The Eagle’s Eye Principal’s Corner
Dear Parents,
Hope everyone had a ling and wonderful winter break! That might also
include last week’s wonderfully warm weather. To some veteran teachers and
parents, this seems to be a magical time of year where students begin to mature
and are able to demonstrate so much of what they’ve learned. As educators, we
look forward to refocusing students’ attention back to reading and enjoying their
own learning. Please help us by working with your child to establish some worth-
while & attainable goals for improved or continued academic performance. The
time spent working with them will be well worth it!!
The winter weather has been kind to us so far, but I would ask once
again that you refer to the district calendar for the radio and TV stations that
broadcast school delays and closings. In the event of any predicted winter storm
warnings, it is a good idea to check just to be sure that school hasn’t been de-
layed or closed in anticipation of ice or several inches of snow. Kindergarten par-
ents should be sure to post or keep handy the schedules for 1 and 2 hour delays
and early dismissals due to inclement weather.
Please check the district calendar to note that we have two early dismis-
sals scheduled for January 17th and 18th at 1:00 (PM Kindergarten does not
report). There will be NO SCHOOL for students on January 21st! Please make
sure you mark these dates on your personal calendar and make the necessary
arrangements for child care.
Pre-registration for 2013-2014 kindergarten is scheduled for Wednes-
day and Thursday, February 20 and 21st from 9:30 am-3PM at Owatin Creek
Elementary. If you or someone you know needs additional information, please call
our office at 610-406-4580. At this time, there have not been any changes in
the half and full day session schedules.
Progress reports are scheduled to be sent home for elementary stu-
dents on Monday, January 28th. Please discuss these reports with your child
and provide praise or support as appropriate. As always, specific concerns should
be addressed with your child and his/her classroom teacher. Thanks to all of you
for your outstanding and generous support for your children and our staff!
Sincerely, Susan Cook

- Mrs. Holleman
We had a fantastic turnout of stu-dents and their families for our 2012 annual Gingerbread Night! There were so many AMAZING creations and we were so happy to see each and every one! Thank you to Mrs. Lamm for so graciously allowing so many structures to be displayed in the library for all the staff and stu-dent body to see. We collected 12 boxes, double layered with non-perishable food items for the Exeter food bank. The volunteers at Refor-mation Lutheran Church, where the
food bank is held every third Thurs-day of the month, were thrilled with our contribution! The food bank serves approximately 180 families in our local community. Gingerbread Night would not have been possible without the wonderful volunteers who gave their time to make it such a success. A huge thank you to Mr. Hirshorn; Sue Ann Evans Pochran; Betsy, Emily & Connor Holliday; Jenny, Jake & Addie DeVage, Jeane Serrian, Marcy & JR Strauss, Marti Benson, Lisa Clavell,
Despi Nicoloudakis, Tracie Malthan-er, and our high school community volunteers. We are so very grateful for all that you have done! Best wishes to all for a happy, healthy and joy filled 2013!

Holiday Shoppe 2012
It is always fun watching the kids shop, make crafts, and play while their parents are attending Parent-Teacher Conferences!
They’re also so excited to buy that ‘special’ present for their family members and friends. Many thanks to all those helped with this
year’s Holiday Shoppe.
While C&R Sandwich Shop made delicious hoagies for the two day event, our local Goods provided chips, Pepsi Cola Company
donated drinks to make our meals complete. We are very grateful to Michele Garvin for coordinating the hoagie sale, as well as bak-
ing all of the chocolate chip cookies. We would also like to thank the parents and students who helped set-up, take inventory, clean-
up or volunteered for the event…

We are very fortunate to have a school filled with people
who are dedicated to enriching our children’s lives.
Amongst them was Assistant Principal,
Craig A. Sell. For three years, our
families were very fortunate to have
him as part of our educational team.
The OC APT was also privileged to
have gotten to collaborate with him.
His openness and willingness made it easier for us to plan and
carry out our activities. Not only was he ‘behind’ the scenes
helping with the technology and logistics, he was also ‘on’ the
scenes for many of the school and the APT events. We will truly
miss his warm smile, his warm heart and his sunny disposition! Now, as the Principal at the
Twin Valley Elementary Center, those students and their parents have the opportunity to
have Mr. Sell share in their challenges and successes.
. . . wishing you all the best,
The OC APT Board and Members
Fourth Grade Game Day Owatin Creek Style 100+ energetic and enthusiastic students waited patiently for the Fourth Grade Game Day to begin. For years, it has been one of
the ‘Rights of Passages’ for Owatin Creek fourth graders. On December 20th,students along with their family members filled the
café to play a variety of fun games like Monopoly, Sudoka, and Yandzee. Food, family, friends and games. Couldn’t get any better
than that!!
