Hi, My name is Marina Nadya Henrietta. I’m 19 years old.

I had the apportunity to join a Youth Exchange Program to Victoria, Australia sponsored by Lions Club Bandung Ceria, Indonesia.

I went to Australia from 3 July 2016 until 31 July 2016. The first 2 weeks, I lived with my lovely host family, Hoober. The third week, I lived at the Koala camp and met a lot of new friends from around the world. And for the last week, I went back to my host family with Mathilde from Denmark.

Arrived in Australia

Visiting Queen Victoria Market

Sharing about Indonesia at Carisbrook school and horse riding

My host family live in Maryborough, not far from the main street. My host parents are Jefferson and Kate. They have 6 children : Luke, Tash, Haydn, Emily, Lavenia, and Jackson. This is their first time to spend with youth exchange through Lions Club.

The weather in Maryborough was so cold probably about 5oc until 12oc. It was my first time to feel that cold and yes.......It’s freezing!

They took me to a lot of amazing places. Such as Mount Macedon. The wind at Mount Macedon was crazy and make it even colder. They also took me to a tower in Maryborough, Maryborough station, Horse riding and Carisbrook school to share about Indonesia to Prep 1-6.

I also taste a lot of different kind of food and dessert from Australia. Kate made food for dinner and It tasted delicious especially roasted pork. I love that food. For dessert, I love Pavlova!

But..... I don’t like Vegemite. I

don’t know why some people like

to eat Vegemite, but for me...... I just don’t like it.

We played Ten Pin Bowling at

Geelong with Hoober family and at Ballarat with Hoober family, Mathilde and Lions Club member. It was so fun!

I also attended 3 change over dinner Lions Club in Ballarat, Carisbrook and Maryborough. I shared a lot of things about me

and

ndonesia, including

Indonesian traditional

dance.

I felt so special because

when we were at Maryborough station, a guy at Maryborou

gh station sing a song special just for Me, Mathilde, Jef, Kate and Jackson. We were so lucky. His voice was amazing and he gave me and mathilde a guitar pick.

We also have a pizza dinner with Lions club member just before we Ten Pin bowling.

And they also took me to see a

beautiful waterfall.

The most exciting part in Australia is the SNOW! It’s so amazing! It’s

my first time to feel that cold and it’s also my first time to see the real snow. We went to black wood for chasing snow that day and it’s unbelievable.

We made a snow man and throw the snow to each other. We were so lucky because It’s rarely for them to see a snow in Australia.

We went to Bendigo to see the Gold Mining tour and tried to find a gold but unfortunatly we couldn’t find any gold in there.

We continued our trip to Tram station and we went to Joss Temple, Golden dragon museum, and Bendigo Pottery.

We also enter the Bendigo Catedral. It’s so beautiful and

unbelievable. The church is so big and it’s like a castle.

We went to a wild life shelter not far from Maryborough to see a baby wallaby and baby kangaroo. I was so lucky that I can hold the baby wallaby and baby kangaroo. The owner of the shelter were so kind. They took care of sick or baby wallaby and kangaroo. After that they put the wallaby and kangaroo back to the wild life.

One night before I went back home, We went to Melbourne to see Melbourne at night. Me and Mathilde had the apportunity to enter the biggest casino in Australia and played in there. It was fun and I learn so many things every single day.

One night, Me and Mathilde had Spa at Jefferson and Kate House with full of bubble at the bathtub. A half hour later, Jackson joined us at the bathtub and we were having fun playing all bubbles. Now, I already miss Jackson.

I will remember all of the things with my lovely host family forever. It’s been an honour for me to meet this beautiful family.

Last night at the camp

We took a train from Geelong to Melbourne. At Melbourne, we went from a place to another place by a tram and It’s my first time to be on a

tram. So excited! I tried to eat the crazy chicken wings and It’s so

spicy! I also tried to eat churros. We went to skydeck to see a beautiful few of melbourne. As a group, we also went to Queen Victoria Market but unfortunately, It’s nearly

closed.

Finally, It’s the last night at the Koala camp. We

had a beautiful time together. We had a dinner and also the amazing Miss Koala Camp. It’s so funny

and my team win! I’m so proud of my team. We also had a talent show. I dance an Indonesian traditional dance and sing “one call away” song

with Darcy from Australia and Katrine from Estonia. After 2 weeks at host parents, 1 week at the camp, and 1 week back to host parents, I had to come back home. It’s so sad and time just gone so

quickly. I had a wonderfull time at the camp and in my host parents house. Thank you so much for the apportunity to have this beautiful experience in my life. I will remember this beautiful memories forever.
