Permaculture method: It is like a basket which can accommodate a number of concepts.

The method caters Indigenous Knowledge System by encouraging the use of herbs, medicinal plants and wild fruits such as marula processing

The old woman processing marula at school. The school has modified permaculture from its original because there are elements that have been added and some elements have been comprised to suit the climate of Limpopo.

CurriculumThe school transforms institutions of higher learning e.g. Uni Limpopo uses the garden as a learning tool. The school identified that in the curriculum we are failing the how part of survival and we only provide production mechanisms. We adopted the way of using learners in presenting the environment of Toronto. Photo's of learners presenting

RECOMMENDATIONS

Under the present climatic conditions which is a problem to everyone including scientists, we recommend that all schools use permaculture concepts even if we advanced the method. Food and Trees For Africa helps the emerging schools and communities.

Conclusion

The curriculum should not only address the classroom situation but it must also address survival.

If the lion cannot teach the young ones how to survive, they will die.

The same applies to the child. To feed the child at school is not the solution.

This is an advice to the Department of Education and other departments.
