1960: Christians mostly avoid the creation-evolution issue by employing the Day-Age interpretation, or the Gap interpretation. Very few creationists with academic credentials. Poor organisation. Very few books.

2000: Thousands of creationists with academic credentials. Organised creation science societies around the world. Numerous books, websites, media.
