GALLIPOLIS – Silver Bridge Coffee Company officially launched its single serve line for single serve brew-

ers during a ceremony Friday at Foodland on Second Avenue and made history in the process as one of the

few companies nationwide to possess the technology. Until recently, the “k-cup” processing technology was

under patent, which recently expired allowing for the building of machines that are affordable for smaller

roasting companies.

“This is really groundbreaking and it’s happening right here in Gallia County,” said OSU South Centers rep-

resentative Meagan Barnes.

Silver Bridge Coffee Company owner Lorraine Walker expressed her appreciation of the support she’s re-

ceived from the community and from Eastman’s Foodland, the first stores in Gallia County to carry Silver

Bridge Coffee.

“They were so gracious to let us in when it was a new idea,” said Walker.

Silver Bridge Coffee Company was formed in August 2008 in Walker’s home.

FARM CITY DAY

2013

Join the Movement to End Texting and Driving

Drivers who read or send texts while behind the wheel are more likely to cause

crashes – often leading to life changing injuries and deaths. To put an end to tex-

ting and driving, AT&T launched the It Can Wait campaign, which Gallia County

Chamber of Commerce is proud to be a part of.

We’re excited to help take the It Can Wait movement one step further with “Drive 4 Pledges

Day” on September 19, 2013. On this day, It Can Wait advocates will be asking every driver to join us

in making a personal commitment not to text and drive – and recruiting others to do the same. To succeed

in making texting and driving a thing of the past, we’re going to need everybody’s help.

There are many easy ways to get involved. Once you take the pledge online, ask five other people to

vow never to text and drive, or simply share your pledge and what it means to you through your social

media channels. Here is a sample post:

No text is worth a life. Join me and @ATT to take action against texting while driving.

BWC’s Group Rating Program Offers

Employers Beneficial Savings

This time of year, you will likely start receiving offers encouraging you to enroll in different workers’ com-

pensation group rating programs. Choosing a group rating program with high savings is important, but there

are other factors you should consider, such as:

A Group’s Proven Performance & Return-on-Investment

Traditional Group Rating is the only guaranteed way companies can save a significant amount on their work-

ers’ compensation premium. Since the inception of group rating in 1991, CareWorks Consultants’ group rat-

ing programs participants have saved more than $2 billion in workers’ compensation premiums. For every

$1.00 spent in participation fees, the average participant in a CareWorks Consultants’ administered program

saved $11.00 in workers’ compensation premium, that’s a 1000% return-on-investment!

Group Size & Stability

Currently, more than 27,000 companies participate in a CareWorks Consultants’ administered group rating

program. CareWorks Consultants is Ohio’s largest private group rating program administrator. For the 2013

policy year we filed 83 workers’ compensation group rating plans, 20% more than our competitors. For em-

ployers, this means more opportunities for potentially higher savings and more predictable discounts than any

other third party administrator in the industry.

Employers should be wary of other plans that offer higher discounts. Plans with fewer employers often over-

state their projected discounts and then under deliver after you have enrolled.

It Pays to Compare

All companies should annually review their group rating eligibility. If you are already a client of CareWorks

Consultants your eligibility is automatically reviewed. If you are not a CareWorks Consultants’ client or did

not qualify for group rating last year, please take advantage of our no-cost, no-obligation analysis.
