RACE DAY SCHEDULE OF EVENTS We are lucky enough to have this years event take place at the awesome Aviator Sports Complex in Brooklyn. Please take a look at the map below to see where the race headquarters is roughly located ***HINT HINT, it is near the START/FINISH bubbles*** PLEASE ARRIVE AT THE FESTIVAL/START CHUTE NO EARLIER THAN 6:00AM ON SATURDAY MORNING!!! This should provide plenty of time for you to mingle, take ‘before’ pictures, use the portable facilities, and hydrate before the race starts at 8:00AM. Here is the race day timeline for both August 25th AND 26th races: 6:00AM - Race village opens for Color Runners . (You are like a kid on Christmas!) 7:30AM - Color Runners start to line up in the “Glorious Start Chute of Destiny” 8:00AM – The Color Run New York Start Window - YAY!! 8:30AM-10:45AM - Finish Festival at the Festival Area - MAKE SURE YOU SAVE YOUR COLOR PACKET FOR THE FINISH FESTIVAL!!! Mass throws will take place approximately every 15-20 minutes as runners make their way to the festival area. 11:00AM - The Color Run New York complete, magical Unicorn Pegasus returns from ‘The Most Exciting City in the World’ to her home in Valhalla and Color Run Family members return to their (now even more) colorful places of residence - BUT feel free to hang out and help us clean. ;) This is a map of the course for the run at Aviator Sports, study it, learn it, love it.... delicious.

***SIDE NOTE IN REGARDS TO WATER, AGUA, WASSER, etc. at both the festival and the water/aid station (shown in blue on the map above)... We use these REALLY awesome water dispensers for the New York race from a company called Event Water Solutions. Basically here is the deal... it’s a water dispenser system that filters hydrant fed water into whatever you would like to dispense it. We will provide cups, but if you are looking for something more than just a couple of gulps FEEL FREE to bring a water bottle/camelback/bathtub/gallon jug and fill it at the festival or at the water station on course and drink to your hearts content! Don’t say we didn’t provide enough water... because at this race, it’s all you can drink baby!! Just so you know the stations look like this...

There will be 4 of them at the finish and 2 of them at the water/aid station. PLUS the water is filtered and chilled just for you!! DRINK UP!!!! STAY HYDRATED!!! RACE MORNING Arrive early. Allow plenty of time to get to the park & get prepped for start time. Make sure you have your race bib and wristband! They are your ticket into the run. You HAVE to have them in order to be on the course….. and we cannot give you another one if you leave them at home! So tape them to your forehead, roll them up in your running shoes, or pin them to your running shirt as soon as you get it! Oh and don‘t forget to wear white - it’s more fun, we promise!

Weather We will do EVERYTHING in our power to hold The Color Run event as scheduled... however excessive wind or rain may cause us to modify or cancel the event. Runner safety is our highest priority. Stay tuned to your email and the New York Color Run webpage all race week for updates from us regarding any race related news and weather conditions.

Starting Line The start window is from 8:00AM - 8:30AM. Color Runners will gather at the starting line in waves of approximately 1,000 people. The announcer will begin calling runners to the start line about 30 minutes before the start time, with waves leaving about 5 minutes apart. The first wave will leave at 8:00AM. Once in your wave, gather according to running speed. Rabbits at the front and turtles at the back. If possible, try to have runners stay to the left and walkers stay to the right….just like on the freeway! Remember the event is not timed so there is no reason to go CRAZY jockeying for position. Take your time and enjoy The Color Run experience with your friends and family. Please make sure your bib number is attached and visible on the front of your shirt. This is how you will be identified as a Color Runner at the finish line and allowed past security at the start. Teams may run in a group or separately, it is completely up to your discretion.

RACE DAY TRAVELING DIRECTIONS/TRANSPORTATION TIME TO CARPOOL & DRIVE GREEN!!! In order to reduce traffic and the number of cars near the race site and zoo, please carpool with as many people as possible. Time to bust out those minivans & SUVs and fill them with Color Runners! Remember these are your fellow Color Runners (just like you)... they are out to have a great experience with their friends and family. Plan your schedule accordingly and be patient. The Color Run will do everything possible to help things run smooth, but some traffic congestion is inevitable. A relaxed, understanding attitude can help make everything run even more smooth and safe. Additionally, please be on the watch for pedestrians, especially children. The Color Run is a popular event for families who will be returning to their cars as motorists are trying to exit the venue. Drive carefully and be alert.*

