AUSTRALIA’S UNDERGROUND BASES. By Rex Gilroy

Copyright © Rex Gilroy 2010. Much has already been written by me on the top secret American/Australian self-sufficient ‘underlands’ that, since the beginning of the Cold War and on into the present, have been constructed deep into the earth. The most famous of these covers the Blue Mountains with extensions as far south as the Goulburn district and northwards to the Wollemi National Park, with extensions to the Cowra, Orange and Mudgee districts in the west, and links to coastal underwater bases south of Wollongong and north of Newcastle. As a book by the Gilroys on Queensland UFO mysteries still in preparation shows, other underground bases exist in that state and another book yet to be published covers all the Australian bases. This will include Pine Gap. Yet this Central Australian base pales into insignificance compared with the Blue Mountains complexes. While the original purpose of these bases largely concerned the development of nuclear weapons, about the mid-1960s this all changed to the development of an advanced space travel technology, in which an ET civilisation appears to be involved. The full story is to be found in our book “Blue Mountains Triangle - Secret Underground Australian/American Bases and the ET Connection” [URU Publications 2006]. As the book reveals, these underland centres, aside from their military/scientific activities, contain cities and towns linked by road and rail networks and with daylight lighting are an underground version of life on the surface. These vast complexes exist elsewhere in the free world, particularly in the United States and are designed to hold hundreds of thousands, perhaps even millions of people, for they are being added to continually. In the past these centres provided an escape from nuclear war and its after effects on the surface, but since the end of the Cold War the nuclear threat has gone, to be replaced by other threats. One such threat concerns the approach in Earth’s direction of a mighty asteroid the size of Tasmania squared, which scientists speculate may or may not strike the Earth in about 20 or so years time. Even if it misses us, it will come close enough to perhaps cause devastation, such as tidal waves etc. If it does strike the Earth it will create a nuclear winter like that which killed the dinosaurs and most other forms of life existing at that time. To escape this same scenario, scientists and others in the United States have been removing animals, birds and even insect species to these ‘underland’ complexes where special centres have recreated their surface environments, for the eventual reoccupation of the surface in the future after the nuclear effects have settled dow n. It is the same for the human inhabitants. And as the world’s population growth is fast outgrowing the means to feed it, these ‘underlands’ will contain the means to feed their own populations. At the same time the advanced space travel technology will one day be used to colonise and ‘green’ Mars, a secret hope of scientists in the USA to solve the population problems on Earth. As a future book of the Gilroys reveals, this plan, with ET assistance is already under way! Indeed, the United States military and NASA are believed to have been operati g a top secret space travel program other than what the general public has been deliberately fed on Television and in other media for years, and that a secret colonisation operation is already under way on Mars itself! If the asteroid strikes Earth, those inhabitants of the deepest complexes beneath the surface will survive the expected jolt depending where the space body strikes. The ‘underland’

world is free of the pollution that is literally slowly killing the surface, and the Martian colonisation program [already believed to be under way] is yet another solution to our problems, provided we don’t ‘trash’ that planet also! This colonisation may even have much to do with the numbers of UFOs seen at night to rise from the Burragorang Valley depths to leave the earth and similar sightings occur at other underground base entrances around Australia. Night time is obviously the best time for such secret operations, so as to avoid notice by the general public. Blue Mountains UFO Research Club continues to watch that valley from where so many objects are seen to fly into and out of the openings there that lead to perhaps the largest ‘underground’ community on Earth.

an artificial atmosphere. Within these daylight-lit underground cities and towns thousands of people live with every imaginable modern convenience, parks, cinemas,

sports and other recreational pastimes. Some boast artificial watercourses for fishing and swimming, parks and gardens etc. This vast underground ‘empire’ has its own currency and businesses, mining its own raw materials, all being ruled by a mysterious leader

PINE GAP BASE: WORLD CONTEXT (AREA 51 OF AUSTRALIA)

Lucien Cometta (reprinted on UFO newsgroups)

