Spreading the Gospel The weekly messages being preached at the Believers’ Ministries Outreach Center, continue to be a part of the tape library at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville, Ohio, Franklin Pre-Release Center in Columbus, Ohio, Madison Correctional Institute, London Correctional Institute, both in London, Ohio, Talbert House in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Northeast Pre-Release Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Weekly taped messages continue to go out to Rebecca’s House, and all four of the Alvis Houses in Columbus, Ohio.   “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15

Resurrection Sunday On Sunday, April 24, 2011, 6:00 a.m. Sunrise Service was held at Believers’ Ministries to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The children ministered in sign language to John 3:16 and Rachel and Michala Richardson ministered in song and sign language to the song “Now behold the lamb”. Our Pastor, Elder Marilyn Dawkins brought forth the message entitled “Because of Jesus.” The scripture text was taken from John 11:25-26 and Revelations 1:18. As we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection, it’s important to remember what this special day means to us. We know that it is more than a day of festivity that is observed with sunrise gatherings, crowded services, great music special sermons, new clothes, special dinners, hunting Easter eggs and eating candy. This is a day of celebrating Jesus’ victory of life over death. This is the time we remember Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection. It’s because of Jesus. As born again believers, we know that we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection not just once a year, but everyday. Resurrection gives hope to everyone who believes in Him. It is a hope of eternal life and a hope of being with Jesus forever. Jesus said in John 14:19, “Because I live, ye shall live also.” Because of Jesus’ resurrection we have hope now and for the future.

Glory be to God! John 11:25-26 25Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? Revelations 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. After feasting on the Word of God, it was time to feast on the natural food. Guests were invited to join us at Frisch’s Big Boy located at 3920 South Hamilton Road. Everyone had their breakfast paid for by an anonymous donor who we thank God for. We especially thank God for the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We thank God for His blessings on this day as we celebrated the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Basic Resumé Writing Class On Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Believers’ Ministries presented a class on basic resumé writing. The instructor for this class was Sis. Tracy Simmons, one of our members and an employee at Battelle Memorial Institute

located at 505 King Avenue in Columbus. She has been an employee for 21 years where she currently works as a Senior Executive Assistant for the Senior Vice President of the Marketing and Communications Department. Sis. Tracy discussed the six major parts of a resume, shared tips on what employers look for and common mistakes to avoid when creating a resume. She also offered assistance to those who were interested in submitting their resumés for review. The information shared helped the participants gain the skills needed to produce an effective resume. To God be the Glory!

Mother’s Day Mother’s Day was celebrated on Sunday, May 8, 2011. All of the mother’s were presented with beautiful pink carnations along with the following Mother’s Day prayer.

A Mother’s Day Prayer  Father, we thank you for godly women who have responded to your will by saying, “Be it done unto me as you say.”  We are grateful for the strength and stability Christian mothers have brought to our lives, our community, church, and nation.  On this day of recognition, may these mothers experience a special blessing of grace and peace.  We thank you for mothers who taught us to be faithful stewards of life.  May our giving reflect those truths and bear witness of the positive and lasting influence of Christian Mothers.  We pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen 

Sister Rachel Richardson made a special presentation to all the mothers by reciting an inspiratonal poem. She also had a red rose presented to each mother by Sis. Michala Richardson.

Guest Speaker On Sunday, May 15, 2011, Minister Doreen Dawkins from Rhema Christian Center, Lafayette Scales, Pastor, was the guest speaker. She brought forth the message entitled, “Destiny Achieved or Denied.” God truly blessed the congregation through the message, as we are all challenged to achieve the destiny that God has planned for us.

Women of Purpose Fellowship On Saturday, June 11, 2011, Believers’ Ministries held a Women of Purpose Fellowship. The speaker was Sis. Marilyn Scott of Christian Fellowship Center, in Cleveland, Ohio where Bishop Shirley McKinney is her pastor. Sis. Scott is a domestic violence survivor and founded Leah Ministries, a ministry that brings healing and restoration to abused women.

Sis. Scott shared her testimony of how God miraculously delivered her. It was a blessing to us all. After services everyone enjoyed a delicious spaghetti dinner and continued to fellowship with one another.

Our next Women of Purpose fellowship is scheduled for Saturday, August 20, 2011at 3:00 p.m. Our guest speaker will be Sis. Ingrid Dawkins of Parkside Church in Chagrin, Ohio where Alistair Begg is her pastor. Sis. Dawkins is the founder of Fit to Serve in Solon, Ohio.

Welcome - New Member We are pleased to welcome Bro. Sean Ross as a new member of Believers’ Ministries. On Sunday, June 12, 2011, Bro. Sean received a Certificate of Membership. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed refreshments and fellowship as the congregation welcomed Bro. Sean as a member of the Believers’ Ministries church family. Bro. Sean will be assisting in the Media Department.

Father’s Day Father’s Day was celebrated on Sunday, June 19, 2011. A scriptural bookmark and pen was presented to the Father’s along with the following Father’s Day poem that lists the characteristics of a Christian Father.

Five Facts for Fine Fathers A Patient Man - A wise father must be patient. It is an honor for a man to remain far from strife; Proverbs 20:3

A Hard Worker - A good father is also a hard working man, not lazy. Proverbs 20:4

A Good Listener - A good father is also a good listener. We can paraphrase this verse to say, the thoughts in a child's heart are like deep waters, but an understanding father draws them out. Proverbs 20:5

A Faithful Friend - A good father is also a faithful friend. Proverbs 20:6

A Righteous Man - A good father is a righteous man. He leads a blameless life of high character and caliber. He is committed to Jesus Christ, to His Word, to prayer, and to his church. He is honest, modeling integrity for his children. Proverbs 20:7 The promise at the end of Proverbs 20:7 says that the children of such a man will be blessed. Happy is the child whose father is a patient man, a hard worker, a good listener, a faithful friend, and a righteous soul. Happy are the children of the father whose God is the Lord.

Rise up, O men of God! Have done with lesser things;

Give heart and mind and soul and strength To serve the King of Kings.
