Youth power witnessed ten teams committed to a social cause, undertaking multifarious activities for the same. The proud winners of this most coveted award were AIS, Sector 46, Gurgaon. Team AIS 46, worked for the cause of arresting Drop Out ratios in the schools and bringing these underprivileged children back to school under the programe UPAS- THITI.. The achievements of the team were presented through sensitive short films, moving speeches and crea- tive presentations that left the audience in awe. The trophy was like a cherry on the cake as the Team AIS, 46 bagged the title of Youth Envoys of 2015-16. YOUTH POWER

NSTSC Continuing their dominance in NSTSC, Amity Sector 46, brought laurels to the School by winning at

National and State Level. A total of 400 students from classes 3- 12 appeared for the ex-am. 20 students qualified for the second level exam held in the month of January. Top scorers Shaurya Sisodia, Suyash Sisodia, Abhimanu Sinha

and Isha Dogra ranked in top 100 at National level whereas

Achintya Gupta and Anushka Kulkarni became the State level

toppers (Haryana and Faridabad). Achievers were awarded with

medals, CD, Certificate of Appreciation by the school Principal,

Mrs. Arti Chopra.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR THE PARENTS OF CLASS V “A parent is a teacher at home and a teacher is a parent in school and the child is the centre of our universe.”

To familiarize the parents, “as partners in progress” with the curriculum, rules and regulations of the school, teaching meth-odologies and the co-scholastic activities, an Orientation Pro-gramme was organized for the parents. School Principal, Ms. Arti Chopra, laid stress on effective communication between the teachers and the parents and also sought their support and suggestions so that the children could be provided the best for their overall development. The pro-gramme was designed to support child in making a smooth transition to the middle school. Academic Coordinators, gave an over-view of the vari-

ous subjects like English, Maths, and Social Science and the co -scholastic activities which gave the parents an as-surance that the curriculum involves self-directed, hands-on learning activities. The programme helped in evolving a common teaching

strategy and helped the parents in identify-ing suita-ble follow up methods to reinforce the learning process of their children. It was followed by a session taken by Ms. Jayanti from Mind Spark who gave a presentation on the advantages of the online maths programme.

ECON AWARD Amity International School, Sector 46, Gurgaon distinguished itself by winning 'ECONS Flagship School' award. The school received accolades from CEE (Confederation of Education Excellence) and ECONS (profit solutions) for best educational practices. The nominated projects were evaluated according to the following criteria: Innovation, Scalabil-ity, Ability to overcome challenges, Achievements and Impact Potential. The award function followed the Econ Summit on Education held at Hotel Crown Plaza, Rohini. Dr. Udit Raj, Ex IRS, member of parliament, Ajay Mishra, Deputy Secretary, CBSE ,Shruti Arora, President CEE, gave away the award. Four schools across India received Flagship School Award and Amity International School, Sector 46, Gurgaon, was one of them. Other schools across NCR and Other parts of the country also received awards in other categories.

Vaishali Tikoo of Amity International School, sector-46, Gurgaon, represented INDIA in the Sustainable Energy Engineer-ing Environment Project Olympiad, held in Houston,Texas,USA from 26th April - 1st May 2016. She bagged the gold medal in The Engineering Category, along with a cash prize of $750. She was also awarded by the Consumer Energy Alliance, special award for Energy Day for her project. The event saw participation of children from over 70 countries.

A mother’s role is foremost in shaping the growth, personality and upbringing of a child. Enliving this vision in mind, Young amitians of class I celebrated MOTHER’S DAY in school premises on 30th of April. They welcomed their mothers by singing a poem and by dancing on medley of songs, followed by fun filled games for the mothers which witnessed an enthusiastic participation. Offering gratitude to their endless love and care, the mothers were crowned with beautiful tiaras by their children while speaking different lines for their mothers. After nibbling their feet with kids on different songs, the mothers shared their best memories of being a mother and the children recited a poem to thank them.

ASTRONOMY DAY Astronomy enthusiasts of AIS 46, Gurgaon celebrated Astronomy Day on April 18, 2016. The students of tspace club put up stalls which provided information about activities like comet cooking, kit display, comparing your weight on the earth to other planets, safe solar observation, hydro rocketry etc. The audience comprising stu-dents were enthralled visiting these stalls. club indulge in interesting activities throughout the year which

include making a comet, safe solar observation , Hydro Rocket-

ry, study of seasons , Time and Direction, the most exciting,

portunity to participate in events like Asteroid search, taking

photographs of places on earth using telescope on ISS, measuring circumference of the earth etc.

