The Worrier“I fear the unknown.”

The Drunk Monkey“I run your life.”

The Judge“I know what is right and wrong.”

The Superhero“I’ll save the day!”

The Drunk Monkey is that nonstop talking, every present commentary in

your head that is second guessing, over thinking and stopping you from

being productive. It’s constant need to think, review, consider, evaluate

and comment blocks your ability to take effective action and achieve

your sales goals. The Drunk Monkey is the underlying cause of the worry,

stress and frustration in your real estate business.

The Superhero thinks it is beer than others. It will try to save the the deal,

save the other agents, or save the clients. It is running at high speed

saving the day but not doing what will make YOU money. It saves

everyone else who didn’t asked to be saved and kills off your earning

potential in the process.

When The Drunk Monkey is playing the Role of The Judge it believes that it

knows what is right and wrong. It incorrectly assumes it knows what is

best for all people in all situations, at all times. If another agent does not

follow its protocol, the Judge points out what’s wrong to prove its authority.

If the client makes a decision that contradicts its opinion, the judge is

annoyed and will argue to make sure it’s right.

The Worrier fears the unknown. It is trying to protect you from all of the

bad things that do not exist in your real estate business. It frets that your

closings will fall apart. The Worrier looks for what is wrong with every

deal. It visualizes negative scenarios over and over, creating unwarranted

sleepless nights, exhaustion, and anxiety.

The Bully“I beat you up.”

The Psychic“I can predict the future.”

The Analyzer“I’ll figure this out.”

The Protector“I’ll keep you safe.”

The Analyzer over thinks everything. It spends endless time trying to

decide if something is right or wrong. It is paralyzed by its need to “think it

through.” Rather than prospect, The Analyzer does research. Rather

than strike while the iron is hot with a lead, it over thinks things and misses

the opportunity. And then it spends time trying to figure out why.

The Psychic believes that it can predict the future. It is arrogant and thinks

that the world “should be” a certain way. The Psychic predicts how things

will play out in a transaction, which stops you from dealing with what is

actually happening. It believes it can predict how people are going to

behave and gets upset when things don’t go its way.

The Protector identifies potential threats to either avoid or fight against. It

assumes that everything could be dangerous and spends its time scouting

for problems. It is skeptical of clients, agents, mortgage brokers and

anyone else who could affect your deals. It keeps you on high alert, for

unknown problems that it is sure are coming. It never allows you

to be fully relaxed.

The Bully uses its power, opinions and judgements against you. With The

Bully there is no escape from the ongoing verbal assault in your head. It

tells you that you are not smart enough, not good looking enough, and

you that you will never achieve your sales goals. The Bully says you are

not cut out for real estate and insists that you will fail.

The Assassin“I kill whatever is scary.”

The Enlightened“I am all knowing.”

The Distractor“I shift your aention to

the unimportant.”

The Victim“I can not escape my circumstances.”

The Assassin drives you to go on the aack. It fantasizes about geing revenge on buyers who bought with another agent. The Assassin kicks in when another agent tries to win a negotiation or when your client accuses you of something. It is designed to aack and eliminate danger. To The Assassin, even doing the things that make you money are seen as a threat.

The Enlightened is the self appointed spiritually elite. From its lofty perch, it holds people accountable to a code of ethics, morals and values that no one actually agreed to. And, then decides who is worth helping, who is good, and who is bad. It is convinced that other people just don’t get it.

The Distractor pulls your aention away from the things that make you money as a Realtor. No maer what you want to work on, The Distractor finds a way to shift your focus to thoughts, ideas and actions that aren’t productive or profitable. The Distractor loves emergencies, unexpected social calls and web surfing - anything to avoid activities that make you money!

The Victim is convinced you are powerless. It sees a dangerous world filled with people who will take advantage of you. The Victim tells you to give in when the seller asks you to cut your commission or a buyer wants to make a lowball offer. It steals your power by making you believe that you have no control over your business, your clients or your life.
