In a time in which urbanorganisation can represent control, and the prioritisation o moneyand agenda over community andcreativity, the spaces and places

we choose to practice, present and perpetuate art and communitybecome vital.

In a move to try and reach newaudiences, involve diverse andmarginal communities, and topromote a less city-centric approachto the enjoyment o quality Arts &Culture, we have moved our estivalto Easton, one o the most ethnicallydiverse and creatively vibrant communities in the South West.

Through a city-wide collaboration o individuals, organisations, creativebods and volunteers we aim to

create a vital artistic, dynamic andcommunity-led space, reed romthe constraints o more established

venues, and o ering a uniqueaudience experience: a world into

which the viewers invest as soon asthey enter the venue, and not just at the moment the lights go down.

Community members are invited toauthor this space and contribute tothe world being created within. Asa blank canvas, the estival venueand the events within it are waiting

or you to make you mark. Free o assumptions, the months activity and the two weeks creation timethat precede it will represent an organic chain o contribution, reaction and response. At theend o the estival the world willdisintegrate until next year!

Mivart St Studios occupy a ormer Victorian actory squeezed into aresidential street o St. Marks Road in Easton. The large, red brick buildinghas housed various industries over the last hundred years including aircra t construction and clothing manu acture. Today it is home to an eclectic mix o artists, makers, designers, per ormers, musicians, urniture makers and smallbusinesses, some o whom will be contributing to, and exhibiting as part o ,The Compass o Mystery Festival.
