kk-'.Some of the exciting ways we spend our time are pictured on these pages. This fall the Senior Class had their first fund raising event of the year, initiating Monte Cardigan, complete with floor show featuring the Corpse de Ballet. We also had the Race Around the Lake again and a Halloween pumpkin carving contest. The Eighth Grade went to Shelburne Museum and the Ninth Grade to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts on field trips. The Seventh Grade helped groom the pinnacle for the first skiing in three years there.

WHAT DO WE DG ON THURSDAYS?Every Thursday, both faculty and students take a day off from the regular sports for Clubs. Every student signs up for the club of his choice three times a year. We have a variety of clubs including Weightlifting, Blaze, Cooking, Pinnacle Restoration, Games, Models and many other interesting Clubs. Students generally enjoy a club because it provides for a change in their normal daily schedules. Teachers enjoy clubs because it gives them a chance to share their interests with students.

The Class of 1984 is proud to dedicate the Blaze to Mr. John Benjamin Coffin, Jr. Throughout his ten years at Cardigan,Mr. Coffin has worked to instill an independent spirit of learning in his students, at the same time making the subject matter more than just numbers and mathematical signs. For many years as Senior Class Advisor Mr. Coffin thought up more ways to make money than Andrew Carnegie—remember the Senior Snack Bar named Captain Kelly's and the Ritz Cardigan? Mr. Coffin has expanded the school store to benefit the entire school. He has worked as lighting director of the Christmas Pageant, and this year used his free time to help out the Performing Arts back stage and to take a ''cameo role" as Officer Brophy. This spring there was plenty of excitement at Cardigan. On page 100 we see golfers lining up - sort of - to play in the First Annual Pebble Leach Tournament. The winners were the twosome of Burke and Usher, with the Brothers Weiss a close second. Mr. Wakely announced the School Leader of 1984 - 1985 to be Chris Small; the other Student Leaders received their jobs at a special assembly, as Mike Chudzik is announced as one of the new Diningroom Co-Monitors by Rene Keilhauer, one of the Co- Monitors this year. Several fine math students competed in a regional contest this year and, with Mr. Ramos's help and guidance, took both individual and team prizes.

The photos on this page depict the Seventh Grade history field trip to Boston, guided by Mr. Mahoney and Captained by "Commodore" Gregg Long; Slave Day, which earned the Senior Class a hefty sum for their treasury; the spring spelling bee, won by Jeremy Cohen (He's the one in the front row looking thoughtful.); and Headmaster's Day, which began with an unbearable poem and balloons for everyone and ended with fireworks.
