ust as the 0uture Buddha Metteyya be/ame more important 0or Buddhists as the /enturies .ent bymany o0 the te?ts giving in0omation about him are 0airly late! The  Anāgatavaṃsa is said to have been.ritten by the author o0 the Mohavicchedanī  Ashin Kassapa 311='%12;' A*4! 1' "t is very di00i/ult to 8no.ho. 0ar ba/8 in0ormation goes .hen it is given in the +Di /ommentaries sub@/ommentaries /hroni/lesand other te?ts .ritten do.n a0ter the /anon! -e have given all the in0ormation available to us that is parto0 the Therav+da tradition but .e must be /are0ul to remember that te?ts su/h as the!asa'odhisattu((attikathā  3The Birth "tories of the Ten Bodhisattas4 the !asa'odhisatta-uddesa the!asavatthu((akara+a and the "īha3avatthu((akara+a  seem to /ontain in0ormation that .as added at arelatively late date! Sayagyi U Ba Khin repeated the Burmese tradition that those .ho live in a//ordan/e .ith theseTea/hings .ill meet Buddha Ariya Metteyya! "t is even believed that the /oming BuddhaPs po.er .ill besu/h that he .ill be able to rea/h people .ho have lived up to the Tea/hings in this li0e but .ho havedone deeds in the past .hi/h lead to their being born in lo.er realms be0ore he /omes! But the gi0t o0 the *hamma /an only be given .hile the Tea/hings o0 a Buddha are availableand by laying emphasis on this Guotation o0 the BuddhaPs Sayagyi reminded us that .e must never
