INV ITATION TO TENDER

Tenders are invited for the conveyance of m ails by m otor transport six tim es weekly in each direction, between Kaduna and Jos and such other interm ediate places on the route as m ay be nom inated by the M m istry for a period of two years from 13lh February, 1969 w ith the option of extending for a further period of one year.

2. The m ails are required to be conveyed on such days and at such tim es as m ay be appointed in w riting from tim e to tim e by the M inistry.

3. The average volum e and weight of m ails to be conveyed bri each journey is at present:—

(а ) Outward:Kaduna-Jos 15 bags 675 lbs. *

(б ) Inward :Jos-Kadim a 10 bags 450 lbs.

_ 4. Tenders should be enclosed in sealed envelopesm arked “ Confidential— ^Tender for M ails” and forwarded-byregistered post to the Postal Controller, M inistry of Com m unications, Posts and Telecomm unications D ivision, Kaduna to reach him not later than 13 th Decem ber, 1968.

5. The M inistry does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

6. The Contractor w ill be required to accept the conditions concerning the paym ent of “ Fair W ages” as set out in the Appendix to Governm ent C ircular No. 57/1946 dated 30th August, 1946. A copy of the Appendix m ay be seen on application to the Head Postm asters, Kadim a and Jos.

9. The Board is not bound to accept the lowestor any tender.

THE EXPLOSIVES ACT OF 1964 AND THE EXPLOSIVES REGULATIONS 1967

All users of Low Explosives (that is to say, Gimpowder, Trade Powder, Fire-worlffl, Rockets, Percussion Caps, and any other substance which the Inspector-General of Police may by notice in the Gazette declare to be Low E^losives) should note that by reason of the Explosives ̂Regulations 1967, published as Legal Notice No. 38 of 1967, the control including importation of the Explosives referred to has, with effectfrom 1st. January, 1967, been vested in the Inspector-General of Police who hereby designates all Provincial Police Officers as Licensing Officers.

2. All Licences purported to be issued under the said Regulations, on or after that date, by authorities other than Licensing Officers authorised by the Inspector-General of Police are invalid. All such invalid licences should now be renewed with competent authorities without payment of additional fees,

3. Any person pi^orting to have storage facilities licensed for buying, possessing or selling Explosives should therefore, within Fo u r t e e n Da y s of me publication of this Notice, forward to the nearest Provincial Police Officer information regarding the date of issue of the old Licmce and the Storage Box Licence, giving the munbers respectively assigned to such licences.

4. Also, users of Explosives for the calender year commencing 1st January, 1969, who already possess storage facilities to be re-Ucensed, should apply to ffie nearest Provincial Police Officer within their State who will, after due inspection and consideration, issue the necessary Licence on payment of the usual fee of ten shillings.