From Dr. Jean Francois Gille, who moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico from France, comes a translation of a French document that exposes the relationship between several factors in the matrix of world affairs. The article, titled - 'PINE GAP BASE: WORLD CONTEXT', was written by Lucien Cometta and later translated into English by Dr. John Gille: "In order to understand the case of the Pine Gap US base (near Alice Springs, Australia) better, I feel compelled to give some explanations beforehand. I hope these explanations will help to increase the general awareness of the extraordinary importance that facility has for mankind as a whole. "The majority of people, all over the world, are not lingering in doubt as to whether UFOs and ETs are real. They know they are real. Here in early 1989, no one questions their existence. The case for UFOs and ETs aroused passions, controversies and grandstanding for many years. Some of it has not been quite rational. The matter being relatively settled, public opinions should cool down. It is with a serene and clear mind that we ought to be thinking of our future relationship with the peoples from space. However, the public mind is not at peace. It vaguely feels that the governments are hiding "something real big", and it wonders where our leaders are going to lead mankind. "During the process of research and study of UFOs and aliens, researchers who do not take the explanations of the scientific establishment at face value have discovered unsettling facts; these facts have started the lifting off (of) the lid of the cover-up. The value and prestige of their sources of information do not leave any doubt about the truthfulness of these reports; the main outlines are summarized below." PINE GAP "The United States has three major bases in Australia. One is in South Australia (Nurranger, near Woomera, T.N.), another in New South Wales, and the third (and by far the largest) is located within about 230 km (143 miles) of the geographical centre of the continent, not far to the west of Alice Springs (Northern Territory), at the foothills of the southern slopes of the MacDonnell Range. This base is completely underground, with barely visible entrances to the surface. "This 'Top Secret' base is entirely financed by the United States Government, and is officially known as the Joint Defence Space Research Facility. "When the JDSRF was first initiated, its aim was scientific research for the supposed development of a space defence technology. It is now known that since its inception, its primary purpose was research into electromagnetic propulsion. "What exactly is Pine Gap? As strange as it may seem, even Australian Federal Parliament members do not know. Among the Cabinet members, only a small number of 'initiates' have a vague idea of what this is all about. The only information source available to the public is the cross-checking done by private researchers such as Jimmy Guieu, following statements made by the United States or Australian magazines (always very short and terse paragraphs), and anything the locals may notice. "It is said that under Pine Gap is the deepest drilling hole in Australia - about 5 miles (more than 8,000 meters). Such a hole is likely used as an underground antenna able to recharge the batteries of submarines in the Pacific and Indian Ocean through ELF broadcasts. Such a gigantic antenna could be used to generate the gigantic stationary wave around the Earth. "Some say that Pine Gap has an enormous nuclear generator to supply energy to a new type of transceiver. It seems too that there is a high-powered, high-voltage plasma accelerator which may be put to use to transmit electric current, or even to produce a 'death-ray', or quite simply to feed a plasma gun. All this is not as incredible as it sounds: it is now known that the US base of West Cape, near Exmouth Gulf in Western Australia (Harold E. Holt USN Communication Station), has an older type of the transceiver used at

7

Pine Gap which is used to send electric current to submerged US submarines who trail a wire antenna. It is known that electric currents transmitted in this way are referred to as plasmo-dynamic cells. "Several times, locals have seen WHITE DISKS about 30' in diameter in the process of being unloaded from large US cargo planes at the airports serving Pine Gap. Those disks had the USAF emblem on them. It seems likely that disks are assembled and based at Pine Gap. The number of disks seen at night leaves no doubt in anyones mind. An amazing quantity of furniture has been delivered by plane from the United States. The locals also say that an enormous amount of food is stocked in warehouses of what could well be a true multi-levelled underground city. "On the other hand, Pine Gap is well known as one of the most important control centres for spy satellites which circle the globe. An article published in late 1973 claimed that the Pine Gap installation, along with its sister installation in Guam, were used to control the photographic missions of the large American satellites in orbit above the Earth. "Pine Gap has enormous computers which are connected to their American and Australian central counterparts, which collect all the information secured in these countries, not only about finance and technology, but on every aspect of the life of the average citizen. Those computers at Pine Gap are also evidently connected to similar mainframes in Guam, in Krugersdorp South Africa, and at the Amundsen-Scott US base at the South Pole. "Let us say, incidentally, that the employees (more than 1200) of the US base in South Africa all claim to be members of the US consular mission in that country. It may be worthy of note that the Amundsen-Scott base at the South Pole is located on a sensitive magnetic spot of our planet, that it holds exactly the same assets as Pine Gap, and that all the information about most of the average citizens of Western Europe is stored there in memory banks tens of meters under the icepack. "A statement made by the Australian premier about 1987, assuring that 'France must disappear from the Pacific, from the Kerguelen Ridge, and from Antarctica' sheds light on the importance of this polar base for the Anglo-S - axon world. "The most disquieting fact about Pine Gap may be that the employees working on the base, and especially those earmarked for duty on electromagnetic propulsion projects, have undergone brainwashing and even implantation of intracranial devices. Those employees have turned into unconditional slaves of their master, whoever he is. Rather scary, isn't it? "The true point of the brainwashing of those individuals, along with the ruthless attempts to implement the cover-up of really advanced military technology, will become clear at the end of this article. "For me, it all began with the construction of the new Parliament building in Canberra, which cost billions of dollars. Australia has only 18 million inhabitants, yet it apparently treated itself to a building far beyond its means...supposedly to accommodate its government even if the old Parliament building was perfectly fine. "This new building, enormous, immense and magnificent would easily fit the needs of the USSR or of the United States, which both have hundreds of millions of citizens to rule. That building puzzled me, and I started to talk about it until the day I bumped into an Englishman who told me that the Australian premier, Bob Hawk, was a Rhodes scholar, and as such he worked toward the setting up of a One World Government, and that this new Parliament building likely had something to do with it. "Sometime after, I stumbled on a pamphlet published by the Human Rights Organization, which talked about a group of about a hundred people well-placed in high finance, politics, the judiciary branch and big business. This group was called the 'Club of ROME'. According to this pamphlet, the CLUB OF ROME was pledged to a consortium which controls all international finance. A number of other groups similar to the CLUB OF ROME are equally pledged to that finance consortium, AND ARE INFILTRATING THE VARIOUS POLITICAL AND RELIGIOUS GROUPS WITH THE INTENTION TO MAKE PROGRESS TOWARD THE INSTITUTION OF A WORLD DICTATORSHIP. "The whole thing looked a little bit too preposterous to be true, it seemed to me. Nevertheless, a friend of mine gave me an audio cassette taped at a lecture given by Peter Sawyer, a former high-ranking Australian civil servant, which exposed a certain number of facts he had noticed while in office. He talked, in particular, of a telephone exchange in Canberra called 'Deacon Centre'. This exchange, built in concrete with 4 (ft. ? - Branton) thick walls, cost hundreds of millions of dollars. It is outfitted with numerous computers, arrayed on four levels. When he tried to find out why such equipment was needed in a country of only 18 million, he discovered that those computers were connected to all the banks, to every post office, to all telephones, and to all of the police stations and customs houses; to every arrival and departure desk for air or sea travellers; and also and above all, to the other data centres collecting data on private citizens... in the United States as well as in Europe.

