A L ook at the Pa s t o r a l S e rv i c e s A p p e a l for 2018 The Pastoral Services Appeal for the last year, 2018, was a wonderful success for our diocese and our parish. Here are the latest figures (as of November 30)….the final numbers for the entire year won’t be available until the end of January 2019. For comparison, November 2017 November 2018 Diocesan Goal $6,569,000 $6,800,000

Number of pledges 23,680 25,059

Amount pledged $11,089,315 $11,523,243

Total paid $9,926,998 $10,383,785

Rebate to parishes $3,443,678 $3,852,644

Average gift $468 $460

*************************************** Parish Goal $137,000 $144,000

Number of pledges 466 534

Amount pledged $291,522 $380,028

Total paid $264,447 $356,139

Rebate to our parish $127,447 $212,129

Our “case” for our parish rebate for 2018 was the Solar Project. The total cost for this project was $310,000 and it was paid for by our PSA rebate (thank you!) and a portion of a bequest made by a parishioner who left our parish in their will. After the first 4 months of solar production, we are averaging a reduction in monthly electrical costs of $1,861.00. This will only increase as we move into the future. I am especially heartened by the increase in the number of parish households who made a gift or an outright pledge in 2018: the increase was 58 more households! That is something I hope will continue into the upcoming Pastoral Services Appeal 2019.

Recently, Habitat, with volunteers and financial support from the Catholic Coalition completed the first home in Tustin. The home was dedicated on December 8, 2018 and was sold to a young veteran and his daughter. Over the next few years Habitat will be building 12 new homes in Fullerton, CA for limited-income families. To meet this challenge our parish has been invited to partici-pate. Monsignor John would like to invite you to attend another Wine and Cheese Event to raise funds for this worthwhile effort. Our very own parishioner Chef Frederic Castan will be our culinary guide! Please reserve Saturday February 23, for an evening of fun, friendship and tasty treats. Cost for this event is $20 per person. Please contact me or stop by the parish office to reserve your space for this great cause.

XLT: “in the desert,” Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 6-9pm. Do you ever feel like you are spiritually dried up? Do you feel like there is no fruitful-ness or joy in your prayer life? The season of Lent can often feel like an obligatory time of suffering and penance: a time in a spiritual desert. What if this Lent could be more than a time of going through the motions, but a season of real transformation? St. Timothy parish invites you to experience the radical love of Jesus Christ through XLT as we journey in the desert this season of Lent. XLT t is a transformational night of prayer, consisting of praise & worship, a powerful message, Reconciliation and Ado-ration of the Blessed Sacrament. XLT is short for exalt, so come join us in exalting our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, and experience a real & powerful en-counter with God. Catholic or not, young or old, all are welcome!

What is ordinary time in the Catholic Church?

The origin of the name Ordinary Time comes from the Latin word ordinalis, which means “numbered.” Ordinary Time, which occurs between Christmas and Lent then again between Easter and Advent, signifies a numbered (or ordered) list of Sundays that anchor our daily lives in the Catholic Church. It is a time to practice what we experienced during Advent.
