ROSARY ON THE COAST for Faith, Life & Peace in the British Isles
3pm Sunday 29th April 2018 2.45pm Assemble to the west of Bournemouth Pier.
3pm The Rosary begins all around the coast of the Countries of the British Isles.
For those unable to get to the beach, the Rosary will also be prayed at 3pm in the Oratory Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Richmond Hill BH1 1BZ.
Those unable to get to a Church are asked to pray the Rosary at 3pm in their homes, gathering with others if possible.
Visit the website: www.rosaryonthecoast.co.uk Coastal Parishes should be ready to welcome in-land Catholics who’ll be heading to the coast on this day.
This initiative of the Catholic Laity across the British Isles invites the faithful of our nations, supported by our Bishops, Clergy, and the Rectors of our English and Welsh National Marian Shrines at Walsingham and Our Lady of the Taper, following the recent examples of Poland and all Ireland.
THANK YOU for the EASTER OFFERING
By ancient tradition this is your personal gift to the Parish Clergy (shared with our Permanent Deacon).
In the Oratory, part of this goes to provide our communal needs, and a portion is given as ‘pocket money’ to each individual Community Member.
Thank you also for your gifts-in-kind, which are greatly valued, and your cards, many of which expressed deep appreciation for the Oratory, our pastoral care and liturgical style, and a growth in understanding why Bishop Philip invited us here.
BRINGING PEOPLE CLOSER TO JESUS CHRIST THROUGH HIS CHURCH is the title of a booklet which Bishop Philip is giving to all Parishioners in Portsmouth Diocese to coincide with his Pastoral Letter to us next weekend.
Following the success of his Christmas gift book “Rediscover Jesus”, and our Lent Study Groups on it, we may follow a similar format to explore this aspect of evangelization, and launch the promised Ascent Movement on monthly Wednesday mornings.
DURING THE EASTER SEASON new Christians are often Baptized, and Converts Received into the Church. While none of our neophytes were ready for Reception this Easter (and some are asking to have a second year of RCIA on the Evangelium programme) some will be Received later this year. Please keep them all in your prayers as they continue to grow as Disciples of Jesus Christ through His holy Catholic Church.
ST VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY (SVP) is being re-founded in our Parish (after many years) with a brief talk at the end of all Masses on Sunday 29th April, when there will also be opportunity to register your interest, find out more, and be involved. Talk to Mike Hughes, and visit: www.svp.org.uk
HURRAH, CHRIST IS RISEN! Saturday 21 April: Day of Prayer & Reflection led by Fr Tony Horan SJ in the Memorial Room at Corpus Christi begins with tea /coffee at 10.30 for 11am, and ends by 4.15pm. Come for the day (bring packed lunch) or just the morning or afternoon session. The choice is yours!
OUR CATHOLIC SHOP is open on Sundays after the 10.30am Solemn Mass (11.30am - 12.30pm) for distinctly Catholic books and devotional articles. Located at rear of small hall in the Catholic Institute. Home-made cakes and beverages are also available.
DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY This Sunday afternoon’s Divine Mercy devotions begin at 2.45pm with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. The Confessional will be attended. At 3pm (the hour Jesus died, pouring out His mercy) we say ‘The Three O’Clock Prayer’, Divine Mercy Chaplet and other devotions. Benediction is at 3.30pm, and the Holy Hour closes at 3.45pm in readiness for the usual 4pm Mass.
The Divine Mercy was revealed to Sister Faustina, and Divine Mercy Sunday instituted by Pope St John Paul II, developed by Pope Benedict XVI, and enhanced by Pope Francis in the recent Year of Mercy. Pope St John Paul II teaches: Christ has taught us that “man not only receives and experiences the mercy of God, but is also called ‘to practise mercy’ towards others”. “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.” (Matthew 5.7)