Page 8: The Blue Mountains UFO Research Club Newsletter - July 2010

8

"That facility on Deacon Street is therefore a Centre where all the data pertaining to every citizen of the Western World end up being stored. All financial, economic, political and military information, as well as the information on every inhabitant of those countries. As a matter of course, all people living in Australia are put on file, kept up with and labelled. "Peter Sawyer discovered also that the president of the ROCKEFELLER FOUNDATION came for a lengthy stay in Australia to supervise in person the construction of 20 luxury residences in Canberra (the Australian government footed the bill), in the wonderful setting of a National Park, where, legally, nobody is allowed to build. "The investigations lead by Sawyer exposed, first, that the new Parliament building is meant to accommodate the world government-to-be; and, second, that the 20 luxury residences will be allocated to the different foreign members of that government... Why choose Canberra as the headquarters of the new world government? Simply because Australia is a peaceful country, with very few natives likely to turn rebellious, and, above all, it's an English speaking country. No other English speaking country can offer the safety Australia will provide at the time of the taking over by the World Government. In America and Europe, uprisings are more than likely, and South America not only is not English-speaking, but its fondness for revolutions and social disturbances is well known. "Australia is thus the ideal place for such an undertaking. How is the advent of a World Government possible in the near future? It is relatively easy, as we will explain. "First, who are those 'internationalists' who want to take over the planet? THE ONES WHO WANT TO SET UP A WORLD GOVERNMENT ARE 15 FAMILIES OR SO, WHO ALREADY GOVERN ALL OF INTERNATIONAL FINANCE AND KEEP A TIGHT LEASH ON MOST GOVERNMENTS THROUGH THE ABSOLUTE CONTROL OF THEIR FINANCES AND THEIR DOMESTIC ECONOMY. These finance moguls devised their plan after World War I, and have been working since on an insidious undermining process aimed at economic destabilization all over the West. "If those financiers are obviously labelled 'capitalists', it is a very deceptive label, though, for, in fact, they never stopped to pull the strings of the progressive parties, as well as those of the conservative parties. Their idea is logical, and lay, quite simply, in the destabilization of the countries of the West on the political, economic and religious levels. IT MAY BE SURPRISING TO SOME THAT THESE 'INNOVATORS' HAD INFILTRATED THE TOP LEVELS OF THE MAIN RELIGIOUS ESTABLISHMENTS, ONLY A SMALL NUMBER OF YEARS WAS NEEDED TO MAKE THEM VIRTUALLY POWERLESS... (Were these establishments 'bought out' through financial contributions? - Branton) "Economic destabilization is implemented through a slower but most efficient process. This process (already under way) will cause the entire financial system of the West to collapse. The people involved are the same people who cause the price of oil to go up and then, after convincing European neighbours to agree to these price rises, provide that the yield coming from the price rises will be paid to the 'International Reserve Bank', which is entirely at their command. The Reserve Bank hands the money over to a 'holding bank' who lavishly loans the money to Third World countries for usurious rates of interest. "The holding bank receives the interest paid by the underdeveloped countries, then puts it into another 'holding bank' which, in turn, invests the huge quantity of money on behalf of the Arabs. "Those investments are made into thriving large businesses. In the meantime, only small interests are sent to Arab countries. "Those who engineered the plan were perfectly aware that the leaders of the underdeveloped countries would be tempted to pocket a good part of the received money. "I IRB will then tell the Arab countries that the holding bank investments have turned out badly, all their assets had vanished and that no interest will be paid any more. The Arab countries will then have no choice but to put all the securities they own on the market, as well as quite an amount of property bought by the second holding bank. A good part of these possessions will then be frozen, because they will have been bought with the aid of not entirely repaid loans, and they will be part of the assets of the first holding bank, gone bankrupt. The incredible quantity of shares put on the market at the same time will cause a stock market crash of such magnitude that all the national economies of the West will collapse at the same time. "The planet will find itself in a desperate predicament. Cash will not be worth a damn, and the risks of a global confrontation (planned!) will be high. ENTER PINE GAP "At this point, the usefulness of bases like Pine Gap will become obvious. If a Global confrontation is going to break out, those bases will serve as a place of safety for the politicians and their staff, as well as the international financiers, their family and friends.

