The Tree House Here children and families who have lost loved ones can begin the healing process Here there are caring counselors, volunteers and professionals who have the experience and training to support and create a safe place for grieving families Here tomorrow starts to look more hopeful, brighter and better

‣ Since 1995 The Tree House, a cornerstone of the Bereavement Center of Westchester, has provided a safe place for children who are grieving the loss of a parent or sibling. The Tree House was one of the first grief centers in the US created solely for children and their families.

‣ Children at the Tree House participate in small peer to peer support groups where each child can share their story. In this open, safe environment families can move through the pain of grieve towards hope, healing and happiness

‣ The BCW Tree House is a vital part of New York Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital and its LCHS outreach to the Westchester Community. Its programs are 100% donor funded and are provided at no cost W

‣ Peer to peer support for children between the ages of 4 & 18. Innovative art, music and games, are all a part of the Tree House healing process. Meals are shared and deep friendships are formed

‣ Parents and caregivers work with professionals who help them raise children that are grieving

‣ Have developed in-depth training for over 500 support volunteers

‣  In 2017 over 165 families participated in Tree House programs throughout Westchester

‣ Support groups are provided for College students during school break.

‣ Provide Westchester’s only school-based, onsite grief counseling in times of loss, crisis and tragedy

‣ Provide hundreds of grief counseling presentations for teachers, counselors and parents in the Westchester Community

‣  Lead and develop grief counseling materials, training kits and consultations for organizations, school and communities

‣ Train students, teachers, counselors and parents to be leaders and sources of support and strenght in times of crisis and loss
