Dr. Harsh Vyas

Dr. Harsh Vyas completed his Masters in Pediatric Dentistry from Nair HospitalDental College, Mumbai in 1992. He then started his private practice in South Bombay that is dedicated exclusively to children. Dr. Harsh is also a Consultant Pediatric Dentist at the prestigious Bombay Hospital & Medical Research Center and at Saifee Hospital, Mumbai.

He is a highly sought after speaker at various conferences for his clinically relevant lectures which are very informative wherein he shares his expertise and discusses his own clinical cases.

He has lectured and conducted workshops all over the country and abroad, at the University of Maryland Baltimore, Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus USA, to name a few, on various topics of Pedodontics.

For many years he has been a "key opinion leader" for GC-Japan, Ultradent - USA, and recently with Nu Smile -USA, for their zirconia crowns.

While Dr.Harsh Vyas has been part of the teaching faculty, his approach and enthusiasm ensures that he continues to remain a student of the speciality of Pediatric Dentistry.

Stainless steel crowns have been widely used by pediatric dentists and few general dentists to restore extensively

damaged primary teeth. Current evidence reveals that these preformed metal crowns have remained as the most

durable restorations on primary teeth compared with any other restorative materials. Though they are the most tried

and tested, the poor esthetics have often been questioned by the discerning “new generation parents” visiting our

practices.

With the improvement in bonded dentistry in the last decade, composite 'strip crowns' have provided good esthetics

for primary anterior teeth. However, like all resins restorations, discoloration and marginal deterioration is

commonly seen over time.

Use of Zirconia in dentistry has seen a marked improvement in esthetics with the introduction of metal free or full

Zirconia crowns. Pediatric dentistry too has added this new esthetic option to its armamentarium with the

development of the prefabricated ZR crowns for both anterior and posterior teeth.

This one day program discusses the advantages and disadvantages of Zirconia crowns and details the technique

required to place these crowns on primary teeth.

The above highly clinical lecture will be followed by a Hands on Workshop on NuSmile Zirconia crowns.