Page 9: The Blue Mountains UFO Research Club Newsletter - July 2010

"If no confrontation breaks out, the financiers will adapt a 'saintly' attitude AND OFFER SUBSTITUTION OF ALL CURRENCIES BY PLASTIC CARDS, ENSURING 'TRUE EQUALITY' FOR ALL; THE ABOLITION OF ALL OWNERSHIP RIGHTS; and the setting up of a World Government that will 'ensure peace'. "The masses (consciousness as a group) will be convinced that it is necessary to ensure Peace and Social Justice by any means, including force. THE POTENTIAL ACHIEVED THROUGH THE EQUIPMENT OF THE UNDERGROUND BASES WILL MAKE POSSIBLE THE DISAPPEARANCE WITHOUT A TRACE OF THOSE WHO DO NOT CONFORM AND THOSE WHO 'HINDER THE HAPPINESS OF THE PEOPLE'. Also, it will ensure the swift crushing of any possible uprising. IT MAY ALSO HAPPEN THAT OUR NEW 'MASTERS' WILL END UP TELLING THE PEOPLE THAT THEY HAVE THE ALIENS' SUPPORT, AND THAT WE (ARE) AT THE 'EVE OF THE MILLENNIUM, A GOLDEN AGE'...... IT WILL BE THE WORST DICTATORSHIP EVER KNOWN TO MANKIND. "......IT IS QUITE CERTAIN THAT OTHER BASES HAVE BEEN BUILT IN THE UNITED STATES AND ELSEWHERE IN THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE. IT MAY EVEN BE THAT THE US BASES OCCUPIED BY THE GREYS, IN THE US MAINLAND, ARE OF THE SAME TYPE. ONE RUMOR HOLDS THAT A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE GREYS IS FOUND IN EACH OF THE UNDERGROUND US BASES IN THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE. "None of the above has anything to do with science fiction. All of what I said in this text is true, and doesn't give a very rosy picture of the future."

UFO'S IN AUSTRALIA

UFO's are a global phenomena - sightings reported everywhere including Australia. Although there have been UFO sightings all over Australia, some of the most frequent sightings have been in New South Wales, near Katoomba.

One of the most famous cases occurred in 1972 on the Bernard Eddelbuttel farm. As Mrs. Eddelbuttel was washing dishes one night she saw an orange light moving above the trees and descending west of the house behind some pig sheds. Thinking the lights came from spotlight hunters who shoot game when it is blinded by light, she called her husband who was in the bathtub to come and investigate. Meanwhile a brother-in-law went to the pig sheds to investigate. What he saw seized him with panic and he ran back to the farmhouse to tell the others. There was a disk-shaped craft hovering amid the trees with a light so bright it lit up the whole area. The blinding light came from a central dome, but there were other lights around it. As he watched, the glow faded rapidly, leaving the craft almost invisible in the darkness among the trees.

The family locked and bolted every door and called the police. Meanwhile motorists on a nearby freeway had seen the light and were also calling to report it. At first the police were reluctant to investigate and it took several calls to get them to drive out to the farm. When they arrived, all traces of the UFO were gone. Others also reported seeing the object at close range.

In another report in 1973 Jason Bentley sighted a strange object at 8 pm, passing over nearby Kanimbla Valley (not far from Bathurst), heading from east to west. The valley was covered in a layer of mist

Page 10: The Blue Mountains UFO Research Club Newsletter - July 2010

10

and the object, which was lit by bright yellow lights reflected off the mist, as it travelled at great speed. Within the next half hour others also reported seeing the UFO.

In 1990 a group of high school boys hiking in the Jamieson Valley reported being buzzed by silver, spherical ball with small spike projections about 40 centimetres in width. It made fast, erratic movements above them, then hovered nine feet above the track ahead of them before shooting off over the trees. This area has often been the site of UFO encounters. In 1977 a group of seven young men on a camping trip heard a loud, throbbing noise that seemed to be coming from the earth beneath them. As it increased the earth seemed to vibrate and the boys tried to find its source. Failing that, they tried to sleep, but the throbbing continued most of the night. The next day they could find no explanation for the noise or vibration.

ACADEMIC THROWS LIGHT ON 40-YEAR-OLD UFO MYSTERY October 2, 2005

Ring of mystery: Shaun Matthews revisits Grange Reserve where he witnessed the UFO. Photo: Craig Sillitoe

Just what did flash out of the sky and into the lives of hundreds that April day? Stephen Cauchi reports. A CANBERRA academic is investigating one of Australia's most compelling UFO mysteries, a

sighting by hundreds of people in the Melbourne suburb of Westall on April 6, 1966. More than 200 students and staff from two schools watched as the object landed in a nearby

paddock, lifted off and vanished. Shane Ryan, an English lecturer at the University of Canberra, is interviewing dozens of witnesses for

a book he hopes to publish on the 40th anniversary of the sighting. Mr Ryan, 38, was alerted to the events in the 1980s by a housemate who was there. Unlike most UFO

sightings, the Westall object had a large number of credible witnesses. It was viewed in daylight and attracted a forceful response from police and the RAAF.

