Last Friday night we had our third whole school concert at John Edmondson High School and it was the best so far! The children were so excited to show off what they had been learning and practising at school. The joy showed in their faces and could be still heard on Monday when they were talking about what a great night it was. Its things like this that children remember most about their school life. Thank you to everyone who made the concert possible and to all of our families for coming out in the horrible weather to cheer our children on. We will do it again in 2 more years. SCHOOL REPRESENTATION There have been many wonderful opportunities for students to represent Austral PS recently. Please consider taking advantage of this opportunity if your child is not a confident swimmer as this is a life skill that is so important for everyone. Notes went home, but if you didnt receive one or have misplaced it there are more in the office. Swimming lessons will start on the first day back at school next term. P & C MEETING The next P & C Meeting will be held on Monday 16 th September at 9:15am in the Teacher Professional Learn- ing room next door to KG. The next major P & C fundraising event, which is a Colour Fun Run’, will be dis- cussed and some current maths strategies that children are using in class will be demonstrated. Austral’s Greatest Show. On Friday my mum and my dad and my baby took me to John Edmondson High School. It was so much fun be-cause we danced with joy! When it was the finale we held streamers and we danced at the back of the hall. When we went back to the holding room the teachers called us so we could go home. Zane 1/2M On Friday my mum took me and my sisters to the concert to perform with our class. We were clowns. My brother loves clowns. He was so, so excited to see me be a clown. The stage in John Edmondson High School was so, so high. My best part was when the girls were in a circle. We went to the finale. It was fun! We had a wonderful time at the concert. Aysha 1/2M On Friday night the 6

th of September my nan, mum, dad and my sister took me to Austral’s Greatest Show. They

dropped me off at the holding rooms. First I had junior dance. I played Lego and animals. Then we had to line up because it was our go. Then we went on the stage and performed. After that I was thirsty so I had to get a drink. I then changed into my clown outfit and performed again. After all the dances we h ad to the finale with streamers. It was so much fun. After the finale I went home and went to bed. Olivia 1/2M On Friday night my mum, grandma and my sister Riya went to John Edmondson High school. I was excited to do my performance. Next we went into our holding rooms. We played and drew. Mrs Merlino called my name to get me ready and into my clown costume. I had silver dots and big white dots. We went on stage. Then we had to do our performance. At the end we did our finale. We had streamers that sparkled. Siya 1/2M On Friday night my family took me and my sister to John Ed-mondson High School. I was so excited to perform in the dances. I was very nervous too because there would be a lot of people. Would my family like all of the dances in the fantas-tic show? I’m going to be a black and orange tiger and then a colourful clown. Then they dropped me at one of the holding rooms. We got changed into our costumes. After we lined up in our lines so we could get ready for the school concert. When we were lining up for our turn we had to wait outside and it was very cold. Then we did our performance. When I was on stage I was so nervous and excited. The parents were waiting to see us perform. After we did our dance we had to get changed into our clown costumes. When all of the perfor-mances were done we did the finale and we used streamers to dance with. Aliyah 1/2M On Friday night the 6

th of September, me and my mum went to John Edmondson High School. Then we went to

the holding rooms and I had to go 2/3L, KT and KG’s room. First I ate food. Then we got dressed in our leopard

clothes and after we played we had to line up very quietly because we were next to go on stage. The ribbon

dancers and fire eaters were performing on stage. When it was our turn we went on stage and did our junior

dance performance. We did the song Roar by Katy Perry and when we were finished I had to go to Mrs Merlino’s

classroom so I could change into my clown costume and put my wig on. When I was on stage I had so much fun

and when we were finished we did the finale. The song was, I Like to Move it, Move it. I was on stage and I had

a gold shiny streamer and it shone brightly. When we were finished doing the finale we went back to our holding

rooms and waited for our parents to pick us up from John Edmondson. Then I went in my car home and it was

very, very late. Jelilah 1/2M

P & C News We thank all the students, families and volunteers who supported our Father’s Day Stall and Raffle, it was a great success with a total of $1800 raised. Our School Colour Fun Run will be held Friday 18th October, not the 19th (as printed on the note which was sent out on Tuesday). As this is our Major fundraiser for the year, we ask families to encourage their children to participate on the day and raise money for our school. There will be a P&C meeting on Monday 16th September at 9.15am. We invite all parents and carers to come along and further discuss ideas for this wonderful fun colour day. If you can help in anyway on the day and would like to be a part of the action, please see Mari-jana Nad or any of our members on the P and C .

Premier’s Spelling Bee On Tuesday, 4 of our talented spellers attended the Regional Premier’s Spelling Bee final. At Ingleburn. They were asked to spell difficult words like duet, accelerate, accent, activist and electromagnetic They did extremely well and we are very proud of them. Congratulations Har-ry Wong, Louis Castellano, Maya Hollwey and Aiden McPherson.

Uniform Orders

Uniform orders are to be placed at the office no later than Thursday morning 9.30am. Orders will be filled out on the day and delivered to the child’s class. Please place correct money in envelope with their name and class.

Change of Clothes It is a good idea to put spare underpants and either grey shorts or pants for boys and skorts or royal blue pants for girls for Kindergarten and Year 1 students in their bag as the office only has a limited number of spare clothes.
