Invocation L In the Name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. C Amen.

Confession and Absolution L If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. C But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and

cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Please remain standing L Let us then confess our sins to God our Father. C Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We

have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your holy name. Amen.

P Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit.

C Amen.

Service of the Word

Salutation and Prayer of the Day

L The Lord be with you.

C And also with you. L Let us pray. L Holy Spirit, You create faith in our hearts and breathe life into our souls. Speak to us

today that we might believe in the saving grace given to us by the Father through Jesus Christ His Son our Lord who lives and reigns with You one God now and forever.

C Amen. Please be seated Elementary Students “My Lighthouse” Children’s Message Mixer You may go choose a partner in the room or remain seated Tell a story about a time when you were rewarded for doing a good deed. Please be seated First Reading—Deuteronomy 9:1-6 Hear, Israel: You are now about to cross the Jordan to go in and dispossess nations greater and stronger than you, with large cities that have walls up to the sky.

2 The people are strong and tall—Anakites! You know about them and have

heard it said: “Who can stand up against the Anakites?” 3 But be assured today that

the Lord your God is the one who goes across ahead of you like a devouring fire. He will destroy them; he will subdue them before you. And you will drive them out and annihilate them quickly, as the Lord has promised you.

4 After the Lord your God has driven them out

before you, do not say to yourself, “The Lord has brought me here to take possession of this land because of my righteousness.” No, it is on account of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is going to drive them out before you.

5 It is not because of your

righteousness or your integrity that you are going in to take possession of their land; but on account of the wickedness of these nations, the Lord your God will drive them out before you, to accomplish what he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

6 Understand, then, that it is not because of your righteousness that the Lord your God

is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stiff-necked people. R This is the Word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God.

Second Reading— Ephesians 2:1-10 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,

2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler

of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of

us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its

desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of

his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we

were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up

with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in

the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and

this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can

boast. 10

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

R This is the Word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God.

L The Holy Gospel according to St. John, the 9th chapter, verses 1-7 C Glory to You, O Lord.

As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who

sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 “Neither this man nor his parents

sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.

4 As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when

no one can work. 5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

6 After saying this, he

spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. 7

“Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.

L This is the Gospel of the Lord. C Praise to You, O Christ. Song of the Day This I Believe (The Creed) Verse 1 Our Father everlasting, the all creating One, God Almighty Through Your Holy Spirit conceiving Christ the Son, Jesus our Savior

Chorus 1 I believe in God our Father, I believe in Christ the Son I believe in the Holy Spirit, our God is three in one I believe in the resurrection, That we will rise again For I believe in the Name of Jesus

Verse 2 Our judge and our defender, suffered and crucified, Forgiveness is in You Descended into darkness, You rose in glorious life, forever seated high (Chorus 1) Bridge I believe in You, I believe You rose again, I believe that Jesus Christ is Lord (2x’s) (Chorus 1)

Chorus 2 I believe in life eternal, I believe in the virgin birth I believe in the saints communion and in Your Holy birth I believe in the resurrection, when Jesus comes again For I believe in the name of Jesus (Chorus 1)

Agnus Dei

Distribution and Hymns Please be seated

General Distribution: We invite you to come up to the altar for communion. Special Distribution: Those that are unable to use the stairs to commune at the altar, please stay seated until a communion assistant team comes to the bottom of the stairs. An usher will guide you to walk up and receive communion. For those who cannot walk to the front, communion assistants will commune you at your seat.

Holy Communion is a gift from God. It is the Lord’s Table to which He invites us. As we prepare to receive the Sacrament, we might ask ourselves the following questions: Do I realize that I am a sinful human being? Do I understand that our Lord gave His life, His body and blood, for me on the cross that I might be forgiven of my sins and in His resurrection raised me to a new life? Do I realize that in the Lord’s Supper He gives me His true body and blood that I might be assured of forgiveness and that my faith is strengthened that I might serve my Lord and through Him serve others? If you are a baptized Christian and share these Biblical truths, please join us in the celebration of the Sacrament. If you have not yet received instruction, please come forward for a blessing, crossing your arms over your chest to indicate you are not receiving the elements.

Distribution Songs Breathe

Verse1 This is the air I breathe, This is the air I breathe Your Holy presence living in me This is my daily bread, This is my daily bread Your very Word spoken to me

Chorus And I, I’m desperate for You. And I, I’m lost without You.

By Grace I'm Saved

5 By grace to timid hearts that tremble, In tribulation’s furnace tried, By grace, in spite of fear and trouble, The Father’s heart is open wide. Where could I help and strength secure, If grace were not my anchor sure?

6 By grace! On this I’ll rest when dying; In Jesus’ promise I rejoice; For though I know my heart’s condition, I also know my Savior’s voice. My heart is glad, all grief has flown, Since I am saved by grace alone. Public domain

Closing Song “One Thing Remains” Higher than the mountains that I face, Stronger than the power of the grave

Constant through the trial and the change One thing remains, This one thing remains

Your love never fails, and never gives up, It never runs out on me Your love never fails, and never gives up, It never runs out on me Your love never fails, and never gives up, It never runs out on me

Because on and on and on and on it goes, Before it overwhelms and satisfies my soul

And I never, ever, have to be afraid One thing remains, This one thing remains

Your love never fails, and never gives up, It never runs out on me Your love never fails, and never gives up, It never runs out on me Your love never fails, and never gives up, It never runs out on me

Your love

In death, and in life, I'm confident and covered by the power of your great love

My debt is paid, there's nothing that can separate, My heart from Your great love

Your love never fails, and never gives up, It never runs out on me Your love never fails, and never gives up, It never runs out on me

Your love never fails, and never gives up, It never runs out on me, it never fails P Go in peace and serve the Lord. C Thanks be to God.
