Details: Mentees will focus primarily on government and why a person graduating high school should care about what happens, from their district’s school board to the Congress of the United States. Mentees will explore the inner-workings of the state legislature and the U.S. Congress and learn how legislation impacts them and their everyday lives. Mentees will discover how their future careers will interact with the government and how policy affects the industries they hope to join post high school and college.
*Attendance is required for the Civic Engagement TMP Scholarship. **Mentors and Board of Directors are welcome.

There are documents you will add to your portfolio in the 2nd semester, however, the bulk of your portfolio must be complete by 31 Dec 2019.

Details: Mentees will focus on advocacy and how one becomes an advocate. Mentees will identify issues that matter most to them and discover how they can become advocates for themselves and their communities. Mentees will discover how advocacy has evolved in El Paso and around the nation and how advocacy has shaped legislation and policy. Building Civic Engagement 1, this course will continue exploring the interaction between Mentees’ futures and their governments.
