THE BIG SHIFT TOWARDS TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATED BUSINESSSERVICES
– The Art and Science of Delivering Value and ROI
Friday, November 30, 2018 at The LaLiT Ashok,Bengaluru
The world of Business Services is at the cross-roads. It is moving beyond efficiency and optimization to business
growth enablement, value creation, transformation and speed. Over the last few years, there are three Big Shifts that
are surfacing and are actually happening to movefrom TechEnabledto TechIntegrated BusinessServices:–
A. Sequential Design to Simultaneous Design: Remote access, receiving information, processing and delivering
services where Technology is an enabler, is giving way to process and technology which require ‘simultaneous’
design for execution and delivery of the services, with technology as an equal or more than equal partner. It is not
‘off shore or consolidate first and then automate; it is automate and then offshore or consolidate’.
B. Linear Thinking to Organic Thinking: The processes moving from being structured and rule based to flexible and
change based is becoming an integral part of Business Services. This brings focus on customer journeys as the key
driver of the services and finding the right technology to drive those business processes with a view to make
those servicessolution oriented.
C. Enterprise to Exponential Technologies: Technology architecture is going beyond being an enterprise function to
drive the core business, where business models are changing by use of technology. Exponential technologies are
becoming disruptors to redefine work processes and to reimagine the GBS service delivery to enable digital
businessmodels for the enterprise.
Given the above metamorphosis arising from this high-speed digitizing and transforming world, GBS and SSC
organizations need to keep a laser focus on future readiness and their roles as sustainable corporate assets – by
leveraging the new-age technologies and service delivery models. ‘Wide’ technologies which are social, mobile and
interconnected compete for mindshare with ‘deep’ ones, which are analytical, robotic or inherently intelligent. Each
of these is equally important today as the business fabric is becoming increasingly digital at a breakneck speed. In fact,
companies who simply adapt technology to the way they do business might just be missing the boat. Instead, leading
edge businesses are adapting their businesses to the capabilities these technologies provide. With all these, there is a
clear demand to combine creativity with structure, excellence with end-to-end, and being with doing – in a way,
combining the ‘art and science’ of BusinessServicesto deliver value andROI.
Business and service units such as GICs have come a long way in the past few decades. Several global GIC heads are
executive officers in their corporate offices and have organization wide roles and obligations. Their units have in
themselves become strategic assets to the companies. They realize the urgency of accelerating transformation for
business imperatives – of delivering value andROI.
The art of knowing where and what to strike coupled with the science on how to strike for the best impact is a skill
best learnt from experience - our own and from others. SSF’s Global Business Services Conclave 2018, the 8th in our
annual series, aims to bring the focus of GBSleaders to reflect and crystalize on both the art and science of achieving
the strategic objectives of being profitable, sustainable and socially relevant, by learning from those who have been
there, done that. This one-day event will focuson what matters today in what is likely to matter tomorrow.
The agenda will cover a myriad of topics such as (not limited to) – The need for speed – a delicate balance; Centre
heads – several balls in the air at all times; Workforce and delivery models – which, where and why; Next gen
technology deployments –de-mything; Global and domestic best practices – what workedwhere.
Each of the above will be presented by industry leaders of distinction who are only too happy to share their
experiences and vision. As is our tradition, the conclave will also include felicitating BPM Achievers, Business
Pioneers, and Excellence Awards. We would also release the SSFResearch & Survey Report 2018 on Global Business
ServicesBest Practices and Trends.
