Logfret General Manager, Hans Bergwerff, General Manager Logfret Netherlands and Marco Croes, Sales Manager and route development at Logfret Netherlands. During their trip they visited Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

The trip could only be described as a success with x sales visits in Adelaide, 15 in Melbourne, 17 in Sydney and z in Brisbane. The team are looking to focus on Australia as a market for the next few years and build both their profile in this region, as well as strengthening the partnership with VISA Global Logistics.

Marco Croes said of the visit, ”Thank you so very much for your time and introductions. It has been a pleasure meeting you and visiting Australian cities. We are very positive for the future of VISA and Logfret. The prospects which are out there are amazing and there are so many more. As we mentioned to you, one of the focus markets we have is Australia & New Zealand and let us all make it work!”

The team from Logfret also showed us an example of a trucking rates tool they have developed for VISA to use. This will mean that sales teams in VISA will no longer have to wait overnight to calculate exworks charges, giving us a significant competitive advantage over others in the freight forwarding market.

To learn more about Logfret or to request a rate, you can contact Marco Croes at [email protected]

Founded in Europe in the early 1970’s by Jean-Francois Millet, the company has grown under his keen insight and supervision. Now family owned and internationally operated by his two sons -- Marc Millet runs the European, Middle Eastern and Asian divisions, while Christian Millet spearheads growth in North and South America.

Working across oceans and cultures has its own challenges. Logfret has invested in its growth and in the range of services it provides. Its size, profile and network are perfect for the demands of the new millennium. Logfret supports industrial companies and manufacturers with a worldwide network servicing both Fortune 500 Corporations and small to mid-sized companies. Each project is handled in a confidential and professional manner, strengthening Logfret’s reputation daily.

Sydney celebrationsVISA Global Logistics wins Amber Tile’s ‘Service Provide of the Year’On Thursday the 19th of September VISA Global Logistics was invited to celebrate the 40th birthday of one of our clients, Amber Tiles.

On the night VISA Global Logistics was awarded the ‘Service Provider of the Year’ award for 2013.

Throughout 2013 VISA Global Logistics and Amber Tiles have worked together to not only create logistics solutions, but also to help the community around us. A great example of this was the McGrath Foundation Casino Day fundraiser, that was supported by a team from VISA Global and highlighted in an earlier edition of OneTrack Mind.

A special congratulations to the VISA employees that have looked after Amber Tiles including Rabih Lahoud, Sylvia Maragos and David Bobbin.

China 1. TEU Volume ex China/HKG to Australia destinations.

Annual Volume as at 31 August , 2012 : 16460 TEU

Annual volume as at 31 August , 2013 : 17874 TEU

This reflects a YTD 2013 growth of almost 9.0% ( 1414 TEU ) and we believe is an excellent result and is reflected primarily by the securing of new business and most importantly the maintenance and retention of current customers.

The growth / development by branch is as follows :

Adelaide : + 128 TEU

Brisbane : + 272 TEU

Fremantle : - 277 TEU

Melbourne : + 253 TEU

Sydney : + 1015 TEU

Others : + 23 TEU

We believe we can also look forward to a quite successful last four months of the 2013 year !

2. Air Freight

It has been pleasing to see renewed activity and communication for our air freight traffic , especially to MEL and SYD. This appears to be primarily from our existing sea freight customers and is great to see.

The new business from Colette in Sydney ( ex TAO and HKG ) will also greatly enhance our overall number of shipments and the kgs volume.

Kate Zhao and Jessica Zhou ( both based in SHA ) and manage all the air freight business from the northern Y-V locations / airports and this is completed in conjunction with our two wholesalers UBI and Vten.

3. TEU Volume ex Y-V China with EWL , UK

Y-V has had a partnership with EWL , UK for some 18 months now and is really delighted with the recent development - in January , 2013 we shipped 39 TEUs and in August we shipped 218 TEUs.

The change has primarily been in new reefer containers ex Qingdao ( frozen seafood etc ) and ex Xiamen ( garments ).

Andy Raglan from EWL UK will visit SHA , NGB and TAO in the last week of October , 2013.

4. Y-V Business activity with South Korea

The Y-V C&F LCL consolidation dept in SHA ships some 1500 cbms per month to the ports of Busan and Inchon ( this represents approx. 1 x 40 ft LCL consolidation every day ) and following a recent agency visit to their various partners , receive approx. 750 cbms per month by return in import LCL consolidation cargo.

The recent visit also enabled Y-V to share and promote their FOB services ( handling and coordination of destination nomination cargo as is done for AU / NZ ) with the successful securing of the Eland ( a large Korean conglomerate ) construction cargo in conjunction with ANC International Inc in Seoul.

A Chinese / Korean speaking person will in fact be employed in Shanghai effective end September to further support this development and importantly ensure clear communication lines.

It is the wish to additionally enhance this type of programme with the Y-V partners and agents in countries such as VN , TH , ID , JP etc - with the next visit being planned to EWL , Thailand in October.

Italy Air FreightThis month, Italy had the challenge of sending 7000 kgs of cheese via air freight to Melbourne! The job required 400 kgs of dry ice. Andrea from the Reggio Emilia office sent over some photos to show us the process.

Brisbane BlurbIts Spring and Brisbane flourishes yet again. Our figures are up, the drivers are busy & the phones won’t stop “it’s that time of Year again”!

The TEU count between Adelaide and Brisbane has seen a late run from Brisbane therefore leaving its counterpart in its dust as stated in last month’s One Track Mind. (I can feel a Tsingtao coming on)

Brisbane worked with White Night Logistics on the Coffs Harbour Rally with a successful delivery of 21 x 40’ and 2 x 20’ SOC at night, on the weekend and in a small delivery window. This has become an annual event and after a second year running, looks to become a regular special event Visa Brisbane will be a part of. (Please see photos attached of Visa in action at the event)

We have a new team member started this week “Mike Lyons” joining the small transport team to handle the monster volumes we have recently experienced. Mike comes from a transport carrier background and will provide some much needed assistance and relief to a battle weary team.

