You will draw water joyfully from the springs of salvation.

0132 Sacred Heart Parish Sunday, January 11, 2015

The Holy Trinity is one of those mysteries of our faith which is almost impossible for us to perceive and comprehend. Yet it is presented to us clearly in today’s Gospel all at once: The Son, Jesus, is baptized; the Holy Spirit descends upon Him; and God proclaims, “You are my beloved son; with you I am well pleased.” As stewards of the faith, we must strive to understand and appreciate the meaning and significance of that Trinity.

Stewardship, of course, involves a conversion of the heart. Each of us must strive for that conversion, and it is most easily accomplished through prayer and liturgy. Through prayer, we grow our own relationship with the Lord. When we make a simple Sign of the Cross, we reinforce our belief in the Trinity, and each time we make that sign we should think of the beauty of His three divine persons. “Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit… now and forever.”

Stewardship Corner ~

The words “Thank you” seem so insufficient to express the gratitude I have towards all those who

have made this past Christmas such a terrific one. There are those that helped make the parish

celebrations so brilliant including the office staff, the liturgical ministers and musicians, the church

decorators, and the maintenance staff. Then there is the generosity of so many parishioners in

regards to gifts, cards, and meals - it has been truly amazing! These are to whom I owe personal

gratitude, but an even greater “Thank you” needs to go out to all of you, the parishioners of

Sacred Heart, who have continued to be generous in support of your parish. May the Lord return

to you much more in terms of Grace and Love, especially in the New Year.

Annual March for Life

The March for Life in Washington, D.C., began as a small demonstration on January 22, 1974, the first anniversary of

the now-infamous Supreme Court decisions in Roe v Wade and Doe v Bolton and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-

life event in the world. The peaceful demonstration that has followed on this somber anniversary every year since is

a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, legalized abortion on demand.

“Every Life is a Gift” will be the theme of the 2015 March for Life, and seeks to draw attention to the pre-born

populations that are at the greatest risk for abortion: those who receive a prenatal disability diagnosis. The march will

take place on January 22, 2015. The day’s events will begin with a rally on the National Mall, which will be

followed by a march to the U.S. Supreme Court to hear testimony from women who regret

their abortion.

Eucharistic Adoration at Sacred Heart Church

Start the New Year by spending some personal, quiet, one-on-one time with our precious Lord Jesus Christ. What better way to say good-bye to the past year with its many blessings and sorrows and to ask God for His guidance and protection as we start the New Year.

Abandon yourself to Jesus in this "Sacrament of Love" and He will refresh you! The more time you spend with Jesus, the more you will come away feeling renewed and healed. There you can speak with Him about everything. You can offer Him your petitions, concerns, troubles, joys, gratitude and all your

needs. He is always there waiting for you.

Eucharistic Adoration is open to all and is held on Tuesdays from 8 am to 7 pm.

We are presently in need of an adorer for 10:00 am.

If you are interested in becoming an adorer or, would like to have more information about Eucharistic Adoration at Sacred

Heart Church, you may contact Joann Di Liberto at 610.932.8962.

Sacred Heart’s Centennial Celebration

Plans are underway to celebrate Sacred Heart’s Centennial Celebration. Consider lending your time and talents to the Centennial Committee as plans are in the making to kick off a year long celebration starting on Saturday evening, June 6th,

2015, and continuing thru out the year until the closing in June 2016. Sacred Heart’s official anniversary is June 15, 2015. Our next meeting will be Monday, February 2nd at 7 pm.

Consider being “part of the heart,” as our committee seeks volunteers that are willing to lend their time and talent and treasures. We need a wide spectrum of expertise to make this a celebration to remember.

Sacred Heart’s Collectable Christmas Ornament Sacred Heart’s Centennial Committee will be selling a collectable 2014 Christmas ornament that highlights the original Sacred Heart Church on Broad Street in Oxford. The ornament depicts the Sacred Heart of old. There is a limited number of the keepsake ornaments offered. The cost of the glass Christmas ball is $12 each and will be available after Mass by a Centennial Committee member. We will also be taking pre-orders on a tapestry that will depict the old Sacred Heart Church, the current Sacred Heart Church and the school.