CLASS ORIENTATION CLASS IX

An orientation program on CCE (Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation), was held at Amity International School 46, Gurgaon for the students of class IX. The students were made aware about the CCE as prescribed by the CBSE. The School Principal Mrs. Arti Chopra highlighted the activities promoting holistic growth of the Amitians. She also highlighted on how the school empowers the students with 21stcentury learn-ing skills, basic skills 5 E's and how they are liberated through research and development and environment related activities. The academics coordinator class IX-X detailed the students with CCE covering all the components comprising Scholastic (Formative, Summative) and Co- Scholastic aspects. The queries of the par-ents were addressed to their satisfaction.

ORIENTATION PROGRAM FOR CLASS XI

Amity International School, Sec-46, Gurgaon organised an Orientation Program for Parents of Class XI students of the academic session 2016-17 on April 16th, 2016. The agenda of the orientation program was to abreast the parents of the changes in the examination pattern and the school norms and policies. The program included an exhilarating Kathak dance performance that mesmerised the audience School Principal, Ms. Arti Chopra in her address discussed the various streams offered by the school and the placements of the students that have left the portals of Amity. Senior Coordinator (XI- XII) furthered the day’s proceedings by enlightening the audience about various subject-combinations offered at plus two- level in the school. The day culminated with the introduction of the class teachers of Class XI on the stage. Thereafter there was an

open house forum, where the concerns, queries of the parents were addressed. It was indeed an enriching engage-

ment of ideas.

CLASS XII FAREWELL

The faculty and students of Amity International School, Gurugram,

Sector-46 gave a farewell to bid a tearful & promising adieu to the

outgoing class on 28th April 2016. The farewell party was celebrat-

ed with lot of enthusiasm and joy. It was an occasion for the out-

going students to look back at the time that they spent in the School

and the education that they acquired during the period. The pro-

gram commenced spiritually with Lamp Lighting Ceremony fol-

lowed by a welcome song. Thereafter, there was a variety of dance,

music, videos, games and laughter to entertain audience. The col-

orful and entertaining cultural programme enthralled everyone pre-

sent there. After all the fun and frolic, the seniors came one by one

for the Talent Round. They also shared their memorable moments

spent with their classmates, juniors and faculty. On the basis of their personality, they were given different titles by

the judges. Class XII students danced to their heart’s content to the music organized. Many were seen clicking pic-

tures of friends and teachers – trying to capture memories of school forever. It promised to be an exciting day not

only for the ‘guests’ but also for the organizers -class XII (Batch 2016-17).

In the end, School Principal, Mrs. Arti Chopra wished all the best to the outgoing students for success and accom-

plishments in all their future endeavors.

Students of Amity International School, Gurgaon-46 attended the training sessions. session covered physical training, escaping carjacking attempt, knowledge of weapons of opportunity, body language, tackling domestic violence, behav-iour with strangers etc. It was indeed a very enriching experi-ence for the students.

Felicitating the achievers not only serves to motivate them to surpass their own performance but also spurs on their peers to attain similar heights. The School having grown exponentially, the Annual Academic Prize Distribution was held for Juniors (Classes I to IV) on April 12 , 2016 and Seniors (Classes VI to XI) on April 13, 2016.

Amity International School, Sector 46 hosted Mohiniattam Recital by renowned artist, Dr. Deepti Om-

cherry Bhalla, under the aegis of SPIC MACAY on 29th April 2016, in the school premises under the ae-

gis of Spic Macay. Dr. Deepti Omcherry Bhalla holds dexterity in Mohiniattam dance. She began her per-

formance with a prayer of lord Shiva .She addressed the gathering and gave students an insight on classi-

cal dance forms of India and their significance. She also demonstrated different mudras. Students learnt a

lot from her through lec dem methodology and clarified their doubts during interactive session.She was

accompanied by Mr. Vetri Boopathy on Mridangam, Mr. Sreedhar on violin,Mr. Sajivan on edaikka, the

Vocalist Ms. Geeta Rajendran. Her interactive approach kept the students engaged throughout the ses-

sion.

Reading Mahotsava 2016 AIS 46 organized “READING MAHOTSAVA 2016”, from April 25th to 7th May,2016 during the school hours in the school premises. The major highlights of the events were:

Reading Supplementary Books followed by fun filled Activities like- cross word puzzles, character enactment, group discussion etc.