"It had these rather interesting elements which indicated to me that, unlike some other so-called UFO stories, there was some substance to this," he told The Sunday Age.

"I knew the 40th anniversary was coming up next year, so I thought it was timely to do some research on it."

Mr Ryan has interviewed about 30 witnesses, mostly former staff and students from the Westall secondary and primary schools. He has tried obtaining police and RAAF reports, but so far with little luck. The story was covered then by Channel Nine, The Age and local newspapers.

On the UFO, everyone seems to agree, Mr Ryan says. It was a low-flying, silver/grey shining object, either of classical flying saucer shape or close to it, "a cup turned upside down on a saucer". The students were familiar with light aircraft because the schools were close to Moorabbin Airport. Although the UFO was of similar size, "everyone said straight away that they knew it was not a plane", Mr Ryan said, nor a weather balloon.

The object was in view for up to 20 minutes, and many saw it descend. Most agree it landed behind pine trees at the Grange Reserve. Dozens of students ran across what was then an open paddock to the reserve to investigate, but the object had lifted off and vanished.

11

Other details are sketchier. The UFO appears to have left a circle of scorched grass; others say several circles were left in paddocks bordering Grange Reserve.

Many witnesses, not all, report seeing aircraft, up to five, trailing the UFO. Some say it made no sound, others say it did.

Many reported that police/air force/military personnel inspected the site; some (not all) say the authorities burnt the site. The Dandenong Journal, for which the story was front-page news two weeks in a row, reported that "students and staff have been instructed to 'talk to no-one' about the incident". Nevertheless, one teacher, Andrew Greenwood, gave the paper a detailed account.

Illustration: Matt Golding

"It was silvery-grey and seemed to thicken at times," he said. "The thickening was similar to when a disc is turned a little to show the underside."

One of the closest witnesses was a boy whose family leased land at Grange Reserve for horses. Shaun Matthews (not a student at Westall) was on holidays and spending time on the land. "I saw the thing come across the horizon and drop down behind the pine trees," he told The Sunday

Age this week. "I couldn't tell you what it was. It certainly wasn't a light aircraft or anything of the like … "I saw the thing drop down behind the pine trees and saw it leave again. I couldn't tell you how long

it was there for, it was such a long time ago." Mr Matthews, 51 and now living in Greenvale, said the object "went up and off very very rapidly". "I went over and there was a circle in the clearing. It looked like it had been cooked or boiled, not

burnt as I remember," he said. "A heap of kids from Westall primary and high school came charging through to see what had happened — 'look at this, look at that, we saw it as well', that sort of thing. It was a bit of a talking point for a couple of days."

Mr Matthews said the object, about the size of "two family cars", passed him at a distance of about "four football fields". "It was silvery, but it had a sort-of purple hue to it, very bright, but not bright enough that you couldn't look at it," he said.

"I saw that it dropped down behind the trees, and I thought, 'hello, hang on'. A minute or so later, it went straight up, just gone."

He said police and other officials interviewed his mother. But he cannot remember them burning the landing site, as others have alleged. And he did not see any light aircraft trailing the object, as others did.

"The way this thing moved there is no way it could have been a weather balloon or a light aircraft," he said.

"A helicopter? No way — no noise, wrong shape, and it didn't move like it. It came out of the distance, stopped, and then just dropped.

"It didn't just sort of cruise and then slightly descend at an angle. It just stopped, dropped, and then went straight up."

The Victorian UFO Research Society investigated the incident. VUFORS secretary Tony Cook said Westall remained one of Australia's major unexplained UFO cases.

The top one was the case of Frederick Valentich, a 20-year-old Melbourne pilot whose light plane disappeared while flying over Bass Strait in 1978.

In the last minutes of radio communication, Valentich reported seeing a UFO hovering above his plane. He and his craft were never recovered.

"It's pretty well documented," Mr Cook said. "That's probably the most important one because it involves the disappearance of a person."

Page 12: The Blue Mountains UFO Research Club Newsletter - July 2010

Newsletter of The Blue Mountains UFO Research Club July 2010.

12

Mr Cook said the society's stance on UFOs was that, "there are people out there seeing unusual things in the sky at times and they can't be explained. But it's a very big leap to go from unexplained things in the sky to extraterrestrials."

Most witnesses, including Mr Matthews, say the UFO was not an aircraft or helicopter. But Westall is only six kilometers from Moorabbin Airport, and the object was roughly headed in that direction, travelling north to south.

"It sounds to me like some sort of experimental craft, very much Earth-based," Steve Roberts, of Australian Skeptics, said.

"It is an interesting event with lots of witnesses and what we now call a crop circle. "Accounts are confused. Some have the object landing and taking off again, others say 'a paddock

over which the object seemed to hover'." As well, "if there was a whole swag of officials investigating it, there must be an official report in

RAAF archives somewhere". But Mr Ryan said that no one at the RAAF knew of the incident. But given the history of the case — the way students and staff were told to keep quiet from the start

— that was not surprising, he said. "As I got a little bit older, I got a little more interested in the social and historical aspects of the story,

how something like this could have happened and how it reflected society at the time, and how authorities responded to it," he said.

