cloudCloud Computing, or the Internet

Cloud refers to the Internet, and,

specifically, storage space on

servers owned by Internet

corporations and service providers.

When you purchase music or

eBooks from Amazon, for example,

your media is retained in a drive on

their servers, your personal cloud

space. You can access this from any

computer with internet access as

well as your phone or tablet. Most

Web 2.0 applications operate in the

cloud and not on the hard drive of

your computer.

Page 41: The basics of_web_2

Creative CommonsCreative Commons is a

system of licensing

especially for works

published on the Internet.

These free licenses are a

way for “content creators” to

label their works to let others

know if the content may be

used, changed,

commercialized, and so

forth. These licenses also let

other Internet users find

music, photos, art-work and

presentations that are

available for use without

writing for permission (or

violating copyright laws).

Page 42: The basics of_web_2

users discussing the same

topic. They consist of a

number symbol followed by

letters or a word. If you

search a certain hashtag,

all public messages with

that tag will appear in your

results.

Page 44: The basics of_web_2

allow two or

more people to

communicate

in real time

using written

specific topics can

find those entries. If

word in a tag cloud,

that tag has been

used on the web site.
