  • Once again…the weather is quickly changing!

A reminder that Calgary is definitely not known for its steady weather

conditions and we are seeing less of our hot summer sun. Recreation

hosts outings throughout the year, which means anyone going on an

outing must be prepared for weather conditions. Please be sure to

provide loved ones with warm coats, scarves, hats and gloves, etc. as

we do not provide any ourselves. We want everyone to enjoy themselves

    while being safe and warm!

    Recreation Outings Policy Update

There have been many questions and concerns regarding who can go on different outings. The Recreation department has a strict outings policy that outlines what makes a resident an appropriate candidate for an outing.

The 2 main factors that are important when planning for an outing are:

An individual must not be on any type of modified diet (ie. minced or pureed)

An individual’s transfer status must not be any kind of mechanical lift or 2 person transfer

    * If an individual is on a modified diet or has that specific transfer status, we do also provide outings that do not require getting off the bus (ie. Scenic drives)

These factors are important to both the resident’s safety and the safety of our staff. Please check with Recreation if you are unsure of your/or your loved ones diet or transfer status and see which outing are right for you! If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Recreation Outing Policy, please contact Renee (Programs Manager) at 4038732612 in Recreation.

*** Due to the nature of in-house events that include food, only individuals with regular diets may attend. Please always check with Recreation if you have any questions

regarding this policy or regarding the final list. ***
