Foot Binding

Is an old china tradition to stop the woman’s feet growth.

It was committed between the age four and seven.

This habit was ongoing for about a thousand year.

Was initiate in the last of Tang dynasty ( 618 – 907 ) and began spread through upper class of Song dynasty.

The foot binding conducted by bandaging the feet strictly , it wore a bandage ten feet long and two inches wide was wrapped tightly around the foot.

The foot are forced to wear small toes / shoes

Some of Chinese people believe, that legend says that this concubine, Yao Niang, was ordered to bind her feet so that her feet would look like new moons.

No one of Chinese people know exactly how the custom of foot binding began.
