Abstract The production trends by new generation rice farmers have changed the model of rice farming in many ways, e.g. the use of hybrid rice varieties, the acceleration of rice growing to meet market demand, and the negligence of community culture in rice production. They see rice is just economic plant which can earn themselves and the country money. They also give the importance to modern technological hardware that can facilitate their daily life, helps farmers do their work more conveniently and more quickly. However, these have caused community culture and related traditions in rice production, which have been held since an old time, to fade away from Thai society due to there is nobody to continue these old traditions in rice production. People have forgotten that the old-time community culture in rice production helps make the rice production to be sustainable because it contains care for people, rice, and community which are connected with the production. The agriculturally related problems faced by people nowadays, whether they are because of the low price of the production, being indebted by high-cost production, not being close in relationship with people in the community due to the lack of connection chain, and other problems related to people both directly and indirectly will be reduced or changed if there is cooperation from every concerned section in realizing and restoring community culture to change to sustainable rice farming. Therefore, the research team have carried out the research on the restoration of community culture for organic rice production by rice farmers, case study: Rai-oi sub district, Pichai district, Uttaradit province. It is to study community cultural information, problems, effects, including methods of restoring community culture for organic rice production by rice farmers, case study: Rai-oi sub district, Pichai district, Uttaradit province. The study is the research and development using participatory action research technique. The data have been analyzed by content analysis. The result retrieved is the acknowledgement of community cultural information which is divided into 2 parts: the subsistence rice culture era and the commercial economic rice era. The division was made by considering the fraction of rice cultural state, the information about situational problem and effects on community culture, and the community participatory research process. These have brought the beginning of the restoration of community culture in organic rice farming by farmers. Besides, during the research process there arose new researchers including students, villagers, Buddhist monks, and local government officials. Moreover, the multilateral connection among Uttaradit Rajabhat University researchers has been built to cooperatively develop the restoration method by means of researching.