"There's been a layer of secrecy that was very, very prominent in this story from the beginning." Contact Shane Ryan on shaneryan@velocit

ITS RAINING UFO DOWN UNDER

Melbourne, The reports of UFO sightings in Australia have gone up with at least seven separate incidents having been reported in the past week.

Buzz up! The sighting of some "unexplained phenomena" has been happening almost every night since the first was reported last week, and most have taken place in Darwin's rural area. A woman, who wants to be identified as only Shirel, reported the first sighting on April 21, saying that she saw the strange lights from her Humpty Doo home hovering over Howard Springs. "The lights were really low in the sky, really bright, with flashing dots," the Daily Telegraph quoted her as saying. "Three of them formed a semi-circle and they hovered over the area for at least half an hour," she revealed.

There were three separate sightings on April 23 including British backpacker Kylie Myers who said she had "never believed in anything like UFOs" before her strange encounter. Myers, 27, said she stopped her car on the side of the road to grab her camera from the glove box, but the light disappeared. "It was pretty spooky," she stated. There were more sightings at Coolalinga on April 24, Acacia Hills on April 25 and again in Howard Springs on April 27. But astronomer Geoff Carr told the Northern Territory News he was "far from believing any of this UFO stuff". "Unless aliens have found a way to travel faster than light speed, it's a doubtful thing to believe they came to visit us," he said. Carr added he believed 99.9 per cent of all the UFO sightings could be explained as simple weather phenomena. MY WORDS'= IT WAS REAL UFO .

UFO SIGHTING REPORTS - AUSTRALIA Please note that the reports in this section have been submitted to UFOINFO/UFO ROUNDUP and accepted in good faith. No investigation has been carried out by UFOINFO. With the increasing use of digital cameras we are seeing more photos showing alleged 'UFOs' - many of these could be insects, cloud shapes etc. As many readers have asked to see the photos I will be using some of them and leaving it to the individual to make up their own mind - John @ UFOINFO.

JULY 10TH 2010 : VALENTINE, NEWCASTLE, NEW SOUTH WALES. UFOINFO Sighting Form Report Location: Valentine, Newcastle NSW Date: July 10 2010 Time: Approx. 10:45pm 1st & 11:00 second sighting Number of witnesses: 1 adult 2 children (10 & 14yrs) Number of objects: 1 at each sighting Shape of objects: Solid sphere of VERY bright light...so bright it looked like it could have been on fire. Could your sighting be a UFO balloon/lantern?: No Weather Conditions: No wind, clear sky. Description: First sighted by my Uncle as he approached his home. He ran in and got my sister 10yrs and me 14yrs to come out the front of the house to see it. We saw a large Very bright sphere travelling fast, sth/west and it disappeared behind trees on the hill. It had no sound. Moments later we were standing in the kitchen talking about what we had seen, when my uncle said "oh f**k there it is again" as he was pointing out the window at the back of the house approx. 5kms away. It was also a VERY bright large sphere of light, travelling towards us in a sth/west direction. We ran out onto the back veranda at which time it had travelled SO fast that it was already directly above us. Because of it's brightness it was hard to judge how high it was, but it appeared to be as low flying as a plane. We ran out the front to follow it and it continued it's path in the same direction as the first sighting and disappeared in the same proximity of the first sighting. It also appeared to quiver as it moved, with randomly brighter lights at the front giving the appearance of searchlights. It emitted no sound at all.

colour and thumbnail in size. Sighting lasted for more than 10 mins and inspired feelings of awe, no fear.

JULY 4TH 2010 : ABERFOYLE PARK, SOUTH AUSTRALIA. UFOINFO Sighting Form Report Location: Aberfoyle Park, South Australia Date: July 4 2010 Time: 8:50pm Number of witnesses: 6 Number of objects: 1 Shape of objects: Too high in the atmosphere Could your sighting be a UFO balloon/lantern?: No Weather Conditions: Freezing and clear Description: Orange light extremely high in the sky. Moving slowly. No sound. One witness saw the light 'drop' something. We watched and took images/film of the light move North West to South West. Not in a straight line, seemed to change direction. Object got smaller, like it was moving out of the atmosphere. UFOINFO Note: I have asked for copies of the photos.

APRIL 25TH 2010 : WILBERFORCE, NEW SOUTH WALES. AUFORN Sighting Form Report Received on 26/04/2010 12:32:06 25.04.10 WILBERFOCE (NSW) 18:15hrs Source: AUFORN ONLINE UFO Report Form Witness: Mr. Owen H Number of witnesses present: 4 Sighting Duration: 30 seconds Occupation: School Teacher. Interests: I am capable at identifying flying aircraft where I live at various ranges night and day due to living near an airforce base and also due to knowledge in military aircraft thanks to my educational background. Observation: I was driving home from Windsor to Wilberforce through the farms and approximately 400 metres from the small bridge which you cross to enter Wilberforce I saw approach from the left side of my vision an object flying at about 1000 feet and moving at a slow speed. It flew across the road and then across a local camping spot and out of sight.

