Appendix 1: Duration to See Expected Results

Below are the average time taken to see the desired results. It may vary depending on individual skin types, frequency of application and the healing crises period. This is how our products should be tested:

Healing Crisis:

When your skin is still adjusting itself to a new product, there is a lot of activity going on within the first 3 weeks. Therefore you should allow your skin to adjust itself back to normal. In a nutrient rich formula like ours, it is expected that you have to go through a period of healing crisis (skin adjustment). Within the first 2 weeks (at least), your skin will undergo purging whereby the toxins are expelled, some additional breakout may occur and this is normal.

If there is any healing crisis, you should continue to use the product until the healing crisis is over (4-6 weeks).

1. Cause of Acne

Pimples, whiteheads, blackheads and cysts are all different forms of acne.

2. Is there any cure for acne?

No, but sufferers can grow out of it.

3. What can aggravate acne attack?

Lifestyle habits which can trigger more acne outbreaks: Stress, cheese, milk or any other type of dairy products, food high in preservatives, excessive consumption of deep fried foods, spicy foods, etc. One man's meat is another man's poison.

Hormonal fluctuations, genetics and age can also be a contributing factor, the older you are, the longer it takes to recover because your body's self-healing capability is reduced.

Please refrain from aggravating your skin by touching, pricking, or squeezing the affected area throughout the day. Allow our products to do what it does best.

6. How to tell if your skin is Purging or Breaking Out?

Sometimes when you try a new skincare product, your skin will experience additional breakouts because the product is working and it has to get worse before it gets better. That is called purging.

Some do not experience it, but for others it may range from mild to full purging.

A purge happens when a skincare product causes pimple formation to speed up. Products that increase skin turnover quickly speeds up the whole pimple cycle (rapid skin renewal), this is called purging. Any baby pimples already in your skin will grow up faster and you will see a sudden breakout. However, products that increase skin turnover also helps prevent new pimples from forming. Once this phase is over, your skin will settle down and will look clearer than before.

If your skin is purging, that means that the product is working like it was meant to and has started to clear your pores. Purging gets it all to the surface so that it can be treated. It is going to get you to the type of skin that you want inevitably. In the end what you want is clearer skin.

Purging: If your skin breaks out more than normal, but in the usual places and is progressively getting better; your skin is purging.

During this time, the powerful microcirculation promoter is creating mini tornadoes beneath the skin to flush out the accumulated toxins. It is doing a cleansing work. Do not use acidic products to treat your pimples and acne. The acid only kills off the bacteria and provides temporary relief. It may cause more problems later on and acid is bad for your skin. 10. What to do if my acne skin is feeling itchy?

Managing acne itchAcne can cause your skin to itch. Itchiness is part of the healing experience. It is a sign indicating your acne is getting better. When a scab forms on your open wound during the healing process the area around your scab can itch. Using your fingers to touch that area to ease the itch may lead to infection.

How to tackle itchiness in those acne hotspots?Apply a small amount of EOS Acne Advanced Serum on your little finger (it has the least surface area). EOS Acne Advanced Serum is a powerful anti-bacterial serum. Then gently scratch around the hotspot. (Never touch the acne wound or it may aggravate the problem (spreading more bacteria) and lead to more outbreaks).

Do not touch your face with your fingers at all time. If you have to, ALWAYS apply some EOS Acne Advanced Serum to sanitize your fingers first to kill all the bacteria before doing so. If you do not have the serum with you, use a tissue.

11. How long before I can see results?

Time to see results may vary depending on individual skin types and frequency of application. Below are the average times.

There are no hard and fast rules. There are some people who grow out of it after a certain age. You will just have to wait for that time.

Appendix 3: Acne Types in Order of Severity

1. Blackheads (Open Comedones)Blackheads occur when a pore is clogged by a combination of sebum and dead skin cells. The top of the pore stays open, despite the rest of it being clogged. This results in the characteristic black color seen on the surface.

2. Whiteheads (Closed Comedones)Whiteheads can also form when a pore gets clogged by sebum and dead skin cells. But unlike with blackheads, the top of the pore closes up. It looks like a small bump protruding from the skin.

3. PapulesPapules occur when the walls surrounding your pores break down from severe inflammation. This results in hard, clogged pores that are tender to the touch. The skin around these pores is usually pink.

4. PustulesPustules can also form when the walls around your pores break down. Unlike papules, pustules are filled with pus. These bumps come out from the skin and are usually red in colour. They often have yellow or white heads on top.

5. NodulesNodules occur when clogged, swollen pores endure further irritation and grow larger. Unlike pustules and papules, nodules are deeper underneath the skin. Because nodules are so deep within the skin, you can’t typically treat them at home. Prescription medication is necessary to help clear these up. All these drugs have side-effects like depression for example.

6. CystsCysts can develop when pores are clogged by a combination of bacteria, sebum, and dead skin cells. The clogs occur deep within the skin and are further below the surface than nodules. These large red or white bumps are often painful to the touch. Cysts are the largest form of acne, and their formation usually results from a severe infection. This type of acne is also the most likely to scar.
