Current and prospective projects:

i. Convention ISTO/BRGM : State of the mechanical and hydrogeological properties to establish a reference state for the future measurements, Optimal sizing of the well and the additional borehole, Setting up geophysical instrumentations.

ii. Thesis (Sept. 2019, BRGM in collaboration with IRD and ISTO) on the development of joint inversion of SNMR and hydrogeological model for the vadose zone to better consider the scale changes and heterogeneity of hydraulic transfers.

iii. Regional project (submission Dec. 2019, BRGM in collaboration with ISTO) on the coupling of geophysical methods and the problematic of multi-scales to improve the hydrogeological monitoring in the vadose zone

iv. ANR project (submission Oct. 2019, METIS in collaboration with ISTO, BRGM, IFPEN) on the solute mass transport throughout the vadose zone at various scales

v. On going talks with University of Lorraine, University of Strasbourg, INRA, IFSTTAR, IMAGEAU, CEMENTYS, etc.

Main questions: • How to take into account the spatial heterogeneity and temporal variability• How to quantify geophysical measurements in terms of hydrogeological properties• How to switch from one scale to another

• What resolution can we expect to attainin the field taking on effects of depth, size and contrast ?

• How to assess the temporal drift andviability of the monitoring devices ?

• How to reconcile all incertitude, geophysical and otherwise, linked to each methods of observation ?

• What tool to use to combine multiple data ?• How to link integrative information from surface measurements to small-scale and punctual

information from devices in the well ?

• How to validate and estimate the limitsof a model or petrophysical relationshipestablish in the lab but used in fieldconditions ?

• What theoritical model to use in thecontext of a partially saturated zone andkarstified limestone ?