Richmond RAAF base is nearby so there is a good chance that this is just an incorrect sighting of one of their aircraft, but this did not look like or sound like any of the C-130s, C-17s, F-18s, Hawk trainers or P-3 Orion's that fly in and out of Richmond RAAF from time to time ( aircraft listed in order of activity, with C-130s and C-17s comprising about 90% of sightings). I knew immediately that the craft was not one that usually flew around Richmond RAAF however it was not a saucer and showed no strange characteristics in flight. Description: The object was a solid black equilateral triangle, with 3 large solid downlights that did not strobe, approximately 30 metres in length each side. As the craft crossed my vision I looked for any sign of wings, tails and navigational lights or strobe lights, none of which were presents. The aircraft was completely silent, and showed no unusual flight characteristics when I witnessed it.

On a personal note whilst I was surprised to see the craft the unremarkable nature of the sighting and the look of the craft led me to initially dismiss it as just a faulty sighting, but since yesterday I have been unable to get it out of my head. Location: On Wilberforce Road, approximately 400 metres from Buttsworth Creek Bridge, which you cross to enter Wilberforce Other Witnesses: There were other cars ahead of me, however I did not see anyone stop or look at the sighting as remarkable. Apparent Size: Dinner Plate Actual Size: To me it looked to be an equilateral triangle with sides of 30 metres each. Altitude: I believe that the altitude was 1000 feet. Object Origin: Westerly from the direction of Richmond RAAF Object Destination: Easterly Planets Visible: It was Dusk and cloudy so no stars or moon were visible. Other Experiences: Approximately 6 months ago I briefly witnessed a small silver orb for approximately 15 seconds near the same area whilst driving on the same road, however it immediately disappeared out of sight and I thought nothing of it. Another incident I can recall on the same road but driving towards Windsor was

my friend who saw a silver object fall out of the sky then disappear. I do not feel that either of these sightings are particularly credible or lend credence to the one I witnessed last night.

JULY 3RD 2010 : MELBOURNE, VICTORIA. UFOINFO Sighting Form Report Location: Melbourne, Victoria Date: July 3 2010 Time: 7:10pm Number of witnesses: 1 Number of objects: 2 Shape of objects: Circular Could your sighting be a UFO balloon/lantern?: No Weather Conditions: Cloudy dark night Description: I am 14 years of age. I went outside while I was on the phone to a friend. I saw high above the suburb of Frankston in the clouds two glowing objects moving quickly towards and apart from each other. They were going in and out and around. Because they were behind clouds they were a blury image. I was definitely not imagining it. It lasted approximately 5 minutes and as I was on the phone I told my friend about it. I tried to record it on my phone but could not capture it. TV/Radio: No although I might report it to the local newspaper.

JUNE 29TH 2010 : LOWOOD, QUEENSLAND. UFOINFO Sighting Form Report Location: Lowood, Queensland Date: June 29 2010 Time: 7:40pm Number of witnesses: 1 Number of objects: 1 Shape of objects: Round Could your sighting be a UFO balloon/lantern?: No Weather Conditions: Overcast

Description: The object was just above the tree line view from our yard. Have 3 photos..two show it passing a star and the third was as it took off...different colour and shape from behind. After downloading the photos I can see at first it is yellow and green. When it took of it was red with a flat spot on the left of the round object and a little purple/blue on the top

IS this an alien spacecraft or an American rocket that

was mysteriously five days late showing up? The truth - or even ET - may be out there, but for the moment it seems the Central Coast can’t be sure.

But we can say we played host to an unidentified flying object last week - days after other people along the eastern seaboard of Australia reported similar sightings. Sharon Smith was busy eating breakfast and packing lunches on Wednesday, June 9, when she looked out the window of her Wamberal home and saw something from out of this world. “It was about 6.45am and it was a quiet morning, no breeze, no noise with the sun just coming up and I saw this bright white light,” Mrs Smith said. “I called out to my son Daniel, who was sitting at the table eating breakfast and we both ran out on to the deck and watched this bright white light move about. “It was there for about 10 minutes and it kept moving quite fast and then it would stop and then it would move again,” Mrs Smith said. “It just kept climbing up and up and then it went behind the trees and we lost it.” Both say they have never seen anything like it and while they aren’t big believers in beings in spaceships, the pair aren’t ruling out the possibility it was something from a galaxy far, far away. “I think there has to be something else out there. “All I know is that I have never seen anything like it before,” Mrs Smith said. “It definitely wasn’t a plane or a helicopter and it didn’t have a tail, but I don’t know what it could have been,” Daniel said.

BLACKTOWN MAN CAPTURES SHOT OF UFO CLOUD

FORMATION

12 Aug 09 @ 09:59am by STAFF REPORTER

Is this a UFO? Tell us what you think.

John Redman from Blacktown is an amateur photographer with a keen eye for the unusual. He also happened to be in the right place at the right time in rural Victoria to capture this image of a unique cloud formation.

“I was with my family last Saturday when I looked up and saw this incredible formation. It really looked quite out of this world,’’ he told the Advocate. We agree. Looked at from any angle, it’s hard not to support his claim that it looks “a bit like a UFO.’’ What do you think?

