I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and was able to spend some time with your families. In keeping with the spirit of the holiday season I would like to extend a thank you to all the members of the board of directors that you see listed on the left hand side of this page. They have all been hard at work since the start of the Society Year to keep the chapter running smoothly.
The CNY Chapter will be hosting the 2015 Chapter Regional Conference (CRC) and, although it may seem like a long way off, we have already set up a committee and start-ed to prepare. You will find a little more information on the CRC committee later in this newsletter. The CRC committee is chaired by Steve Sill. If you are interested in helping out, please let us know. The more people that get involved the easier this will be for everyone..
On December 12th we will have our annual holiday party at the Double Tree. We will begin with Hors d/oeuvres at 6:00 followed by a sit down dinner at 7:00 featuring your choice of London Broil, Chicken Rockefeller or a Vegetable Stack. This is a social event so there will be no technical program. You are encouraged to bring your spouse or a guest and to enjoy a nice dinner with your colleagues. Registration is available now at www.ashraecny.org. Please register by noon on Friday, December 7 so that we can get an accurate head count to the Double Tree for the dinner. The cost will be $30, the same as our regular monthly meetings. I hope to see you there.

ASHRAE CNY Chapter is Calling for ASHRAE Technology Awards Applications
Effective energy utilization is just one of several aspects of facility and building design. The ASHRAE Technol-ogy Awards program recognizes, on an international scale, successful applications of innovative design, which
incorporate ASHRAE standards for effective energy management, indoor air quality, and good mechanical design.
All current members of ASHRAE and its Associate Societies may submit entries. Entrants must have had a signifi-cant role in the design or development of the project.
The Purpose of the ASHRAE Technology Awards: To recognize ASHRAE members who design and/or conceive innovative technological concepts that are proven through actual operating data. To communicate innovative systems design to other ASHRAE members. To highlight technological achievements of ASHRAE to others, including associated professionals and societies worldwide, as well as building and facility owners.
Applications are accepted in each of the following categories: Commercial Buildings (New and Existing) Institutional Buildings (New and Existing) Educational Facilities Other Institutional Health Care Facilities (New and Existing) Industrial Facilities or Processes (New and Existing) Public Assembly Facilities (New and Existing) Residential (New and Existing)
Judging Criteria: Energy Efficiency (15 points) Indoor Air Quality and Thermal Comfort (15 points) Innovation (15 points) Operation and Maintenance (15 points) Cost Effectiveness (15 points) Environmental Impact (15 points) Quality of Presentation (5 points) Judges’ Prerogative (5 points)
Benefits of Winning a Society Award:ASHRAE Technology Award winners are recognized by peers as being innovative and capable of achieving a high level of competence. Winning projects are highlighted in articles in the ASHRAE Journal. The Society provides press releases to industry publications and ASHRAE Insights.
Recipients are honored at the Plenary Session of the Society’s Winter Meeting where the first-place awards as well as the "Engineering Award of Excellence" are presented. One award plaque will be presented to an entrant repre-senting the design team and another plaque will be presented to the building owner. The winning design firm may purchase additional plaques.
