THE CO. The history of Collingwood proves the areas evolving nature and THE CO. aims to nurture the precinct into its creative future. In designing a studio/work space for themselves, DKO architecture also aspires to bring together other creative businesses and provide community facilities. THE CO. aims to give new energy to the current wearied condition of Down Street and surrounding precinct in Collingwood. Keeping jobs and employment close to the city, the ambition is for THE CO. to become an incubator for design and clever-ness.The urban strategy protects the amenity of the surrounding residential areas, whilst providing an energetic community activity centre and urban ecosystem. The building itself introduces a highly environmentally focused precedent for the area, to instigate a sustainable culture in Collingwood.
