Induction cooking:Heat is generated using magnetic energy. Beneath the smooth, clean ceramic cooktop, heat induction coils produce a high-frequencyalternating current. When cookware made from magnetic-basedmaterials is placed on top, the molecules in the vessel begin to moveso rapidly that the pan not the cooktop becomes hot. Removing thepan gives rapid cooling. The benefits are better heat control, safety,energy efficiency and the smooth surface is extremely easy to clean.

HOW IT WORKSInduction cooking uses the transferof magnetic energy to generate heat.

Induction coils sit underneath theeasy-clean ceran surface, creatingmagnetic fields that induce heat.When an iron or magnetic pan isplaced on the cooktop, electricitypasses through coils beneath theglass surface to produce amagnetic field that heats the pandirectly. While the food in thesaucepan heats up, the cooktop’ssurface doesn’t.

This is a great safety feature asthere is no risk of burns. Thecooking zone surface cools downvery quickly after cooking.

Due to the use of a uniformmagnetic field there is better heatdistribution which improvescooking results and preserves your cookware.

SPEED AND POWERIt’s the fastest, most economicaltype of heating, taking about halfthe time of conventional electriccooktops to boil water. (see chart below).

ENERGY EFFICIENTInduction cooktops are moreenergy efficient than conventionalelectric cooktops saving youalmost 45% energy and they useabout half the energy of gas.

Being faster means saving energy and of course, saving money onyour electricity bill.

EASE OF MAINTENANCECleaning is easy- with acontinuous surface and touchsensitive controls, there are noknobs to clean around. Thesurface of the hob does not heatup, so overflows do not cook orstick to the surface, a wipe of thesponge is all it takes to clean yourcooktop and keep it looking great.

Ducting into the roof

Rangehoods should be ducted in one of two ways:1. Ducted to the atmosphere (outside)2. Recirculated

We recommend ducting to the atmosphere to ensure optimumperformance. Recirculating the air back into the room should onlybe used when outside extraction is not possible.

To ensure maximum performance when ducting it is important the ducting that carries the fumes away, be as short and asstraight as possible.

When incorporating a rangehood in thedesign of a kitchen the following pointsneed to be considered to achieve themost benefit from the rangehood.1. Ducting from a rangehood carrying the exhaust air, should

not exceed a length of three (3) metres.

2. For ducted installation we recommend using galvanised or similar metal type flue pipe. PVC pipe is not recommended.

3. Ducting containing a 90˚ degree bend will encounter a loss in efficiency of approximately 30%. Additional 90˚ degree bends can cause losses of up to 5% per bend.

4. Ducting size should always comply with the manufacturersspecification and council regulations.

5. We recommend Carbon filters be used when recirculating the air into the room. There will be some loss of air movement.