Our Graduate “John” had an injection of Sydney this month meeting with the Sydney Grads and their New Zealand counterpart “Luke” for further Sales training on the “Visa Way” before in the near future being set free on the road to drum up some new business for the branch.

Thats all from BrisVegas this month, let the TEU counts roll on.

Marco from Logfret, Netherlands had an eventful day in Adelaide for 1x Day of Sales Calls. Our Office computers were down most of the day then Kevin’s Mobile Telephone Battery kicked the bucket causing a lot of frustrating communication problems that day. Marco, John and Kevin are working on some very positive prospective business here in Adelaide as a result. The day ended very well when Marco and Kevin had to have a bottle or 2 or 3 of Marco’s favourite beer, “Heineken”.

Bec and Kieran competed in the recent City to Bay 12KM walk held in Adelaide 15/09 – due to issues with the timers their estimated time was just under 2 hours – pictures attached...needless to say things in the office were pretty quiet the following week due to their recovery.

Never one to blow his own horn.....no pun intended. Kevin recently competed in 2013 Brass Band competitions in New Zealand in Woolston Brass. As the overall winners of this prestigious competition for the last 4 years they thought it best to let someone else take 1st place and they proudly took out 3rd place among the 10 competing bands......Kevin is 2nd from the left in the first row.

PerthIt’s not all business breakfasts for the Perth team who are also known to let their hair down. They had their office Sundowner on Friday (9th August) night to welcome Anisa to the team, which was held at the Raffles Hotel.

Poor Janice missed out of the fun due to illness however the rest of the Perth office enjoyed many laughs and a few too many warming beverages.

All, that is of course except, Aidan “I’m getting married in 6 weeks – gotta do as I’m told” McCartan.

Below is the photo of Aidan enjoying his MILK shot.

Aidan was under instructions to be home by 8pm so he joined with us but on the “hard” stuff. Maybe we should start calling him “Kitty”

Perth Manager Raff and sales rep Shannon recently attendedthe state budget breakfast event in WA which included the Premier WA Colin Barnett & State Treasurer Troy Buswell.

The breakfast was to debate on the Issues impacting the future of WA business & network opportunities.

Events such as these represent the strong impact and effort the WA team has made since their beginnings in 2005. Continuing to grow and become integral members of the business community means the great things for VISA Global Logistics as a whole.

Meet the team

Kate is in charge of air export & import for Yuantai-VISA in the Shanghai office. She has been part of the YV team for nearly 2 years.

Kate says her favourite part of the role with Yuantai VISA is finding solutions that provide customer satisfaction for the people she works with. She also enjoys working with a young, vibrant team; “The Shanghai team is a young group, nearly all of the people are from 20 - 35 years old.”

Kate Zhao - China Air Operation Coordinator Francesco Petrilli - Italy Export Docs OperatorFrancesco has been with the Gambogi-VISA team since April 2011 and in his role he operates the export documents department in Reggio Emilia. This involves preparing the required documentation neccessary to export goods from Italy to the rest of the world.

Francesco enjoys speaking to many different people and shippers from all over the Italian territory and keeping up to date with Australia import laws.

Shohre Mansouri - Melbourne OneTrack Developer

Shohre works as one of the key developers in Melbourne’s OneTrack team and has been there since March 2012. Although she primarily describes her role as, “Coding. A lot of coding.”, Shohre also has a key role in deciding which direction the OneTrack systems is developed, along with the whole team in Footscray.

She says one of the great things about this role is working is such a dynamic industry - learning about the world of freight and finding innovative and creative solutions to problems.

John Auciello - Adelaide Operations, Customer Service and Sales

John continues the tradition of the Adelaide office by being a little bit of everything. John’s official roles currently includes customer service, operations and sales but his unofficial roles branch out even more.

As crazy as it gets, John says he enjoys having new challenges every

He also enjoys working with the group in the office, “Reggio Emilia is a very exciting group of staff. Everyone is organised with their work, we help each other and we collaborate many times a day.”

“My dream is to come to Australia and I hope to work with all my Australian collegues directly in Australia one day.”

Jen Tully - Brisbane Customs Broker

Lucas Gatt - NSW Client Services ManagerLucas’s role as client services manager fits perfectly with his personality. Since starting in VISA in 2008 the part of the job Lucas has enjoyed the most is helping others, whether that be his clients or fellow VGL staff.

Being in this role means Lucas has to understand every aspect of the shipment process, and how all the departments within VISA work together so he can keep his clients

informed along the way.

“I am fortunate to work at such a large company where the owners of the business are there to learn off everyday & are so heavily involved in the day to day running.”

When asked what makes the Sydney team special, Lucas responded; “What kind of special are you referring to?”

day to solve - to keep the job interesting. After 8 years with VISA, there aren’t many challenges John hasn’t seen. At the end of the day however, it’s the Adelaide team that he likes most of all;

“We all work in tandem together. It’s good to know we have the skill set so that people are away, others can easily jump in.

Jen has been part of the team that looks after the customs solutions in Brisbane for the last 5 years.

She enjoys the vatiery of her work, everyday could pose a different product to work with - from food to furniture to break bulk.

The people she works with in Brisbane are also a big part of what Jen enjoys about her job.

“The Brisbane team are like a family now, we have known each other for so long. It’s great because we’re really comfortable around each other and know how to deal with each other in good and bad moods.”