Description: Was sitting outside having my morning coffee and looking at the stars. Turned my head to put my cup down on the step and then turned my head back to the skies and there it was 2 immensely bright lights stronger than High Beams on a vehicle that you see when driving. The 2 lights were 100 percent not there when I put my cup down. The lights seemed very close and about the same distance apart as a car ( Hard to tell ) but just picture a car's lights in the sky. I watched them as they sat there for approximately 20 to 30 seconds and then they just vanished! There was no sounds what so ever. I know it was not any type of Commercial aircraft.

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE NORTHERN TERRITORY KIND

Australia has a long history of alien ‘sightings’. We sent JAYNE ‘Scully’ D’ARCY to the Northern Territory’s Wycliffe Well, the country’s self-appointed UFO capital, to investigate... I don’t want to see a UFO. I’m smack-bang in the middle of Australia’s prime Outback UFO-sighting country, it’s dark, and I’ve just realised that I really don’t want to see one. Australia claims thousands of UFO sightings (you can trace recent UFO action at www.ufoinfo.com/sightings/australia), the most famous being the ‘Valentich Disappearance’ in 1978. A young pilot disappeared over Bass Strait, between Victoria and Tasmania, after reporting an unidentified craft moving at the same speed as his plane and hovering over him. Neither Valentich or his plane were ever seen again.

ALIEN MAGNET

The Stuart Highway slices Australia in half from Darwin in the north, to Port Augusta in the south. It can be a scary road. This is where British tourist Peter Falconio was killed in 2001. It’s the setting for the horror flick Wolf Creek and the Barrow Creek sign has even been changed to ‘Wolf Creek’ by some cheeky character with a marker. It’s also UFO country. There are a few suggestions why the roadhouse and camping ground that make up the ‘town’ of Wycliffe Well, 380km north of Alice Springs, is an alien magnet. It’s possibly the unique pulling-power of the huge rocks at nearby Devils Marbles Conservation Reserve, or due to the proximity of Pine Gap, a CIA-run American military base south of Alice Springs. Wycliffe Well is the self-appointed UFO centre of Australia. During my roadhouse dinner I notice another reason why UFO activity could be so strong here: the roadhouse sells a hell of a lot of beer to passing motorists. Whatever the cause, Wycliffe Well’s roadhouse celebrates its fame by plastering all available wall-space (and more) with articles and photos documenting the local sightings. There’s even a guest book on the counter for reporting your UFO sightings. After dinner (without beer) I hand over $25 for the powered camping site and ask manager Lew Farkas if I’ll see a UFO. He responds in the weary manner of someone who’s been answering the same question for 20

19

years. “If you stay up all night, you will.” Considering I’ve got a 380km drive the next day it would have been more convenient if he’d given me an actual sighting time, but although he’s seen lots of UFOs himself, I guess he’s not in their inner circle yet. I navigate my van through the caravan park’s entrance, which is guarded by a lime green alien family next to a ‘UFO landing site’ sign. Continuing past the larger-than-life statue of the Incredible Hulk, I park between a statue of (abductee) Elvis Presley and the huge Galaxy Auditorium restaurant that seats 300. The toilet block, on-site caravans, cabins and even rubbish bins are covered with hand-painted murals, mostly with freaky alien/UFO images. It’s all fun and games in the day, but will I freak out tonight? It’s low season and the 300 people are just 13. Will people hear me scream? Will Elvis save me?

BEAM OF LIGHT

As soon as it gets dark, and cooler, I perk up. I watch stars emerging, convinced they’re UFOs until they

prove themselves by staying still.

Some appear to be moving, but I figure it’s the way I’m looking at them.

I’ve only been watching for 10 minutes when a beam of light covers the campsite. My heart skips a beat.

But it’s a car; someone’s checked in late. I keep watching.

Nothing.

I’m starting to imagine green aliens trying to get me.

I don’t want to look at the night sky in case the aliens see me looking and decide to visit.

I cure my paranoia by, sadly, falling asleep, although I keep waking throughout the night to take a peek.

Nothing.

I drive out of the park in the morning sad that I have no UFO sightings to add to the guest book. I guess

they didn’t want to see me, either.

AUSTRALIA'S UFO HOT SPOTS

UFOs are not new to the Australian landscape, in fact some Aboriginal stories incorporate beings from the

sky, and many of Wycliffe’s UFO reports come from the local indigenous community.

Tully in Queensland is another place that considers itself Australia’s UFO headquarters, so, ah, keep an

eye out for UFO’s emerging from its lagoon. The region is also famous for crop circles.

New South Wales is a hive of UFO activity, with Kempsey, Casino and New England all gaining high

ratings on the UFO sighting list.

Kempsey is most well known for the ‘Kempsey broken window incident’ of 1971 when a local guy was

sucked through his kitchen window by a small entity standing outside.

Alice Springs is at number five on the list, but there’s another Outback hotspot. A truck driver who’s been

driving the Stuart Highway for 20 years reckons he’s never seen UFOs there however he reported being in a

seven-truck convoy on the Nullarbor when night “lit up like day. Radios went nuts and all seven of us

slammed on the brakes.” After five minutes it went back to night.

Victoria’s Grampians had eight sightings in six months in 2007. So why is it that the aliens never seem to

visit a major city?
