The Turning Point exists to offer help to

those who need someone to talk to -

someone who will listen and understand,

someone specially trained, someone they

can trust. Though the project is

Christian based, you do not have to be a

Christian to use the service. Issues of

you raise them.

appointment and given more

information. If you are happy a

counsellor will be chosen especially for

your circumstances and the help will

begin.

Overgate Hospice Choir, based in Halifax,

was founded in 1991 specifically to support

the work of Overgate Hospice, Elland, West

Yorkshire – over £240,000 has been raised

for Hospice funds so far.

Overgate Hospice provides specialist pallia-

tive care for adults in the Calderdale area.

All patients have a life-limiting, advanced,

progressive illness.

The choir presents four concerts annually of

music from the standard choral repertoire

along with Christmas Carols, Hymns, Opera

Choruses and Songs from the Shows.

As far as is known, Overgate was the first

hospice to have its own choir formed

specifically and solely for the purpose of

raising money for the hospice. Other groups

have followed but it is believed that

Overgate was the very first in that particular

field.

Hospice Choir, please visit

Movember, the month formerly known as

November, is when men around the world

grow a moustache for 30 days, with the

support of the women in their lives, to raise

awareness and funds for men’s health -

specifically prostate cancer, testicular

cancer and men’s mental health.

Since Movember’s humble beginnings in

2003 in Melbourne, Australia when 30 men

grew moustaches, Movember has become a

truly global movement, inspiring more than

4 million men and women to participate

across 21 countries. The Movember

community has raised over £345 million, and

has funded more than 800 programmes to

date.

Funds raised around the world are directed

to the Movember Foundation and the

organisation’s men’s health partners in each

country - In the UK they are Prostate Cancer

UK and The Institute of Cancer Research.

We all use roads to get around and most

of us use them in different ways: often a

mix of walking, catching the bus or driv-

ing, and maybe cycling, running or skating

too.

Yet sometimes it can feel like roads are

angry places. A lack of consideration and

care can have awful consequences. It can

mean people feel less able to get out and

about and less likely to choose walking

and cycling. It can also lead to tragedy:

people suffering horrific injuries or even

being killed because of someone going too

fast or not looking out.

In this year’s Road Safety Week, Brake are

asking everyone to look out for each other

on roads, because being selfish can easily

lead to tragedy.

Ghost, ghouls and monsters aren't the

only things to be afraid of on Halloween.

Accidents and mishaps can increase

dramatically when children are out

trick-or-treating.

Carry a torch!

Always trick or treat in groups, accompanied by an adult.

Stay on the pavements and off the streets.

Don't enter any houses unless you know the people.

Always watch for cars backing up or turning.

Never accept rides from strangers.

Don't eat any candy until it's inspected

Avoid any sweets that has loose wrappings or is unwrapped. Be aware of

nuts if you have an allergy.

Trick-or-treating evolved from an ancient

Celtic tradition of putting out treats and food to calm spirits still wandering

the earth
