Eurasian Bears

• The biggest representative of animal world in the forests is a brown bear. It can live in different conditions. It lives both in coniferous forests in the north and deciduous forests in the south.

• The bear usually eats mushrooms, berries and roots of plants, but it also likes fresh fish and meat. The bear likes honey and usually finds it in the trees , where bees live.

• A female stays with her children for 3 years. During this time little bears learn to find food and to escape danger. The mother-bear punish her babies, if they are not good in hunting

• A polar bear is the biggest predator (хищник) in the world. The average polar bear weights 150-500 kilos, but sometimes it can weight even 700 kilos. The skin of a bear is strong, waterproof and absolutely white. That helps the animal hide in the snow during the hunting. It can swim very good. It also can wait for hours for the seal jumping out of the water to catch and eat it.

• The babies appear on Earth def, blind and absolutely helpless. That is why they usually stay with their mother for 2 years until they are grown up bears. A female has 1 or 2 babies at a time and stays in the lair for half a year.

• Panda or a bamboo bear lives in the mountains of South-Eastern China and in Western Tibet. The bear eats fresh branches and leaves of bamboo trees, but it can also hunt small rodents for a change. A female usually has 1 or 2 babies at a time. Nowadays there are only some hundreds of bears in the world.
