Christmas 🎄 is nearly here and while we may have decorated the trees and wrapped presents, our hard work on the railway continues. Our larger riding trolley has been having some out of season attention and has undergone some maintenance work, which at times didn’t go according to plan but we got there eventually It’s all ready now for the 2019 season

Wow! What a year we have had, with some ups and downs on the railway. It is a great end to the year, following the hard time at the start with us losing the portable raised level track (DMVR). The railway now has over 250 feet of ground level track which is being upgraded and extended over the winter season. The new extension will include two sets of points which will enable a loop to be built to provide more operational flexibility as well as an extended track length. The improved line will be up and running for the 2019 season. I have been busy testing, renovating and repairing the rolling stock. Plus, I have started a project to install semaphore signalling along the line which in time will be automated in connection with the operation of moving trains. This will ensure that the railway operates safely as well as making it more realistic to visitors

The plan for next year is to buy a brand new steam engine, a 'Sweet Pea', 0-4-0 saddle tank, which will be easy to operate. This will be our first live steam engine which operates just like its standard gauge cousins. This development will bring a whole new dimension to operating the railway. The Class 37 will become our new club diesel locomotive; whilst 08097, the Buttolph Flyer and the Sweet Pea will be visiting various different clubs in and around the Norfolk area. Our first event will be our Members Day on the 13th of April 2019 (BFMRG). Our first outing, with 08097, will be on the 21st of April at Eaton Park Miniature Railway to celebrate a close friend's birthday. We have plenty more events lined up for 2019.

We were grateful for the protection of the garage in our recent repainting jobs of the boards for the railway track, a recent cold windy and wet spell, made it more difficult to get things done but temperatures are rising once again so we are able to push along another step closer to reach our goals

Our website Visitor Statistics in 2017 was 92,948k but our visitor Statistics in 2018 was 98,687k.

Facebook page On 15/12/16 we had 33likesOn 15/12/17 we had 144 likes On 15/12/18 but we have now got 409 likes on Facebook and 39,687 people look at our posts this year 2018 And all our updates on Facebook our visitor 78% from Wymondham and Norwich & 10% from Norfolk, Peterborough, Nottingham, Suffolk & Lincolnshire & 9% are from Australia & 2% was from USA
