THE CHILDREN OF HURINJ.R.R. TOLKIEN

AUTHOR:

• John Ronald Reuel TOLKIEN was born in 1892 in Africa. He was an English writer, poet, philologist and university professor. He is known as the author of classic high fantasy works The Silmarillion, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. However, there is one more book, THE CHILDREN OF HURIN which comes after the Silmarrillion.

• The Children of Hurin is the most recently published story to take place in Middle-earth. It was started to write in 1918 and it had been revised many times, but it wasn’t published until 2007. More than thirty years of notes were written by J.R.R. Tolkien, but they were compiled and edited by his son, Christopher Tolkien because Tolkien died in 1982.

THE TALE

• Morgoth is a evil god. He was really angry because Hurin didn’t do what Morgoth said. So, Morgoth curse him.

• Hurin is a father . He is really brave, smart and optimistic man. He all care about his children , Turin, Nienor and Urwen and his wife, Morwen. This behaviour is the most important thing for me, and shows me that he is really strong. He lived for one aim. He devoted his live to his family. However, when he went to Morgoth’s land, Morgoth told him “ with my eyes you shall see and with my ears you shall hear, and nothing shall be hidden from you.” Morgoth capture him his dungeon. He couldn’t do anything when something happened to his children.

MORGOTH

• Turin is brave like his father. But she is really stubborn. He did always what he thought. Because of this, trouble found him always. Turin was in different locales. He got through so many incidents. He met up with elves, varying sorts of humans, dwarves and a dragon sent by Morgoth. However, nothing could stop him to find his mother and his sister. This make me feel close to Turin. This shows me that his family was really important for him.

They all were seperated from each other

• Nienor and Morwen went to Thingon where Turin should be. Because they couldn’t find him, they left there and went to find him, too.

• This make me so excited because Turin and his mother were trying to find each other. I wondered how they could find and I hoped that they wouldn’t be hurt by evil Orcs or dragons.

•Turin found a girl, Nienor. They didn’t know each other. They become to fall in love. They even got married.

•However, this happiness at last came to an end because Glaurung and Turin fought and Turin kill dragon,. However at last it attacked him with last force. When it was dying, he told Nienor that they were siblings. This made her so sad that he jumped off a cliff. This part was really affect me.

•

• Turin found out that Nienor was deadi and she was his sister. This make me confused what happened next. If I were him, I couldn’t stop to suicided myself,too because of anger.

• Then, he begged his sword to kill him. He did that and This was the end of his life.

•Hurin couldn’t protect his family. All members were killed and MORGOTH’S CURSE CAME TRUE
