Annual Terry Fox Run Raises over $13,000
Thank you to everyone in the Edge community who contributed to our Terry Fox Run fundraising over the last few weeks. As a school, we have combined to raise $13,284 that will go to the Terry Fox Foundation to further fund cancer research. Great job everyone!
One Mountaineer in particular continues to blow us away with her individual fundraising – Chelan Lees. The Grade 12 student-athlete has raised over $7,400 this year, and in total has raised over $30,000 for the Terry Fox Foundation during her eight years at Edge. Last year, she was even the top fundraiser across Canada. We are all very proud of your efforts for this amazing cause, Chelan!
Thank you Health-Care Workers!
Our Grade 4/5’s passed along a big thank you to all of Alberta’s health-care workers, writing messages that will be included in special care packages that one of our Edge parents is putting together (to be sent to ICU staff in Calgary). What an awesome gesture from these young Edge student-athletes!

Congratulations to Grade 11 student-athletes, Eric Jamieson, Justin Kipkie and Nicholas Johnson who signed standard WHL player agreements with the Everett Silvertips, Victoria Royals and Portland Winterhawks, respectively. All three were selected in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft. Eric and Justin have been Mountaineers since 2019, while Nick has been at Edge since 2018.

Three U18 Prep Players Sign WHL Contracts
Pearson Impresses at Calgary Marathon
Congratulations to Grade 12 student-athlete, Russell Pearson, who was one of only four people under 20 to compete in the 42.2 KM portion of the Calgary Marathon in September! He finished 1st in the U20 Division and 55th out of 664 participants with a time of 3:06:10. He also finished 5th in Calgary zone provincial qualifiers for cross country, and will compete in ASAA provincials in Red Deer next week!
Two Mountaineers Selected to U16 Squad for WHL Cup
Congratulations to our two Mountaineers, Charlie Elick and Otto Hanson, who cracked the Team Alberta U16 Male Squad for the 2021 WHL Cup! The event will take place Oct. 20-24 at the Peavey Mart Centrium in Red Deer.
U18 Prep head coach, James Poole, will also be at the WHL Cup, serving as Team Alberta’s video coach. You can read more about the final roster here.

Geremia Commits to Thompson Rivers University
Congratulations to soccer academy student-athlete, Bella Geremia, who has committed to Thompson Rivers University and the TRU WolfPack women’s soccer team. We are excited to see you take this next step in your academic and athletic journey next year!

New Head Coaches for U18 Female Prep and U17 Prep
Please join us in welcoming our two new hockey coaches, Claude Vilgrain and Rob Miller.
Claude is a former Mountaineer – having coached our Midget AA Gold teams back from 2011-13 – and his daughter, Cassandra, is an Edge alumna (class of 2013).
Rob brings over 20 years of playing and coaching experience – including 10 years of head coaching experience ranging from Bantam AA to Midget AAA. He also coached in the AJHL as well. We are excited to have Claude and Rob join the team!
We are looking forward to our next Calgary Flames Sports Bank equipment drive which will be from Oct. 12-22! We will have a bin on-site at Edge for donations. Please take note of urgent needs and items that are currently not being accepted. Thank you for helping us get kids geared up and ready to play!

Bordeniuk Thriving at McGillAwesome to see Class of 2021 grad, Brenna Bordeniuk, thriving at McGill University with the Martlets. In her first month, she has earned the starting goalkeeper position – playing in six of seven games so far this season with a 3-1-2 record and three clean sheets. Keep it up, Brenna!
Steinke Joins BanditsCongratulations to Caden Steinke on joining the AJHL’s Brooks Bandits! Caden has been a Mountaineer since 2017 and moved up the ranks from our U15 team to our U18 Prep team. In 18/19, he was named to the CSSHL All-Academic Team. In 19/20, Caden was the top scorer on U16 Prep with 20 goals and 20 assists. Good luck, Caden!
Rasmussen Commits to Michigan Tech
Congratulations to class of 2019 grad, Kash Rasmussen, on his commitment to Michigan Tech University. Kash has been playing in the AJHL with the Bonnyville Pontiacs. We are excited to see you continue to pursue academics and your hockey career at the same time!

Good luck to Cale Sanders who has signed with the Prince Albert Raiders in the WHL. Cale was a Mountaineer from 2016-2019, playing on our U15 Prep, U16 Prep, and U18 Prep teams. In 2018/19, he was the CSSHL U18 Prep Most Sportsmanlike Player.
He has most recently been in the AJHL with the Oilers, and also played with Regina in the WHL.
Onyskiw Joins SaintsZac Onyskiw spent one year at Edge (2019-20) with our U16 Prep team. He recently signed with the Spruce Grove Saints in the AJHL and picked up his first win on Sept. 19. Way to go, Zac!

Introducing the first step to improving the branding in Kyle Stuart Alumni Arena! On display are 24 distinguished alumni banners that recognize our former Mountaineers that represented Team Canada or have been NHL draft picks. Not to be forgotten, we have a dedicated banner on the west side glass in remembrance of Kyle. We are excited to keep you all updated with more changes to Alumni Arena!
Hrdlicka Debuts with BruinsCongratulations to Class of 2021 grad, Cam Hrdlicka, who made his SJHL debut on Oct. 6 for the Estevan Bruins! Cam was a Mountaineer for three years, and was recognized with the 2021 Principal’s Award for demonstrating exceptional commitment to academics, athletics and character. Best of luck with the Bruins, Cam!
