Please remember that when medication is needed to be given at school, we must have the Physician’s Statement along with the Parent Request forms before medication can be administered. Medications are to be brought in by the parent or guardian in the original labeled container. Medication forms may be found on the schools’ web site under the Health section.

Thank you parents and students for getting 7th grade students vaccinated for Tdap and Meningitis!

Cold and Flu Season is here! You can help prevent the spread of illnesses.

• Try to avoid contact with sick people. If you get sick, the CDC recommends that you stay at home for at least 24 hours after the fever is gone, without use of fever reducing medicine such as Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen.

• Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.

• Wash your hands often with soap and water.

• Avoid touching your nose, mouth and eyes. Germs spread this way.

• Get a flu shot.

viSion ScreeningSThe Nurse will be starting to administer 7th Grade Vision Screenings the 3rd week of October. Please remember to bring your glasses or wear your contacts to school.

A very special thanks goes out to our JHPO. Thank you for the very generous donation to the Junior High School Clinic. The clothing and supplies are appreciated and will be helpful to many students for years to come!

aTHLeTic UPdaTeThe fall athletics seasons are winding down at Perrysburg Junior High. Our athletes have represented our school and community very well both on and off the field and we are excited about their accomplishments.

The girls cross country team completed a remarkable season, going undefeated in dual and invitational meets. Their season culminated on October 1 with a terrific race at Fort Meigs where they captured the NLL Championship! The boys cross country team made the evening a clean sweep, also bringing home the NLL Championship and completing a remarkable season of their own, winning all of their dual meets and three invitationals. Great job, Jackets!

The football season has passed the midway point, and both the 7th and 8th-grade teams are finding success on the gridiron. The 7th-grade team is currently 3-2, while the 8th-grade team remains undefeated at 4-0. Action continues through October. Good Luck!

The volleyball teams are both a perfect 13-0 as their season heads towards the finish. The regular season finishes up October 9 with the tournament beginning October 11. Keep up the good work!

The student sections at our home contests have continued to be unrivaled! It is exciting to see all of you come out and support your classmates. Let's finish the season strong!

PJHS is also gearing up for the winter athletic season. The required code of conduct and team meetings for all student-athletes will take place on October 22 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the PJHS Auditorium. PJHS offers boys and girls basketball and wrestling during the winter months.

You can find more information on the PJHS Athletic Department at http://www.perrysburgschools.net/AthleticDepartment_PJH.aspx and receive updates on Twitter @PJHSAthletics.

THe JackeT wayThe PJHS Jacket Way Program continues to thrive. On September 12, Mr. Christie, Mr. Buker and Mr. Cooper visited all the social studies classrooms to review the Jacket Way PBIS Matrix with students.

All students have participated in two Jacket Way Class Meetings. The Class Meetings are designed by the PJHS Jacket Way Team to promote characteristics that are essential in the Jacket Way.

In the first class meeting, there was a focus on building trust within the group. The second class meeting emphasized the importance of being prepared in the classroom and how students and employees can better prepare themselves for success.

The Jacket Way incentive program is off and running! As of October 1, there have been 504 Jacket Way Tickets redeemed during the Friday Redemption Sessions. Over 400 students have received at least one Jacket Way Ticket through the first two months of school.

As part of the Jacket Way Program, students had the opportunity to nominate peers for the newly created Student Leadership Council at PJHS. Students who are selected for this council will assist the Jacket Way Team and the Building Leadership Team in enhancing the student experience at PJHS.

meSSageS from mUSicBandThe PJHS Bands have been eagerly awaiting the beginning of Fall! Our 8th graders combined their powers with the PHS Marching Yellow Jackets to give a rousing performance at the PHS Varsity Football game on Friday, October 19. The students rehearsed and enjoyed a dinner with their PHS Band big brothers and sisters to prepare for their performance. Thank you to the PHS Marching Yellow Jackets for being amazing hosts.

We are excited to announce the start of the 2018 - 2019 PJHS Pep Band Season! Sign-ups began this month and rehearsals begin in November. Thank you for your support of the HPI and PJHS Bands during their Yankee Candle fundraiser. We appreciate everything you do for our students and hope to see you soon at one of our performances!

OrchestraPJHS Orchestra students are hard at work preparing for their first concert of the school year. The concert will feature the 7th and 8th grade orchestras and takes place on Thursday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the PJHS Auditorium.

It is a requirement that students are enrolled in their grade-level orchestra class to be a member of the Perrysburg Junior High String Ensemble. Only current 7th and 8th grade students may audition.