PARKING You have received this email which means you are registered to run the “Happiest 5K on the Planet” in New York. HOORAY!!! Parking for Aviator Sports is easy if you follow the directions (if traveling by car) in the “Race Day Traveling Directions/Transportation” section. Once you arrive at the venue, there will be a parking control company helping us/you to maximize the space we have to park all of our FANTAST-A-RIFFIC Color Runners! Again, PLEASE be courteous and patient as people get parked and find their way to the race site. We aren’t going to leave anyone behind, every Color Runner is important to us! (This is even more incentive to drive GREEN and carpool as much as possible - again reference ZIMRIDE option above.) Here are some things you should know: • It is very important that our Color Runners obey all traffic laws and avoid parking where posted

signage does not expressly allow. • It is also important that Color Runners avoid parking along The Color Run Course. Otherwise, you

might have a more Colorful car after the race than before!! :) • Public transportation will be running the regular weekend routes so taking the subway and/or

parking a few miles away then transferring/taking the bus in is also an option. IN SUMMARY... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be patient with the parking situation on race morning :-)

COLOR ZONES Each kilometer of the event is associated with a designated color. As with any substance, you want to keep it out of your eyes. Our “certified” color throwers try to aim low as you pass by but it isn’t always easy to control. Many “Color Runners” opt to wear glasses or goggles for their eyes and use a bandana or dust mask for their mouths. As shown below, the middle lane is the “low color lane,” which offers a “lighter” color experience. Please do not stop in the Color Zones, this will create a bottleneck and problems for runners behind you. In summary: We work pretty hard to make it so our precious “Color Runners” get as much or as little color on them as they like.

Color run race village We have just a few rules to ensure that everyone has a FANTASTIC Color Run experience. -No alcohol is allowed at The Color Run. -If you are running with a stroller, please start at the back of the pack. -Be courteous to and aware of other Color Runners. -If you are running with small children, please watch and direct them through the race. -If you are concerned at all with any part of the Color experience, feel free to wear safety glasses, a bandana, or a dust mask. -Please follow the directions provided by race officials and volunteers. -Above all, please be courteous and respectful to everyone around you.

The Color Run Store The Color Run Store will be set up at the festival along with other groovy local and national businesses. Hang around and check them out. If you have used or forgotten your personal color pack (that you’ll get at packet pick up) or would like to purchase additional color, we will have a limited quantity for sale at the festival. First come…first serve! Cash or Credit please.

cleaning up We are sorry, there will be no “color excuses” keeping you from going to school or work the next week You’ll want your memories of The Color Run to stay with you forever, but if you want the color to wash out of your hair and skin ASAP, here are a few tips... BEFORE The Color Run • Oiling your hair well on race morning will make it easier to wash out the color later. Coconut oil or olive oil work best. A good leave in conditioner will do the trick as well. This is a particularly useful tip for runners with light colored or highlighted hair. • Many runners wear a thick scarf or bandana to cover their hair. Others use the bandana to cover their mouth as they run through the color zones or to help wash off after. However you choose to use it, a bandana or scarf is pretty useful at The Color Run. • Wear a good sunscreen and lip balm. • We suggest some form of Color Run eyewear. Some people wear sunglasses or swim goggles. Have some fun with it and try to avoid getting a lot of powder in your eyes. • Though the color will eventually wash out of just about everything, but you may not want to bring your brand new BOB Stroller... Or your $500 running shoes... Or your white suede pants. AFTER The Color Run • You just ran the craziest 5k of your life! Congratulations. You deserve a nap. But not quite yet. Take a few minutes to clean up or color might end up all over your house! • Dust off as much dry powder as you can before you apply any water. Take advantage of our “Color Blower Station” at the post race festival for some help. Most of the color will evaporate like magical fairy dust. • Cleaning your hair: Dust any loose powder out of your hair. Rinse out the oil/conditioner you wisely applied before the race with cold water. Most of the color should come right out. Now wash your hair as you normally would. It is not uncommon for hints of some of the color, pink and purple particularly, to stick around for a few washes. Wear it like a badge of honor. Or wear a hat. • The color is probably not coming all the way out of your white cotton shirt. You should be proud of that. But just about everything else should clean up fine. Remove all excess powder before adding water. Wash your Color Run gear separately, with COLD water. Oxiclean, or a similar product, will work wonders on your running equipment. Every so often you may look down a see a little trace of pink on your shoe and smile. It’ll remind you that we love you. Eventually, it’ll all be gone. Until next year of course.....you beautiful Color Runner.

Post race coverage We will be running some fun FACEBOOK and TWITTER campaigns for best photos and best blogs. So keep any eye out, and if you don’t already, like us at
