CROSS COUNTRY
On the 4th and 6th of October, Genesians participated in the Annual Cross Country marathon resulting in the excellent performance of the Scholars in Residence. Vineet Raj of Class 7 came in second in The Middle School Boys category, and Ishita Singhal of Class 7 dominated the Middle School category by winning the category. Ashwin Jha of Class 9 bagged the 3rd position in the Senior School Boys category. Ekta Singh and Suzanne Ngaseppam both of Class 11 came in first and third respectively in the Senior School Girls category. Krishna Bansal of Class 5 came second in the Junior Boys category, whereas Alankrita Shah of Class 5 came in second in the Junior Girls category.
On the 7th of October, A Parent-Teacher Meeting was organized in the school. Teachers conversed with parents of the scholars regarding the scholars progress and areas of concern in the various disciplines. Alongside the meet, there was a book fair organized for both parents and scholars. Subject enrichment ac-tivities were put on display . Artisans of various SUPW clubs, including the pottery club, portrayed their skill through models of clay, which the parents viewed with utmost interest.

INTER HOUSE RANGOLI COMPETITION

On the 12th of October, Scholars participated in the Inter-House Rangoli and Diya Decoration competition. The scholars of vari-ous houses spent time decorating rangolis to impress the judg-es. They made rangolis ranging from geometrical to floral patterns. The result of this competition is shown below:

INTER HOUSE TABLE TENNIS COMPETITION
Inter House Table Tennis Competition was held on the 28th
of October. The competition was divided into two groups
for boys; Group A consisted of classes 6-8 and Group B con-
sisted of classes 9-12. There was one group for girls in
which girls of all ages could compete with each other, thus
raising the competitive spirit amongst all. The result of the
competition is as follows:

FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP
Our Footballers got a chance to watch India’s maiden U-17 FIFA World Cup Match against Columbia held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi on 9th of October. Footballers were excited as they saw India giving stiff competition to its rival but they returned dis-appointed as the Columbian Team emerged as victors with a score of 2-1.

ANNUAL DAY
On 14th of October, parents were invited to the Annual Day Programme, organized by the scholars. The Chief Guest who graced the occasion was Mr. Bhure Lal, a former IAS officer who presently is the chairman of EPCA. Members of the Student Council gave reports on Academics, Sports and Residence respectively. It was followed by a Hindi Play; Chanakya and an English Play “The Sound of Mutiny” both received standing ovations from the audience. There was also a fusion of Indian Classical and Western Music by the school choir. Many of our Scholars in Residence won laurels in the field of academics. The names are as follows:

DIWALI CELEBRATION

Diwali the ‘festival of lights’ is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in autumn every year. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil and hope over despair. SIRs who stayed in the hostel for their Diwali break artistically decorated the entrance of the Hos-tel with beautiful rangolis. The whole display was overwhelming.
SPELL BEE COMPETITION
There was a Spelling Bee Competition held between the
junior scholars in residence on the 28th of October. The
competition was organized by Suzanne Ngaseppam a
scholar of Class 11. The event was very fruitful as the
scholars were challenged and were made to test their
knowledge in spelling. The result of the competition is
as follows:

ACHEIVEMENTS
BASKETBALL NATIONAL
Itqua Ansari (Class 7) was selected for Basketball Nationals. She represented the Uttar Pradesh Team at Didwana, Rajasthan from 8th October to 14th October, 2017. She made Genesis proud at the national platform via demonstration of her skill.
Scholars namely Kanin Kultha (Class 7) and Vidit Mahajan (Class 8) came second in the interschool story writing competition held at the Lotus Valley International School, Noida.

BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
From the 2nd of October to the 5th of October, the U-14 Girls Basketball Team participated in a basketball tournament held at Pathways School, Noida. Due to the perseverance and hard work of our girls, they attained an overall Runners Up position. The team consisted of Ishita Singhal, Radhika Juneja, Anukriti Kapoor, Shreya Bhusal, Syna Sethi, Sanya Aggarwal and Sanya Pervez.
FENCING COMPETITION
Recently, SIRs participated in a fencing competition held at Presidium School, Dwarka, Delhi, on 7th and 8th of October. They won many awards and made Genesis proud. Their achievements are listed below. Qais Shah has been selected for Fencing Nationals, which will be held in Gwalior.

Our school hosted a Tri Series Cricket Tournament span-
ning over 3 weekends in which they competed against
Skills Academy. Over a series of 3 matches our school won
2 matches including the final match on 28th of October.
Aryaman Gupta of Class 9 was declared the “Best Batsman”
with a score of 131 runs over the 3 matches.
